  1. Jorge your english is even better than mine....I have not seen any mods for this but yes would love it as I am a big eastern front historian and major fan/player of the barbarossa to berlin combat mission..Do u have that one> Battlefront also has Theatre of War 2 which has missin generator and major campain and maps and moudel add ons and although its real-timish you can slow downm and even pause the action just like in the Combat missions WEGO format..A friednd of mine has this software and it is qamazing and as always historically accurate...so mu7ch so Im buying it next payday!! If you havent already, read up on it and see what you think... Paz
  2. Yes I still play CMAK,,and have played overlord but Ive always been a student of the eastern front so when Barbarossa-berlin came out I just went ga ga nuts however I cannot load CMBB on my vista computer for some reason..CMAK did so I play that along with CMSF and CMA all the time..I dont know I got spoiled by the improved graphics of the later cm games but CMO's engine is solid and the grandfather of what has proven to be the best tac-game thats ever existed
  3. thanks comrad I am flabergasted by all the extra dimensions of the game Im coming across in these forums! yes im a green horn to this motley bunch of gamers and grognards but Ive always read the forums and played since the barbarossa to berlin days
  4. Yes I pine for the old red bear sometimes, simplier times, the cold war days. Enemies of the state wore uniforms and lived by honour codes...Feifers book is the best Ive come across so far. Just finished reading "AFGHANISTAN a russian soldiers story" by Vladislav Tamarov but its a pictorial for the most part but his memior section, although not Tolstoy, comes off as honest and universally familiar to students and veterans of war alike. Its a quick read. There aren't too many mind blowing pixs--his personal collection is mostly of him digging up mines..but out of a ten Id give it a 7 and a half but grognards will walk away from the book still hungry..."The bear went over the mountain" stays on my war desk at all times while playing CMA as well...a fantastic book of tactical tips! can't plug it enough! while looking up Tamarovs book I stumbled across and purchased " One Soldiers War" By Arkady Babchenko about his expierences in chechnya while serving as a russian soldier...the memior actually received some literary nods and won the Globe and Mail best book pick but while reading it I am struck by how Russia apparantly has taken very little from its expierences in afghanistan as a matter of fact some of the firefights almost echoes as the ghosts of afghanistan...a lot more nasty urban fighting though..
  5. The voice overdubs on one version of 9th company are horrible and really take away from the scenes and come off really cheesy, almost hilarious. If you do watch it, try to get the subtitled version..You can find it on amazon. Great story! real company of young men that were in the real s%&t although the ending is pure hollywood.
  6. er, uhh the student will be the teacher or some such thing...DYSLEXIA: ITS NOT JUST FOR KIDS ANYMORE.
  7. I like the challenge..I already feel like blue side has unfair advantage with all that awesome war machinery as compared to what the syrians have...but yeah that battle has kicked my butt as well and would love to hear about blackmorias route...I refuse to say unbeatable yet!! Soon the teacher will be the master!(diabolical laughter)
  8. :eek:Im with meatetr there, about how long could we expect EAstern Front module?!? I would pay up to 15 dollars for CMSF add ons plus I am even willing to pay extra retail for modules that are released with hard copy manuals, maps, ect
  9. we all have our own individual grognardian obsessions but yeah you're on to something..I mean there was a lot of equipment, machines, ect designed for the big cold war that eventually thawed. Ive said this in here before but itd be interesting to put NATO forces against WARSAW PAct/ Red bear army to see how all that equipment holds out in the field! Yeah I would buy it, as long as its Battlefront approved...Perhaps even the CM series....
  10. It would add new dimensions to the gameplay--Ive had CMSF pretty much since its come out and am still learning new things about it..Would love to read it!
  11. does anyone know what the system requirements are going to be for that bad boy??
  12. I would like to give thanks to the BF folks for not just NATO but the afghanistan module for me to play on my holiday off!
  13. Splitting the teams allows me more controll over the house assault itself...there's some awesome tactical imfo in here guys! Enjoyed reading this string
  14. will they do that?? Swap ammo between each other? Just loaded the icons now, im studying soviet/afghan war now as well and its good to see soviet/nato symbols as I get familiar with everything.. But seriously can you swap ammo by getting one comrade close enough to the other? Like buddy aid?
  15. Thanks for the ammo tip Alex....these tactical pics/maps are good as well. I am so low on ammo and but a handful of survivors Im tempted to call a ceasefire but wonder how that will affect my campaign? Plus I will probably be sent to the gulag for blowing it... Alex I noticed your icons were different than those that come with the game. What Mod are you using for these? They're great. Im using Arc at shorter distances to great affect. I am too frightened to play on iron so I salute you and your awesome score. Im thinking of restarting campaign cause I started on a wrong foot anyway Wasnt watching for mines and the soviet/afghan war was all about mines, thousands of them, still going off even to this day plus I discovered the frustrating horrors of urban warfare..Had to rethink my tactical approach to just about everything.
  16. when I attempt to download your file at rapidshare it tells me something wrong with download?? And as far as it being in French.Viva La France...Beautiful country, beautiful language!
  17. Yeah I conserved using area target except when my HQ team stumbled up on a muji machine gun team and was wiped out. I lost LOS on the killers as a result but I ordered all guns to that area and laid waste to it for one move(WEGO) It was only after my anger was quenched that it dawned on me one, although both members of HQ were wiped out, only one was dark red/brown however after my little burst of high velocity anger they were both dark brown!! Valuable lesson there, sure you sometimes have to saacrifice the one for the whole cause but try telling that to the dead pixeltruppins motherboard! Alex where did you have your units positioned at the very beginning of mission? Scenario designers or yours? Im wondering if perhaps you were just fortunate enough to overwatch the areas muji were coming in before they spread out everywhere? Great score! Elite level? I started out with even less troops than yours and Im being mauled...Its the final moments of the alamo in my game right now....
  18. Russia would be great..I mean our countries got all dressed up for the big Cold War that never came..It'd be great to let all that military hardware have at it in the enviroments they were originally designed for..When I first heard of NATO coming out I thought it was NATO VS Warsaw pact kind of thing..So Im just giddy over the rumours..no sleep for this kid tonight! Thanks for imfo guys!
  19. Playing the mission right now: my inf. got seriously mauled holding the mound, the imobolized BMP's are my artillery as well but its just a matter of time before an rpg gets close enough to take them out. Fortunaetly in the first move of the battle I ordered some units over to the bridge for "gaurd" duty and they're in a good position taking out muji's that are trickling across. Meanwhile Ive got the boogey man crawling down out of the hills to get my red ass. target rich enviroment but not enough guns to get them all and I too am trying to save my inf from taking wild long shots..The use of target arc at 100m (short arcs) is a very useful tip for this amatuer. So far Im keeping casualities low but im gonna run out of ammo soon.......
  20. Fantastic! I m actually watching all your other "combat training" films now as well. Good useful tactical advise, especially using overwatch which might be old hat to proffessionals and students of but the average layman may not know...just awesome. Please keep these coming!
  21. CMSFII?!? Where did you hear this at? Im fairly new to the forums. I'd love to read/hear more about the rumours, ect about that project!!
  22. an open thread to the entire staff of battlefront: "YOUR CM AI is wicked and cruel!! Ive been plaing CMA on elite and getting my %$& severly kicked by villagers armed to the teeth,,I am a seasoned player of the series so I went into the campaign a bit too cocky..The AI/ ect is great! Tough & mean, but awesome!! Keep the hits coming guys!!!!
