  1. Hi I ´ve been wondering about this grau and gelb thing for quite a while now - without being able to find any answers by searching this forum. My questions are these: In CMBB the base colors of the german AFVs change from grey to yellow in march 43. Is that a historical fact - or just a CMBB thing? Did the germans simply decide that grey was SO last year and withdrew all vehicles in march 43 to repaint them for a new spring collection? And why? Did they consider yellowish colors to be better camoflage? Or was it simply because they´d got stuck with a huge surplus of yellow paint when the north african-campaign ended? Cheers
  2. I have the loser version of the game? No wonder it´s so hard to win then... :-D
  3. Hi Here are my latest mud mods. This time it´s MikeyD´s Pz IIIF and Pz IIIG that has been the innocent victims of my mud splashing. Hope you like them - and please feel free to tell me what you think of them. I´ll probably be messing up some other AFVs soon. The mods can of course be found at: www.cmmods.com Cheers
  4. Sad news, indeed. I had really been looking forward to playing this game - it sounded really promising. But: So it goes, as Vonnegut says. Thanks for the effort - I hope you haven´t lost too much of your money and spirit in the process. Cheers
  5. OK, Harry. Seems like I´m running out of excuses... I´ll try to make a H2H version and drop you a line on TPG, when it´s ready - probably in a couple of weeks or so. :-) Cheers
  6. @Harry: Thanks a lot for the comment on "City Salient". And point taken about the lack of a H2H-version: I know, I know, but I´m just not really a H2H-player (for various reasons, one of them probably being that I hate to lose ;-)) and I fear it´ll be hell trying to balance this scenario. So I´m still sort of building up the courage for giving it a try. As for the infantry, I too have been considering modding uniforms: Muddy boots, green/brown knees and elbows - and perhaps brown seats of pants? But it will be a huge task, so I don´t think it will be on MY plate in the forseeable future. @ chrizwit2: Yeah, that always seem to be the problem with mods: Once you´ve made one look just right, it also means you´ve made all the others look wrong. But I´m working on it and I´ll soon have a muddy version of MikeyD´s Pz III F & G ready. Don´t know how many I´ll make though. cheers
  7. The link above doesn´t seem to work. I´ll try again. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=38515
  8. Hi Waffen Camo I think it is the scenario "Stalingrad Station" - but a version edited to suit my Stalingrad-ish building mods. Anyway, I just used the map from the scenario as a backdrop for these screenshots - they´re not from an actual game. You can see more info about the mods below. A bit of warning if you want to use the mods, though: Due to the limitations of the game the mods are far from perfect. You should thus read the readme files before use, in order to avoid unpleasant surprises. Or read this thread: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=259 Cheers Umlaut
  9. Very glad you like them, Uncle Tgt: Your mods are among my favorites. :-) I´ll try posting the pics again: They were a bit too small.
  10. Hi Just wanted to tell you that I´ve uploaded a muddy mod-version of Uncle Tgt´s grey Marder and Wespe. My reasons for making the mod is simple: I´ve always thought that the BFC standard vehicles look a little too clean and neat. Like they´re just coming out of the factory and haven´t been anywhere near a battlefield. For this reason I´ve begun to collect the various dirty/muddy/dusty modded versions of the vehicles that I could find at cmmods.com. Unfortunately, not all the AFVs are to be found in dirty versions. One of those I couldn´t find was the Marder III, so I decided to try to make my very first vehicle mod. Once I had found out how Gautrek´s great vehicle mod tutorial works with photoshop, I discovered it wasn´t that complicated after all. But maybe this is because I haven´t done much more than just smear a bit of mud and a few streaks of rust on Uncle Tgt´s mods. Anyway, please feel free to tell me what you think of them. I´ll probably be splashing mud on some other AFVs soon. Cheers Here some pics:
  11. Hi I can´t tell you exactly what to do, as I´m also quite mystified as to why the T-34 hesitates. But one thing you CAN do which might help in this kind of situation is to give the tanks a "cover armor"-order. That should at least make sure that they don´t get distracted by mortars and other low-priority targets at the most crucial moment. If you´re not familiar with the "cover armor"-order, I think the best solution is to select the tank and then press "v". Then a green(blue?) line stretching from the tank to the cursor should appear. Let the green line pass through the StuG (preferebly all the way out of the map) and then hold down "shift" as you right-click. You should now have a "cover armor"-arc with the StuG in the centre. This will ensure that the T-34´s gun will always be pointing towards the StuG and that it will only fire at armored targets within the arc (or at immidiate threats). But whether it will still be reluctant to fire - that I don´t know. Hope this helps.
  12. Hi I´ve just checked it out - and I think it looks great. So I´ve downloaded it as well. :-) Cheers
  13. Hi Brian The problem could be that you haven´t installed the three patches for CMBB. Most players - and scenario designers - have these patches installed and you then have to have them installed too to be able to load their scenarios in CMBB. Hope this helps. BTW: I can´t remember where I found the patches way back - only that they weren´t that easy to find. If you can´t find them, give me a poke - and I´ll mail them to you.
  14. Well, in my game it´s called just that: "Saved Games". It´s in the "Combat Mission 2"-folder. My game is the CDV-version - don´t know if it´s different if you have the other version. Edit: Sorry, I thought this was a question regarding CMBB. Just realised this is for CMAK. Anyway, I don´t believe it´s much different in CMAK - except I think that the "Saved Games"-folder might be in another folder called "Run" - if I remember correctly (I haven´t got CMAK installed at the moment)
  15. Well, I´m actually in doubt whether there´s even five CM players in my country, Denmark. I think, I´ve only come across two or three danes in this forum. So five at one wedding...wow BTW: Does anyone know of any female CM-players? Just curious. Cheers
  16. Hi I´m pretty sure that the colored bands are supposed to represent this (at least this is what I´ve always assumed): Front: Upper band: Front turret Middle band: Front upper hull Lower band: Front lower hull Side: Upper band: Side turret Middle band: Side upper hull Lower band: Side lower hull Rear: Upper band: Rear turret Middle band: Rear upper hull Lower band: Rear lower hull Cheers
  17. I´d like to add a little piece of advice that I myself have found very useful in learning the game along with for instance "save-reload": In the beginning I used to save and surrender a lot in order to discover how my attacks had affected the opposition. After studying the oppo force I then reloaded - and adjusted my tactics. Personally, I think this probably has been the most useful learning tool. This is of course cheating - just as save-reload - but still very useful at first when you don´t know how the game works. I hardly ever do it anymore: Now I know how the game works - and basically I´d only be cheating myself by doing it. Cheers
  18. Unfortunately, Kingfish is wrong: You CAN cross water barriers with sewer movement. I´ve tested this in my "River City"-map. I ordered a platoon of german infantry to cross from a factory on the mainland to a factory on a small island in the river. The distance from the shore to the island is at least three tiles. Two of the three squads managed to get across the river. One squad ended up in it´s starting position - and the HQ never surfaced again. Of course - in my opinion - you shouldn´t be able to do this. I don´t think it can be many - if any - cities that have build sewers that cross under rivers. Cheers
  19. I don´t think you´re doing anything wrong: It´s just that CM uses the same bmp-file for both sides - and one of the sides then inevitably will become mirrored. That´s why it seems the most common number on the sides of tanks is: 808
  20. Hi Jock I don´t know of any bitmap list, though I guess someone some where has probably made one. I´m pretty sure, though, that some of the modders in this community has already made some sort of Pacific Theatre mod. I´m not really that interested in that part of the war, so I haven´t looked deeper into it, but I´m sure I´ve seen references to pacific mods here on this forum. Have you tried searching for it? You should also try a search at cmmods.com Cheers
  21. I ´ve made these damaged building (Stalingrad-ish) mods, you´ll be able to find at cmmods.com. Look below.
  22. Maybe you´re thinking of the Map Converter: An ingenius little invention that allowes you to convert CMAK maps into CMBB maps - amongst other things. But as far as I know it doesn´t allow you to export the troops in a scenario: So if you´ve converted a map, you´ll then have recreate the OOB and such, At least that´s what I think. Cheers The programme is here: http://www.pyes-ct.de/mc.html
  23. I´m having the exact same problem when I load CMAK in my external CD-drive - last time was yesterday. The thing with my game is that the fault is only sporadic. But I´ve discovered that other games doesn´t work there either. So at least in MY case, I´m pretty sure that the CD-drive is to blame - not the game. Have you tried to load other games into the drive? Cheers
  24. I´ll also recommend "Heart of Stalingrad" by Richard "Richie" Rogers. And of course remember: To obtain the most realistic athmosphere, you should play the scenarios with Umlauts Stalingrad mods. Here´s a little trailer for an operation, I´ve made for the mods: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaDKS9kX3DE cheers
  25. Looks really good, IMO. Could we have some more details about when and where this camo was used? Cheers
