  1. Unfortunately, I can only second Terif here. By the looks of it, extra supply in France for the invading allies will create problems. And as Blashy has said, indeed that new city seem very easy to capture - fortifications in front of Paris will not help forever - think that once landed, allies will enjoy a lot of supply, hence readiness, morale etc and with the help of air support will pulverize any fortifications in 2 turns. think that the addition of roads and railroads will complicate things for the germans - allies can pursue a SB strategy with far more success here, effectively interdicting the flow of german reinforcements and supply. Combined with an increased supply for the invading allies, defending France as Axis seems quite an utopia
  2. managed to do it afer several tries - took out the 2 tanks in the field on the right side, disabled somehow the Char1 with distant tank gun fire (he and apc) then rushed directly the AT guns (those who trigger the reinforcements)with 3 tanks, knocked them out losing 1 tank in the process, then the rest it was easy. (AT guns form the hilltop were knocked out earlier by long range tank fire (HE).
  3. I find the impossibility to resupply with ammo your units very, very annoying - for example I played the second mission dealing with russians of the german campaign and killed everything except one T34 which was immobilized in a distand corner of the map - the battle wouldn't end and I watched my remaining tanks sitting there for nothing because they had no shells to fire at the T34. Nothing could touch that tank, not even infantry with grenades because the tank was off map. Moreover while towing a PAK (my last chance of killing that tank), the truck was hit in the tire and got stuck - because of this, no one could de-attach the PAK from the truck (soldiers kept entering the truck and exiting) - now that T34 was truly invulnerable. So: 1. Possibility to resupply with ammo? It is pretty annoying to spend 1h+ on a mission and to be not able to complete it because of a single unit left and no friendlies that can fire at it. 2. Possibility of conducting field reparations? This may be difficult, but interesting nonetheless. 3. Ability to detach a gun from the truck even if the truck is damaged - it really has no relevance if the truck is damaged ,that hook can be worked upon and guns de - attached, it's pretty obvious.
  4. @Targul -> Malta ca be taken but you're looking at a long campaign unless you amass a lot of assets against it: 1. You need to keep the fortress at 0 AND the port at 0 all the time. In SC2, ports act as a supply source as well so bombing Malta fortress is not enough to kill the supply. For this use your italian ships and bombers/rockets if you got them. The ships alone should do the trick anyway. 2. Airfleets start bombing the garrison and eventually due to reduced garrison strength (if you destroyed the fortress and port), very low morale due to ships/air attacks, the defender will be killed.
  5. Romania receives another bump in readiness once Germany DOWs USSR - sooner or later you will get Romania
  6. IT effect is limited to national resources only - i think it should stay that way, Axis is getting 70% of the real estate pretty fast and if you allow IT for conquered resources as well, you have to add to USSR_UK_USA alliance the Romulan Star Empire to balance things out
  7. got the same feeling as some of you guys - ATGs are t3h Sni(+)peRz Tried several times (dunkerque scenario, playing as the germans) to disable some frog ATGs in the open (well more or less open, there is grass around...I guess:P ) using only infantry - ordered them to sneak towards the ATG location and throw grenades. No way ! Those ATG guns snipe your crawling infantry like there's no tommorrow! I wish I could use some sort of smoke screen...
  8. 'against a veteran Axis player you need a bid for an even game.' This is true - we used to play with bids up to 250 or 300 mpps in a 1:5:30 system -> i.e. UK receives 1 x bid, USA 5 x bid, USSR 30 x bid. If you opponent is not a H2H veteran but only used to play the AI, perhaps you should try bidding in 50-100 range using 1:5:30.
  9. actually those are panthers overall much more effective than the Koenigstiger
  10. apparently in our game you did not have such problems - you used transports to spot/block big time ... it all boils down to how well can you use them, right? because as the game is now, it is worth losing a transport instead of a ship - you just buy the corps back at full price. it would be interesting that transports lost at sea should lower your hard cap - this indeed would make this tactic not so useful
  11. Ref. spotter transports: An aspect I don't particularly like in SC2 although I use it from time to time usually to be on par with my opponent in this respect Using 40k troops in fragile transport ships to spot/block enemy naval activity is ga(y)mey as hell
  12. Unlikely As I understand from the AAR, Axis was able to apply the Yoda's overwhelming force tactic in Russia while keeping the Wallies busy with a side show. Because what the Wallies are fighting is: 1 - a naval and air war around the british isle and 2 - a side action in Africa. They do not threaten directly Axis' european vital spots - Berlin, Munich, Paris, Rome, Warsaw - it is clear the intention of Axis to harass the Wallies until Russia is down. As enjoying as it may seem - from a tactical perspective (very interesting tactical decisions by both of them) - my opinion is that Axis has a huge strategic edge in this game. @Jolly - Urals are an extraordinary spot to lanuch a counter provided the Axis was forced to operate a lot of ground troops to west Against full axis power concentrated in east, there ain't no such place
  13. Actually lr and jets came post barbarossa Axis had lr 1 pre barbarossa, only. Weird enough, the last battle was a surprise - I was moving the ships towards portugal-west africa but got intercepted by super LR carriers In Finland it was weird as well - terif captured finland and prepared to get sweden with 2 red paras and support from uk troops from norway, leaving in helsinki only a lousy partisan unit One turn before, I spotted his paras and prepared amphibs to try to counter the attack on sweden but instead i captured helsinki Eventually the axis troops from Finlad got killed with only 2 red tanks and one corps killed. But the most annoying thing was that he captured Ireland just before my amphibs would have landed and get it. I planned to establish an air base in Ireland to support a Sealion. A little correction - Axis had ground troops -> full complement of corps bought - but they lacked HQs Ref Spain - I only put chits there to force UK waste cash as well - I never intended to get Spain via diplo because it triggers those extra US ships and I was damn sure they had massive ASW already. But I simply forgot about the chits invested in Spain
  14. Interesting - Cairo is in allied hands if I understand correctly - that means Yoda cannot go for London and end the game right now
  15. Going for the british isle is not necessary anymore - I did it, hoping to get an early major victory in H2H but apparently it is not possible like once was (USA and USSR were not in, I killed UK off but game continued). Best is to go directly for Moscow then Stalingrad, entrench near Stalingrad, operate air and paras in France, take london and game over, major victory
  16. OTOH, perhaps we can play 1-2 games -> we are more evenly matched (well, I guess you got an edge due to far more games played than me but that is acceptable) and the games can be very interesting between us.
  17. "Going to be possibly crowned King" - king of what? If Terif had posted 'HR luck sack wins' it would've been another story...but I doubt he will ever post a loss (if he will experience one) this way SC2 has only one true king and that's herr yoda - the rest are 2nd tier players or 3rd or whatever. Unless someone will devote the amount of time and patience Terif devotes to this game (which will never be my case) , he will remain the undisputed champ full stop As Rambo nicely put it some time ago: you don't win the silver, you just lose the gold.
  18. Perhaps you should overinvest in the areas of your major interest 1 chit ain't much...I usually put 3 of them in areas I consider vital and if I still have 'bad luck' I sink extra 2. Now with 5 chits, you should start seeing some results - if you still don't, shut down the PC and do something else that day You know how they say: If you're unlucky, you'll even stumble upon a nail inside a p*ssy
  19. Sad but true This kind of games are part of a 'niche' market for quite some time now. Big shot publishers are not very fond of 'niche' games - eye candy stuff, shooting aliens and whatnot, supported by a nice marketing effort have the potential to earn more cash and faster. Sad but true ... games nowadays have this tendency of penalilzing ppl who can actually think ... a solid wrist is better than a well endowed brain
