  1. Minute 33-32: Not much happened: tanks moved forward, tanks fired on the town, enemy fired from the village. Minute 32: Orders I switched some of the tanks from HE to MG fire on the town because I do not want them running out of ammo when things really start going. The mortar that was firing wide and I canceled last turn is nearly out of HE so I called in smoke in front of the suspected enemy mortar position.
  2. Yeah but... when someone is not clear about what they tried or did not yet try I think we are correct in pointing out where they should look. This time it wasn't the case but there have been multiple times when someone started a thread soooo sure about something only to find out they were the ones that had it wrong.
  3. I just tried it and it was there for an attack QB - I did not try the other types.
  4. Yep it is a bug. The Germans cannot purchase barbed wire in quick battles. The issue has been reported already.
  5. Ah actually I was trying to point out that this whole story was a myth that may have been totally made up or might have started from some early safety problems that were fixed. Clearly I did not express my self well enough. Even if you take the worst case scenario of what was quoted form that book that would only mean initial production T64s had a safety issue that was fixed. Personally I do not even think that is the most likely interpretation - even more likely that there were problems in prototype stage. Either way this idea that for decades the Soviet auto loaders were causing serious bodily harm to tankers is clearly just a story. When I searched I found several places that made mention of "loading limbs" as if it were fact but with nothing to back it up - sounded like a myth to me. The only thing that looked even remotely like someone actually looked at data was this and it clearly makes no mention of loading limbs as something that happened with any regularity or even at all, it talks about some injuries and safety features that were added. The loading limbs story sounds like a myth to me.

  7. Yes, they have said that they do. Lots of people had success and a few have had problems but so far those problems have been resolved.
  8. Yeah 3 rounds of precision 152 is not a guarantee kill but it is nearly a guarantee mission kill (in this case immobilization but could be main gun or weapons control damage). I have dropped a lot of 152 and 155 onto tanks and if you use three or four rounds the number of times the tank is still running and able to kill you back is pretty small but it does occasionally happen.
  9. Oh I hate it when stuff like that happens. Yeah things do not seem to be going well for you. Yeah but I am in no rush. Right now you are presenting my men with plenty of targets. I see no reason to be going off in every which direction when I can manoeuvre a bit here and a bit there and take your guys out bit by bit. I can do this all day. And yeah a big part of my plan was to scout and find your stuff and the drop the big stuff on it. Don't worry I have plenty of tanks in reserve to punch through once I have carved out a hole. I have everything except Shock Force so sure anything you like next but I still have lots to do in our current game yet

  11. Yeah, it is usually a good idea to learn the limits off camera, in private, *before* you head to the competition.

ISBN 0-7137-1735-1. The implication being that the auto loader was improved and much safer in later iterations.

  14. From reading the rest of your threads I think you have figured this out already but just in case someone else reading this has not figured this out yet: ^^^ that is one scary screen shot. Two of your most valuable asses are up there where they should not be - the CO and the FO. It would be much better to see a platoon of infantry ahead of them with the armoured cars close behind and the FO and CO behind that. The old adage never send a squad where scouts haven't been, never send a platoon where a squad hasn't been, never send tank / company where a platoon hasn't been etc culminates in never send the FO unless a whole crap load of your troops have already cleared the area. You want your FO to slide into place next to some of your infantry who already have eyes on the target. Not just because you want the way to be clear of the enemy but also because you want any enemy contacts to be worrying about the platoon with armoured car support so they don't spend time paying attention to the FO.
  15. A 150Mb drive - wow that was big. My first HD was 10Mb and it cost my nearly as much as the computer itself (which only had two 5 1/4 inch drives). That was in the day when no one needed more then 360Kb of system memory
  16. Huh? What? As far as I can tell you were the one acting haughty and raging. Yeah, I suppose it is a bit of "he hit me back first" but it takes two t tango. You said you wanted blood and other said they don't. If you are allowed to express your opinion then aren't others? On the subject of newcomers, if you really are a newcomer then I hope you can let this slide and contribute to the community... I worry a little when I see someone 'new' on the scene who arrives all hot and bothered and right away down votes posts that are not harsh or out of line and at the same time up vote their own posts it makes me wonder just a bit.
  17. I think you are reading the situation correctly and BTW you are quite right the mortar fire on the bocage line has taken its tole on my men there. Plus It would be bad for me if that mortar switched to hitting the road. Having said that if you want an on map mortar to stop firing you can use the artillery panel like you tried or you can select the mortar team directly and cancel from there. I just did it in another game I am playing. You either hit the del key with the unit selected or the clear target (or is it cancel target) command or manually target something and then cancel that. One or more of those actions will cancel the call.
  18. Oh I forgot to add that my little plan to figure out if what looked like a gap really was a gap did not work because the pauses I added were to long. I re did the orders but with less pausing...

  21. Yep. Move is also useful when you have a unit that is already tired and you need them to keep going because stopping to rest is not safe enough. They can keep moving without getting to the fatigued state.
