  1. The overlay will make map making much more accurate and easier. The features of the game are many and great. It just seems a shame for a scenario designer to have a wonderful map tool and all the groups and orders but when designing a computer defense has to "roll the dice" to see when and where to use these tools. It simply does not make sense to me.
  2. To add to my thread starter. Who by any stretch of the imagination could say that triggers would not be an asset to the game. In a large or huge scenario they would add untold possibilities. You could have a mobile force on the defense that would be able to respond to the human attacker in a meaningful way instead of a WAG. Maybe the triggers could be fooled but so are human defense players fooled. Its what the game is about, who can outfox the other. Without triggers the game is and forever will realize only a part of its full potential.
  3. Still no triggers. Will they be in upgrade 3 or never? Rite now when writing a scenario all you can do when using group movement on defense is to make a WAG as to when to move them and where to move them.
  4. Thanks for the answers, it sounds like a great tool, I look forward to using it. I have avoided historical maps in favor of fictional ones and this will temp me into making some historical ones. Gotta find some good ones. Plenty of rough terrain and historical.
  5. What is an "image overlay" ?
  6. Thanks MickyD. Will this "improved shading effect" help with depth perception and terrain undulation perception?
  7. How does this help us? Is there an option to use one or the other.
  8. This is indeed good news. NW Europe is a very interesting theater and its good to hear that it will also get the upgrades.
  9. Hope that means what it sounds like, this will make an already great game even better.
  10. I agree. There is a conversion tool for swapping maps between CMX 1 games but maybe we wont need one for the CMX 2 games. Hope so, he quietly pleaded.
  11. Will CMBN maps be importable?
  12. They work very well at long distance, 1200m or so, if they are under cover. It takes them a few rounds to get on target but they will even hit a moving tank. Try, here we go a plug, The Hinterland it is a huge scenario and there are some opening shots of 1200m to 1400m on the south side of the map during the first four or five moves. Thats not too much of a spoiler.
  13. That is good to hear. I know that in CM1 if a panzerfaust or a shrek was nearby then there was a good chance that they would get some of your Shermans. The way it is portrayed now in the game seems , according to what has been written on this thread thus far, to be more true to life.
  14. With the spotting ability of tanks, even to the rear and sides, how successful were the tank hunter teams IRL? The faust in the game has a range of only 30m. Sometimes the spotting ability of tanks in the game remind me of Robocop.
  15. BF is probably testing enhanced tank spotting so that it can be used in a futuristic game called, let me see, Shock Force?
  16. Thanks Michael for the response. What was the "reverse Lend-Lease" with the 25pdr all about?
  17. Was it unusual for a US unit to have Fireflys attached for an attack? Or did it happen at all?
  18. I have been unable to use the "Aquire" function in the editor mode. It isn't displayed as a selection in the commands section of the UI. The manual states that it is a functioning command when building a scenario, page 133. Has anybody else been able to use this command during the construction stage of a scenario?
  19. I wonder if the engine has the capacity for "under the hood" calculations like the CMX 2 engine in addition to the detail. Might have to go to 64bit.
  20. Hi Erwin, If you remember what it is let me know and I'll load it to refresh my memory and find out who the author is. May be he will want to redo it for CMBN. If he dosen't then I can let him know my intent to redo it and get his blessing.
  21. Thanks Gen Von Television, I'm sure it was a CMBO, at least I think I'm sure, but if you have found two of the same name it may be CMAK. The senario goes like this. A platoon of Geman pioneers are out logging and an American patrol passes by the pioneers as they are logging. A small battle develops between the Pioneers and the American patrol.
  22. I tried Senario Depot but couldn't find that scenario. I have some salvage from the first Senario Depot from when it went off line for a while, dont remember the reason. I've got about 600 CMBO senarios in that "salvage" but still cant find that particular scenario.
  23. Thats true but even on full the loadout for an AT gun is only 20 or so rounds of AP. They go thru this in about 5 or 6 turns of long range targeting, lots of misses at 1400m. What would be good is reinforcements of ammo bearers or the time limit of the game could gauge the amount of ammo for a gun. The way it is now a 30 min scenario allows the same loadout as a 4 hour scenario.
