  1. Kowalewski, Great looking mod, and the tanks are really impressive. Don't really want to throw any cold water on it, but I hope you don't plan to make tanks a significant unit in this mod. After all, tanks were very late in coming for WWI, and were not a major factor in it, at any rate. Doesn't mean they can't be in it though.
  2. As Sea Monkey just said, WOW! Can't wait for this one to be available. Your point is well taken about how well a computer will handle this one, but I'm willing to try. My computer appears to be of similar strength to Al's, so it will be interesting to see if it can handle it.
  3. I could be wrong, but I believe with just a few clicks in the Game Editor, you can quickly activate the artillery unit back into the game.
  4. This may not be the best strategy, but so far mine has worked well early on. I'm just holding the line in China while I pour money in techs as well as beefing up my existing units, and go island hopping into the UK's Pacific Islands. This has gained me enemies with other islands and Australia/New Zealand, but they don't seem to have much to work with, and taking many islands is easy so far.
  5. Eh....just how "strong" a computer are we talking about here, Nupremal?
  6. Since I believe my former message from several posts ago may have been overlooked (and I'm admittedly keen on having it seen by the development team), I've pasted it in below again: Hubert and Team, I quite agree with XW. In fact, I would offer something of a compromise solution: Make an expansion including some of the things XW mentions, but try to make a larger map GC campaign that is included (not replacing) the current 1939 World at War Campaign. This way, those who want the normal (smaller scale) world map campaign can, and those who prefer the larger scale, longer turn global campaign can pick that one as well. People in BOTH camps are happy, and people in both camps will buy the game. Some of us really don't mind the longer turns, more units, and perhaps more strategy involved with the bigger map. A similar example of this was the old Talonsoft game East Front/West Front. A player was able to choose between playing at the Battalion, Regiment, Division, and finally at the Corp level, each level. If one wanted to play a simple, smaller, and quicker campaign, they played at the Battalion or Regiment level. If they wanted a progressively bigger, more complicated level with bigger maps and more units, they played at the Division or Corp level. This worked well for whatever one chose, and I think it might work well with this game, except with just two sizes offered(and more units involved as well as strategies).

  8. Hubert, This may be true in the most general sense (about the ability to make bigger maps in the Editor, heck I even helped Bill Runacre testing out some map-creating instructions for the Editor), but for most of us out here who are not particularly computer tech savy and do not have a tremendous amount of time for creating these complex map devices, it would be nice if the developing team or modders could do this for the rest of us, or even add a big map or two into a potential expansion to GC in the near future. I'm sure someone will, and I can't wait for it to happen.
  9. Hubert/Moon, Game was downloaded, installed, and test run. No problems observed. Email received at 8:50 PM, EST.
  10. All, A few of us have seen Kuni's video here on another site. Excellent video, you will definitely enjoy it!
  11. Moon, Can you give us just a little more clarification perhaps on the game's release? Maybe, midnight tonight, Eastern Standard time perhaps? You have us all struggling to figure out that last message of yours on this thread. Let me guess: those with a birthday tomorrow get the first emails.... (I think Moon is playing the man with the candy jar in front of the children saying "who wants the first piece?" )
  12. So, I guess I can assume your name is......Bob. Care to enlighten us any further?
  13. Ludi, Here's my simplified answer: I agree with you on all points. Very good point on the naval supply idea of a naval HQ. I think that would work very well. The current way of supply at sea leaves a lot to be desired. A HQ seems better (think of it as supply ships at sea).
  14. Oh please, we aren't going to start groveling now, are we? (I can see JJ preparing one of those nifty scanned-in pics right now). I'm sure we just have to wait just a wee....bit.....more.
  15. Ludi, I must say, you put alot into that post. But could you put it just a LITTLE more simplistic for us without a PH.D. in World War II? I think I just overloaded a few brain cells trying to understand what you just said. No offense intended. I think I better take a few Advil. It hurts too much.
  16. Well, I'm not going to say you didn't, but... I get a message saying "due to this video containing music from Sony Entertainment, this video is no longer available in your country". Sorry Kinky, you'll have to come up with something better than that to get me convinced.
  17. No need to worry about May. My gut feeling (and it's only that) is the game will be available in the next 24 hours (or less). Can't wait to see the first "I got it!" post.
  18. Yolo, That should indeed be the case...probably REAL soon.
  19. I couldn't agree with you more, Sea Monkey. In fact, any and all posters are welcome to post an introduction about themselves in the "Intro to Veterans" sticky thread. Join the party! Many have already done so these past 3-4 months.
  20. Sea Monkey, Good point about the naval repair feature. How fast a ship is repaired in this game seemed to need some adjustments from what it currently is now, IMHO.
  21. PZGNDR, This really looks terrific. Have to congrat you (and certainly DD too) on a job very well done. As EE said, can't wait for GC's imminent release (I would imagine sometime in the next 3-4 days, maybe Tuesday after server maintenance?). One thing: I have heard it mentioned a few times about AI vs. AI. How is this possible? I have looked at the current games and editors over and over and still cannot see how to set things for AI control on both sides. Any hints on how this is accomplished? Or is it unique to just GC?
  22. Good question. I'm just guessing but perhaps along the lines of "forced march"?
  23. "Like father, like son. Think about it, won't you? Thank You. " (For you ole MST3000 fans)
  24. Alot of script writing would indeed be needed. My thought is the biggest change would be to the diplomatic/political angle. Perhaps many of the current Decision Events would have to be tossed/changed, and some sort of change would be needed to have the ability to create peace/armistice/ceasefire through diplomacy periodically through the longer super campaigns. Hubert, Just saw your post. Congrats on the baby boy!
