Not to mention Sergei's amazing taxi cab infantry Kind of a shame that there is not a whole hell of a lot of activity over on the Paradox subforum for this. Susana is getting a little behind on the news posts! And may I suggest the first few AAR writers (if you guys do this?) post a copy over there as well to drum up some support.

I was going to comment on Scorched Earth finally getting a modern update.

CAUTION, Will have screenshots - Scenario Design
Dr. Zoidberg replied to rune's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Afraid not, Huntarr. Take a look. As you can see, BFC is clearly resorting to ripping off another game titled "Combat Mission: Strike Force" and claiming it as their own. Really, I had thought they were above that. -
http://www.paradoxshop.com/ You can order a boxed copy from Paradox here. The buy link in the other page is for their Gamersgate download service, which CMSF is not available on. The difference in price is for a number of reasons that I am aware of... Preordering from BFC means you are able to download it on release in addition to them mailing a boxed copy. Whereas ordering from Paradox either gets you a boxed Paradox copy, or a download on release. BFC would presumably have to shell out some cash for their servers to support the downloading, and get some pennies in the bank for what seems to be a good service. The Paradox boxed version also comes with an 80 page manual as opposed to BFC's 200 page manual, so obviously the 200 page manual is more expensive to print.

Maybe something to look forward to in an addon.

Does this mean the game has gone gold?

Jaguar, When will your review be up, if you don't mind me asking? Are you locked down until release date or..what's up? -
Nah, I clicked it and it just takes you to a site telling you the game will be available July 27th. Doesn't do anything else.

Who said the Americans could go first ?
Dr. Zoidberg replied to Matchstick's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
They had previously announced the release as those dates, but it seems there was a bit of a mix up (or screw up) on one side or the other. Battlefront announced the proper date (July 27th) shortly after that date was debunked. Looks like somebody just forgot to edit a page to reflect the new date. -
System Reqs - Come Bitch Here!
Dr. Zoidberg replied to Severin's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I'm actually rather surprised at how low the minimum specs are. Can't imagine real time would be much fun if you barely creep above the minimum (perhaps with settings on low), but fortunately I nearly match the suggested specs. Fortunately video cards are pretty cheap nowadays. A serviceable 6600/6800 should only run you about $60. Quite a step up from the FX line. -
I have actually not had a bad experience with Starforce although I do not doubt that it causes problems somehow. I've experienced Securom's temper first hand. Picked up Neverwinter Nights 2 back when it was released, to this day Securom is still a real prick about realising it's a legitimate disk in the drive. And you're absolutely right, beast. It is not much of an obstacle to pirates/crack makers, but it causes unnecessary grief for legit users. I don't think having to use a no cd crack to be able to play a legit copy of a game can be considered a good thing.

I pity whoever buys the retail version.

I would be surprised if that were the case. They have published other titles here and I have purhcased several PC games from stores that only have English on the box. [ June 30, 2007, 04:18 PM: Message edited by: Dr. Zoidberg ]

I hear it increases your killing power.

Good question, interested in the answer to this as well. Appreciate the info on the preordering, Moon. [ June 29, 2007, 05:02 PM: Message edited by: Dr. Zoidberg ]

Going to wait for a comment from BFC. Specifically if they'll be doing their own download on release and have a copy mailed to you at the same time deal. Unfortunately last order I had with Paradox was not quite satisfactory, though I think they have since worked on that. But yeah, the boxed copy preorders from Paradox are available now.

The Chicago Preview Podcast
Dr. Zoidberg replied to Joe Shaw's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Definitely worth a listen, good of you to get this together Joe Shaw. Or should I say... James Lipton. (Or Bob Newhart, if you prefer) [ June 27, 2007, 09:10 PM: Message edited by: Dr. Zoidberg ] -

Am I correct in assuming that bringbacks are not permitted anymore? -
Mines, wire, breaching operations and CMSF.
Dr. Zoidberg replied to kipanderson's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
As Kip said, he is also looking to the future with CMX2 Normandy. Not just CMSF. -
See what you've started, Jaguar? Great preview, very much appreciate you sticking around the forums. IIRC you did the same for EU3!
