  1. Awosme, this is what I am most looking forward to in the Brits Module!!!
  2. great ideas! I especially like the convoy command, because if you are trying to move more than three or four vehicles down a twisty road, it becomes a hassle. 16) T junctions for trenches and walls. 17) curved road tiles
  3. it's a good point. Can you "steal" 12.7mm ammo from an M2 equiped HUMMWV or Stryker?
  4. Yeah, I wasn't aware of the size of the warheads, thanks guys.
  5. Yes, especially, if you have a majority of the squad killed or wounded and the rest are supressed.
  6. I haven't run into too many situations where this is a problem, because with the right menuvering, you can generally keep most of your men out of deep sh**. I enjoy realistic things like this, they are what set CMSF apart from "normal" strategy games. When your life is on the line, you will make a decision , whether it be flee, return fire and grit your teeth, or cower and probably die. The inclusion of the first one is vital for the experience to feel real. But what happens when the marines have nowhere to fall back to tho? I'm making a CMSF version of the Battle for LZ X-Ray, and my veteran Marines squads keep falling back (which I don't blame them for, cuz they are recieving a helluvalot of enemy fire) into the center of the LZ, however, is there a point where they are forced to make a "last stand"?
  7. Started playing it, but none of your images showed up in the briefings. I think that you put JPEGs in instead of BMPs. Fun scenario tho. Good work.
  8. I was wondering why rocket artillery has been left out of the US. arsenal in CMSF? The MLRS is a very important and powerful artillery system that would no doubt play a huge part in any ground based invasion. What normal howitzer artillery have in saturation ability, the MLRS makes up for in accuracy and diversity of weapon types. When in doubt, fire a rocket filled with hundreds of tiny cluster bombs.
  9. you could try setting the Btn. HQ as a reinforcement that will arrive after the battle is done? unless your battle is 2 hrs long, then I dont know.
  10. try watching the tutorial, it's very helpful.
  11. 1) Till I beat it or am satisfied with my performance on the battlefield. 2)No, not usually, unless it was really, really good. 3)Yes, because if you don't beat it on the first try, your second experience can be completely different, almost like you downloaded 2 different scenarios. 4) Same as cmfan, basically all Blue vs. AI
  12. So if say, a UH-60 Blackhawk had to insert troops into a hot LZ, would they just come in with both miniguns (how many models of UH-60s have miniguns anyway?) and any troops with the ability to fire their weapons outside the cabin a`blazin to keep anyone with a pesky shoulder mounted SAM with his face in the dirt? Are troops allowed to fire their small arms from within the cabin unless the situation is really bad?
  13. I totally agree, in fact, funnily enough, just before I checked the forums I began working on a CMX2 version of the battle for LZ-Xray in the Ia Drang Valley. I enjoy "last stand" type battles of a few veteran troopers against hordes of greens and conscripts. So far, as I go through the infantry formations available to me for blue, it fits fairly well, minus the Javelins and such. And for the red, well the Vietnamese and Syrians both use very similar outdated Soviet equipment, so that should be easy. Good luck with Dien Bien Phu That'll be a mouthfull.
  14. I'll buy anything with a Challenger II in it....
  15. does anyone know of any detailed syria maps that i can use as the base for the program described above? I can find a lot of maps of Syria, but they are all too broad. Thanks
  16. Wow!! Thats an awesome program, thanks George.
  17. Thanks Seabee for creating this, it is incredibly useful. I have never used Microsoft Access, so I don't know how difficult this would be, but is it posible to allow the use of arrow keys to navigate the list of mods ? It works great without it, but occasionally I get lazy and don't feel like using a mouse
  18. How are the operational and theater maps of Syria used in the TF Thunder Campaign made? They have a very distnct feel, and I want my scenarios to fit in with the ones that shipped with the game. Is it a special program or is it just some cool looking maps with some blue and red arrows pasted onto them in Paint. Any and all help is appreciated.
  19. stikkypixie, I usually send 2 of my squads towards the really close one (NAI 2 i think), while I send the other one on the other side of the map to check out NAI 3 and 5. Then I use my Humvees to scout the small urban NAI and then at the end I converge everyone from all sides on NAI 4 (i think).
  20. Also, on the first mission, make SURE you have your M1s in overwatch for your forward elements, or you may be in for a nasty surprise later on in the scenario. Another thing that helped me alot was to arm all of your squads withe the javelins from their Bradleys. That way you dont have to risk your tanks or Brads if you see some IFVs or MBTs.
  21. ahhhh, quite simple, should have thought of that. Thanks
  22. George, do you have a way that you copy the same map for use in different scenarios, or do you redo them from scratch?
  23. Ok so, basically, air assault is still a viable option for an operation, but due to the large number of cheap, easily acquired shoulder mounted AA weapons, it is extremely risky for helicopters to fly en mass into a hot LZ. Thanks for all you're input guys.
  24. Thanks Flanker, that helps a lot. I'm writing a short story that has some tankers in it, so I want it to feel authentic. ShaneO, thanks, I have never heard of it before, so i plan on renting it.
