  1. still, the french would of just as unwilling to fight. britain would have bveen unable to help. The real outcome of this would of given britain a year to catch up faster, and distracted germany from being able to invade norway maybe.
  2. i didnt thinkl the super pershing was real? only a tst model or perhaps a standard pershing with more arnour welded to it. Are you sure its real?
  3. churchill tanks of the northern irish light horse. Purely for being the first western allied tanks to knock out tiger tanks by direct fire.
  4. i think the point is that whilst sides could have different play balances. The generic game would remove the realistic time line of units and progression of tactics, forces would be arranged with one universal set list i assume? Simplfying tactics learning curve, but still allowing deep tactical play? I assume this is the point....... But this could be done in say drop team style no reason this has to be generic per say.
  5. but jason c? the french commanders and politicains proved, unwilling to fight and many were vichy collaborators. what amkes you think anything would be different in 1938?
  6. this isnt aimed at any one. spill the beans then or stop acting like children.
  7. i think dorosh is just trying to wind you all up. Think about it, if revealing details of the new game was a bannig offence someone with as many entries as dorosh certainly wouldnt go around hinting he had any information. Not on his account with his ip logged now would he!
  8. www.battlefield.ru/library/weapons7.html an intersting article oin the quality of king tigers.
  9. edited because i hallucinated and responded to a post that wasnt here!
  10. it does. best way to use at teams to knock out tanks. v infantry like jason c says its not always the best idea, although it can be useful on the defence especialy when setting up mg snd mortar ambushes.
  11. just a few points to add, 1. my percentages were from an osprey book, so they are rpimary so to speak. But they are an average and not typical load out!, this is important to note.(so stoat and michael both your points are correct). 2. The super pershing, was never produced in any real number, nor did it see any action(or very little). The pershing itself had problems with relaibility, atleast in korea. Where it broke down so much that many tank crews opted to return to there shermans. Although this was fixed, as the patton tank was actualy a pershing but with newer suspension and a better engine i think. 3. On stoats point about shermans having to run into enemy tanks as the spear of an engagement, i have this qoute from opsreys 76mm sherman medium tank 1943-65. "while it is conceeded that the primary objective of our armour is to engage the enemy infantry, artillery, and rear installations, experience has shown that the enemy will always counter ana rmoured penetratiomn with his own armour. Therefore, in order to operate successfully against remunerative and desirable enemy installations, we shall first have to defeat enemy armour. to do this, we must have a fighter tank which is superior to the fighter tank of the enemy. available information on characteristics of german compared to those of our nation show that no american tank can equal the german panther in all-round performance" USA armoured command at fort knox april 17th 1944.
  12. okay. fir the us army the stndard loadout was, approximatly 70% he, 20%ap and 10% smoke. I got this from ospreys shermen medium tank book. I believe the uk issued more ap but i dont know. I have read a couple of sources tht qoute a apcr round manufactured for the 75mm gun. However it was used for training purposes only. My sources for this however were a couple of web pages, so im not sure if its true.
  13. no offence elmar, all im saying is that you can say that about anything near enough. thats what an infantry at weapon is. i rarely lose tanks to panzerfausts or bazooka's or indeed shrecks. but i think it depends more on the map, than anything else.
  14. extreme fow is cool though. its easier for you to sneak about too!
  15. hmmm. maybe set up like thus. 800 points total. 400 from infantry 100 from support 100 from vehicles 200 from tanks etc?
  16. ah yes i see. on that level i agree.
  17. not interested in his scores. The fact of the matter is irl without the enemy making mistakes piats killed enemy tanks. There fore your and his assurtion is that he is a better tactician than any ww2 commander, which is quite frankly bs. So no you and he are wrong and thats it. Just to clarify, i mean no personal offence to either of you. its just that typical play for me atleast is just to general and too brand a statement to make. its on par with saying in a typical game a sherman will not knock out a tiger. 18. yes i agree. i believe on close combat there was such an effect. i ordered a team to attack a tank column but it refused until the last tank passed.
