a bit discontentment about target line
z1812 replied to popllt's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Hi All, Over the weekend, during a game, I ordered a squad across some open area , taking advantage of smoke that the enemy had popped. All was well until they advanced passed the "end waypoint" and out into the open. They were all killed. Also moving squads does not always work so well as some of the members do not find the intended cover. I try to avoid this by splitting sqauds. Although sometimes it does not work as intended because they spontaneously re-combine. Hopefully odd aspects of infantry behaviour can be fixed. I still enjoy the game and ascribe the little bugs as "the fortunes of war" or "bad digital squad leadership". You know the type. Wet behind the ears lieutenant won't listen to experienced sargent. Hi All, Just tried to connect with a fellow who had a gamersgate copy patched to 1.04 ( mine is BF 1.04). Game crashed as soon as he clicked the start button. regards John -

Hi All, As an update I was able to connect and play 2 games online today. I did uninstall and reinstall the game using the cumulative patch instead of the incremental one. Mind you the games were puntuated with crash problems. When trying to play a 3rd game we just gave up as the game kept crashing repeatedly to desktop within 2 minutes of starting. Regards John -
Hi All, When having a sqaud aquire Anti-Tank non-javelin weapons, the screen shows that they were aquired. Yet upon dismounting the sqaud they do not have the weapons. Nor are they any longer part of the Bradleys available weapons. Regards John

Hi Madmatt, Thank you for the feedback. Regards John -
Hi All, I can confirm that one cannot connect using hamachi either. You progress to the game screen. then a message appears to the joiner that says. Setup Phase: Loading Data.......it does not progress any further. As host you may place units normally but the joiner never makes it past the loading phase. Regards John

Hi All, Tonight at the Proving grounds I could not host or connect to another player. We have played in the past without major problems. We were using direct connection through the game. We could not try with hamachi as my oponent does not use it. Both of us had 1.04 We both tried hosting and joining. It did not work. Even with the previous versions I had no problems with online connections. This is only since we patched to 1.04. Regards John

Hi All, I have uploaded my z1812's 5 Set Blue scenarios to http://www.cmmods.com There are 5 scenarios meant to be played from the Blue side only. Each on the same map but with a different Red A.I. plan each time. All are 20 minutes long. I hope they give some enjoyment to those who play them. Regards John

Hi All, I am having a great time with online play. I try to play smaller scenarios with fewer units and a short time limit. Seems to work for me. The game is very, very good. RegardsJohn

Hi All, I also miss kill statistics. It was one of those items that created interest for me while doing a post mortem of a game. Especially with a human opponent. The old question of "what got my AT gun on the hill" or " what the hell killed all my infantry in the village" could usually be answered. Regards John

Hi All, I was just wondering about how the modules will fold into the editor. Would the following be correct? As a module is released any different terrain files added can be used by the editor . So the editor becomes generic for all the modules. At the same time unit modules are stand alone. So you could make one map that could be used across different modules. Is that right? Regards John

Hi All, When the pathing works properly micromagement can obviously be reduced. My observations are that pathing works about 80% of the time. However entering buildings is one of the higer ratio actions for poor pathfinding. This is based on playing 1.03. Not extensive testing but what I have noticed so far. Sqauds I have ordered to enter a building will sometimes ignore a door in front of them to run around to the opposite side So I would have to agree with Kip that this is a drawback to tactical movement. Hi CoG, Very good news to hear. Thanks again for all your work. Regards John -
Hi Prez, I have had the same concerns. They can be resolved by playing with the different options for victory points and it does take a lot of time. I don't know a lot about it but can share the solution I used. I changed from using victory location objectives to only using unit objectives and that made my scenario work the way I intended. Even so I had to spend quite a bit of time focusing on the balancing as, like you, I did not find red particularly aggressive. In fact in the briefing notes I suggest, played as blue for the firt time, that blue does not aquire javelins. Regards John [ August 30, 2007, 05:41 AM: Message edited by: z1812 ]

Hi All, I have found that smoke works really well to cover movement and is particularly useful for infantry assaults. Regards John

Hi Chops, Regardless of whatever time you choose your scenario to start the exit before/after timer begins at 00:00. Compute from there. In one scenario I am making one group would not move as directed. I changed the start and finish locations on the map and that did the trick. I hope that helps.
