  1. I get what you were originally saing about it looking like good avente garde graphics...I love it...I look back at CMO days and say to all the guys/gals? at battlefront "You've come a long way baby!" ANd thanks for going there, most mainstream game co's wouldve passed on the theme/subject..Hey how about modules for Russias brief fight with Georgia or better yet chechnya, the first and second chechnyan wars! Kosovo anyone?? Touchy topics, that whole "ethnic cleansing" thing but there were tactical engagements in all that mess and they would run great in simulation!! I saw some kind of tank simulation game(Russian) where Rhodesia was the battleground...Itd be great to see some of this modern equipment rolling over something besides desert, dirt and mud!!!!
  2. This is great! Really feels like you're in the field with your comrades, radios chattering with a squawkish life of its own! Where did u get these recordings? Intense sounding, at one point it sounds like the voices from radio are being hit on their end while the radio man desperately calls for help..you can feel the energy in the chatter! Thanks Stagler! You're the man of the hour!
  3. Yeah, bravo man! Thanks for the useful insight! this software is as intricate as you'd want to be isn't it? a grognordians dream
  4. Ive always attempted to manipulate my soldiers behaviors by the movement choices, like if they're looking for trouble I put them in HUNT mode, if they're into self-preservation I use SLOW & HIDE..ASSAULT is also useful when you need to get a reluctant frightened pixel troop to move his ass forward thru the door..Although Ive always thought more behavioral choices could benifit the games RPGish elements. However, having said that theres something very realistic about issuing orders to your men and keeping your fingers crossed that all the expierence, training and hit points are going to pay off in their actions--but their actions cant be predicted or controlled just like real life managment..Ive had great employees turn out to be thieves and then others that call in all the time have fantastic work ethic while they are on job. Thats some of the fun of this game- issue orders and then cheer them on or berate them for taking the longer way around a waypoint just like some real crusty sergeant.. "Keep your heads down!!! We aint in Kansas anymore ladies!!!!" haha..but yeah Id be game for any tweaks in this area
  5. I use a track ball exclusively with the combat mission series, customized right button zooms in/out....Moving around the map is much more fluid with a trackball and although I use WEGO I can see where being mobile thru map is even more important to RL mode...
  6. so you're saying quick step it to the door and then rather than targeting individual muji, just target area and that should get the pixel troop to throw his frags like he normally would in room clearing--ahh I see your logic. Thanks comrade Lanzfield!
  7. yes the same here...I pulled them out of my z folder for now? Something that can be fixed? Cause it really would add to the immersion of the game
  8. So it was in the nineth hour of one of my campaign missions and not only was my soviet company wiped out for the most part but the pixel troops that were left were out of ammo except for grenades, all be it, there were only 2 red bars in the grenade ammo slot. I found the team of snipers that had been using the company as target practice but like I said all my ragged group had were grenades..I arrempted to get them to throw the grenades into the room several ways--1)I set the movement on hunt mode all the way to intended target, my troops obeidantly complied in movement but threw no grenades even though the muji's were clearly in ther view 2) I next tried assault movement and although they clearly charged into and thru the room in zig zag fashion but no grenades! Consequently lost 3 more troops with that last foolish maneuver. MY question is this: What sets the standard for when and where soldiers use grenades and why didn't my pixel troops throw their grenades at such obvious targets?? They were out of other ammos-would this have anything to do with it and why? The battle was so close, a few grenades coulda changed the whole balance of what had been a bloody one sided affair..Enlighten this frustrated war gamer guys????
  9. yeah I know thats kind of creepy...Ive seen units clearing a trench, all enemy units already down (red) but not dead(dark brown) and one of my units actually shot them all until they were dark brown...I was disturbed by my pixel troops apparant war atrocities.....
  10. Oh wow I meant the liniear targeting as a way to try to dictate what direction the attacking plane/chopper comes in. DYSLEXIA: Its not just for kids anymore...
  11. that helps with the realism as well as far as enemy contact goes. So many great layers to this game!
  12. I think Jonny(FGM) is right, it is showing you where enemy movement has been detected although it does not always mean enemies are still in that area...I wonder do the question mark Icons stay on for the whole game once a a bandit is detected or does it disappear after a while when imfo is no longer relevant to the battle? and if so, what are the parameters to make this happen?
  13. Yeah, I stick thru a CM battle despite casualties, SNAFU's, ect because it has an interesting way of telling its own story--Kind of RPGish and Ive even turned some battles around to my advantage even when all looked lost in my little pixil world(some of the greatest RL battles happened because of 9th hour blind luck)...but I use WEGO thats about as RL as I want to get... Even if I lose a battle (battlefront your CM AI is wicked and cruel) I take something from it that made it worth the struggle....
  14. Yes no complaints from me either and Im quite the grognard when it comes to such details but just the ability for pixel troops to fire from BMP is great!
  15. 7) More variety of facial graphics please---- Check the repository for Face graphic mods there are several to add a little vareity to the pixel troops faces.. I agree with having the ability to lift weapons/ammo off of enemy WIA/KIA as I am currently in an ugly sittuation in CM:A campaign all my troops, the handful that are still alive that is, are empty on ammo and have already pilfered their fallen comrades gear yet surrounded by dead enemy with weapons... 6) More single player battle missions please----- Once again, keep watching the CM:A repository for single missions as this will continue to grow as folks upload their homegrown custom designed missions
  16. Ive used the point targeting to somewhat controll the direction air support will swoop in to some effect.
  17. yeah when I was first installing CM:A on vista I had to run as administrator as well to get it to launch. I too was hoping NATO would be in modern european theatre but Im not complaining either. Plenty of new toys with this module to keep this grognard more than happy...
  18. Any idea of what kind of system requirements we're gonna need for CM:N? Ive always appreciated the CM series being accessible even to those of us who either don't have supercomputers nor upgrade pc's annually...Im seeing great graphics in these bones but that has me worried on this subject because I live and breath the CM series.....
  19. ETA=Estimated Time of Delivery Looks good. Im currently reading a book(THE HIDDEN WAR) that mentions quite a bit about the salang pass.. Too bad you can't simulate avalanches on some of those steep cliffs...as this was apparantly a very real risk and happened fairly frequently sweeping convoy vehicles right off the side and then of course it was almost a bottleneck custom made for ambushes...Can't wait to play it!!!
  20. Actually Ive always played WEGO but after reading about your method using real time to your advantage and using a gamepad has tempted me to expierment in real time. What I have loved about WEGO is the ability to rewind and study every move, every units perspective, ect. One self imposed rule of mine is rendering buddy aid just like you would do in real life. Not too many modern soldiers/armies leave their comrades dead or injured if theres a chance to save them, even in dirty wars. Another thing I do is, in between games, read everything I can on the subject while listening to Afghani tribal music in surround sound. Ha! The sickness has spread too. Im also building a model of a BMP....
  21. yeah mine downloaded into documents as well
  22. Where can I find FRAPS? Tis it free software? Just tonight in CMA Ithe machine gunner in the back of a civilian truck took out one of my radio men with round exploding on wall some 4 city blocks away directly behind the poor pixel trooper. The icon turned a dark brown without much of a sound either expet for round exploding in distance some moments later. Yes Use WEGO when you really want to study the battle in its best details and great photo ops. But yeah I discovered print screen and paint program won't do it anymore??...
