  1. Hi, I downloaded the 1938 scenario from the repository and I really like the map. I would like to enlarge and expand it to cover the world but that may be too large. So here is may question. Is there a way I can take a map document or image and copy it to the editor so that I can turn it into tiles? Is that possible? Cheers, Geofighter
  2. Hi BigAl, Okay, was able to change ownership of all the tiles for New Zealand and the Solomons and make them Australian. I also made Hong Kong and Malaya part of Burma. I then saved the 1936 file without a glitch. So far so good. That leaves me 4 open minors I can play around with and make into something else. I set a bunch of German tiles to "New Zealand." Later, I'll rename New Zealand into Austria. However. Here is where the capital problem occurs. How do I place a capital? The Country editor shows Vienna as a city in New Zealand but when I highlight it and click add to make it the capital I get an error message that I have to give New Zealand a capital? What step am I missing? Cheers, Geofighter
  3. Thanks BigAl for your reply. Let's start with #1. I'm using the map from the 1939 World at War Scenario. I'll start with the Solomons. I found all the tiles belonging to the Solomans and changed their ownership to Australia. Yet, I still couldn't save the game because the Editor says I have to have a capital for the Solomons. You were saying I have to remove all tiles. Does that mean I have to delete the very tiles tiles for the solomon Islands and recreate them. Boy, I sure don't want to do that? I read in the manual about making my own localization file in the scenario folder and that I can have less than 37 countries but that they will also still show even if the others aren't in use. Hmmm. Can I do this? How to I eliminate the Solomons as a minor country? Any help is advisable. Cheers, Geofighter:)
  4. Welcome Mudhugger, I bought Strategic Command Global Conflict (SCGC) last year when it first came out. It is the first Battlefront game I have ever Purchased and it has more than met my expectations. Here is what I really like about it. 1. Just as Seamonkey says, it's a good middle of the road game as far as complexity goes. If you have played Axis and Allies you got a good idea of what this game is like. Also, this game plays very closely to an old 1990's game called Panzer General. Very similar mechanics but not at all the same game. 2. It is modable. You can make it as hard or as easy as you like once you become familiar with scripts. You can turn them on or off as you like. Example: there is a script that gives the Italians a 25% chance of declaring war on Greece without the axis human players consent or control. You can turn that off if you don't like it. You can also write your own scripts to create your own historical or what if events. i.e. let's say you write a script that gives a chance that Staufenburg's or Rommel's plot to kill off Hitler works and you make some consequences for that action. I'm presently trying to design a 1936 scenario to open some other possiblities to the war. 3. This is the most important. You can come to this forum and the game designers are always reading this forum and respond. Hubert and Bill have always had a great turn around time to answering my questions and helping me solve problems with play. Where else can you get support from the actual designer of a product. That is outstanding customer service. Cheers, Geofighter
  5. Hi, Well, I'm working on a new campaign scenario for 1936 that I hope I can share with you. I'm running into a few difficulties, however, as I learn to use the editor. I figured out how to select tiles in countries and change their sovereignty. This has allowed me to create the boundries of Austria, Czechslovakia, and the Rhineland. However, none of that is holding out. That leads me to ask how I... 1. Get rid of minor countries I don't want 2. Create new minor countries I do want. 3. An issue with saving. When I try to save the scenario French Polynesia wants a capital. It has a city, Pepette(spelling?) The campaign edit window gives me the option to move Pepette from city to capital but when I click the add button it says it needs a capital. What am I doing wrong? Cheers,
  6. Hi Bill, Thank you for your reply. I'll do that. Same needs to be said for China too. It doesn't let American planes resupply on it (Imagine that!) I noticed something else. In 1947 the U.S./Britian have conquered Germany and U.S. troops are right next to the Maikop(spelling?) oil field in Russia. The space is not occupied. However, not matter how the U.S. troops try to enter the space the Soviets must have created a secret "force field" wall to protect them as the American's cannot enter it. Any suggestions? Cheers and Happy New Year! Geofighter
  7. Hello, I spent much of my Christmas break playing the Alliance of Evil scenario in SCGW. It's been fun and a unique twist on history. I'm playing the allies. France has held by the skin of it's teeth. The Americans are now firmly in place to save her, as well as the wine, women and cheese. The Russians have amassed a huge army in the east but can't get past the Chinese in Peking after an initial blitz through Manchuria. The Chinese also benefit from American and Japanese carriers/battleships that are pounding the Russian masses. Now, here is where I have a question about playability and options to the game. I have landed Japanese armies in China to support her in the west. However these armies cannot reinforce or upgrade in china, not even in cities. Likewise, the American navy cannot reinforce/upgrade in Japanese ports. Why is that? Can't there be scripts/options made that allow for better Sino-Japanese-American cooperation? Cheers Geofighter
  8. Thanks Hubert, I don't need to send you the file. I got a download manager on my computer that extracted and installed v1.04 just fine. I love it. No glitches that cause crashes. Best to you always, Geofighter
  9. Thank you Snowstorm. Another question. What do I open the patch 1.04 with and which strategic command folder do I put it in?
  10. Hi Folks, I've been away for a while. Life comes first ya know. Hubert, I hope all is well with you and your new child (should be a year old now I'm guessing). Okay, I had to take SCGC off my computer and just now reloaded it. (Yeah!) I see that more patches have been made since I left. Here is where I need help before I start playing again I want all the patches in place. Questions Do I have to load all the patches in order (v1.01, v1.02, v1.03, then v1.04) or just the latest (v1.04)? The next following questions are mute if the answer to above is I only need to download v1.04 above. I downloaded the patches to my download folder from worthplaying website. It shows two v1.03 downloads (v1.03 and v1.03 [EXC]) does it make a difference which one I download and to my computer? are they two different downloads that I have to have? Finally, I put the downloads in the download folder. When I clicked on v1.01 file to open it asks me what I wish to open the file with. Good question? what file and where do I put the patch files? Long time since I put this one. Cheers, Geofighter:) P.S. You always have the best customer service in town!
  11. Thanks, helped to let out a little fury. I the glitch stopped. I think the "loop" disable didn't happen right away. You're right about it being nearly impossible to to take on the U.S. but this is a game, not a historical remake. It hasn't been easy taking the U.S. and Canada I was almost annihilated by the U.S. navy with very few ships surviving. Still these are playability issues to me. The AI should be restricted to rules too. A neutral major power cannont enter the territory of an aligned neutral power if not both at war with the same enemy. Says so in the rules. Also, I can see why it one shouldn't be able to attack units that just come over a loop because there aren't enought loops to bring over a large force en mass. Still, once those units move or attack they should become fair game. Oh, and when you turn off a script, then the script should turn off. Period. That's my take.
  12. Okay, these are about game mechanics here. Not what I'd like as a player for what if scenarios. Now I am really PO'ed. I thought I bought a good product but maybe I thought wrong. I am extremely upset and angry at this game right now and I plan to mail my disk back to the company (yes, I'm seriously that angry) It's like this game was never play tested before release. At least from an Axis perspective. I overcame the port confiscations when I declared war on the U.S. by blowing them out of the water. Still, It goes against game playability to let the U.S. pass in allied ports when it is neutral. You cannot successfully invade Canada if the U.S. has all 3 canadian ports plugged up. Furthermore, even with all the "loops" turned off the U.S. is still moving troops from Western Canada to the east. It wouldn't be so bad except they cannot be attacked until they move. Again. If the loop is turned off this shouldn't be happening. The U.S. is pooping armies all around Winnipeg that I can't touch. That makes the game unplayable! I lose because I cannot attack the enemy. I thought this is the best WWII game ever. I'm thinking now I have been ripped off by a broken game system. Still, I faith that this can be fixed. Angrily yours, Geofighter
  13. Okay, here is what I have learned about the USA. In the scenario I am playing the USA is neither at war with Germany or Japan. It's still neutral. However, here is what I noticed the USA gets away with. 1. It has ships in the harbors of St. John's and Halifax. Yet, the US is neutral. This has become a serious disruption to axis invasion of Canada. 2. The Germans control the Seuz canal. However, an amphibious transport just sailed right through it as if they controlled it. 3. US navy in the pacific likes to park itself in Japanese sea space blocking ports and axis. 4. US still built a tank group on the canadian side of border near Vancouver When the time comes to go to war with the US, I'll say this. They have given the axis enough "casus beli" to ignite it. Cheers, geofighter
  14. Thanks Hubert, Your recommendation fixed the problem. Quite interesting to learn. Best WWII game I've played. :)
  15. I exported the dates too. Not sure if it is working correctly.
