  1. i am up to a good challenge PBEM and, if you guys got the time, some TCP would be awesome
  2. uber strategy? axis or allied one? I remember the old sc1 times when ppl were coming up with crazy allied moves to win the game in a few turns ^^
  3. yeah, and i am getting my butt handed to me so far but i'll improve soon ^^
  4. so it would seem they get the territory anyway, before or after the fall of france it just seems wrong to me that a minor joke of a country dares to take a tract of land from the might japanese without the japanese to have a say about it
  5. I encountered this funny thing while playing Axis against the AI - Japan took Fr Indochina before the surrender of France but the territorial transfer from indochina to thailand still took place - basically they stole land from Japan. Not a good ideea back in the ww2 days methinks
  6. for sure i will just gimme a couple of days to make myself familiar with the game, and then I'm game TCP? Cause PBEM is for 55+ years?
  7. back in the sc2 blitzkrieg days, you could move major neutrals' units around even when not yet mobilized - placing ships and/or units near Rome would render the Rome Gambit useless In SC2 you cannot do that so the Rome Gambit (a name from the ancient days of SC-1 btw) is again a viable option - the gain outweighs the risk IMO if you do it as soon as 1939. Either set a game rule which forbids the gambit or edit the entrenchment of the Rome garrison to 6? (can't remember now what's the entrenchment atm).
  8. bought the sc-global last week nice game indeed, even playing the AI is interesting (both sides) - and this is something huge - 99% of the games AI is a cruel joke but this time it is definitely enjoyable on topic - i played 2 games, used a lot of carriers but did not stumble across the escort issue yet
  9. Hi Hubert @JJR - I don't have the SC-Global stuff, I might give it a shot if ppl are still doing H2H I reviewed my battlefront games I used to play - I managed to relicense Pacific Theater and ToW but I couldn't relicense my old favourite SC2 Blitzkrieg Licenses appear to be used already and I lost 2 or 3 harddisks since then as well as my purchase details - a pitty, since i was really itching to do a h2h sc2 with you moreover i discovered my home ip is banned on these forums - ppl ban IPs as a punishment for not posting for years ? sorry for a bit of hijacking of this thread
  10. just browsing the boards (haven't done it in years) - just to discover my old buddy JJR still alive around these boards! everything cool? ppl still playing those crazy H2H games we used to back in the days?
  11. definitely the mustang is a sports car ... but it has the same flaw - you feel like you got skiis on your feet when you wanna do some sharp turns;) I love US muscle cars though - those huge engines ... unfortunately Europe ain't good for big@ss engine, gas prices are thru the roof ... my old M5 bimmer has a 5 litre V8 (not necessarily huge by american standards ) but ppl around me count carefully the days till i go bankrupt cuz of the insane mpg /on topic - JJR - care to initiate me in the pacific thingy someday?
  12. never ever! american sports car are good only for driving straight...if you wanna do some turns, you gotta start looking for german ones still driving my old M5 beemer
  13. hey ! got this game myself - played 2-3 times only against the AI, did not have the patience to go to the end though it'd be nice to play my old foe JJR - i am a n00b at this pacific thingy, JJR is a born noob at anything he plays so the playing field is even :D:D
  14. I'm still alive guys, ya know ^^ How are my old buds doin' these days? Ppl still playing SC2? I'm thinking of playing 2-3 games for the old days' sake... Now where is that self appointed El Legende...
  15. encountered some weird behaviour in the Demo - units seem to completely dissapear form the map at times... cant do anything to get them back but abandon and load it up again i got the same PC which plays SC Blitzkrieg fine but for some reason SC PT has this issue
  16. after christmas, i'll get the full game, study it a bit and start playing some multiplayer, hopefully i will be able to seriously challenge the folks here the weather is a serial killer indeed but it is oh so tempting to transfer AFs to help with Burma campaign but as it appears it aint a sound move but quite a gamble - Blashy is very correct here - air must go to China, the chinese have ridiculously high number of ground troops and the terrain is a b!tch, only mountains and rivers so you definitely need massed airforce against them if u need airsupport in Burma, I'd rather use the carriers returning form pearl harbour - methinks you got a bit of time until US fully gears for war
  17. I am still alive, yes Just d/l ed the demo of SC2 PT - very nice effort! Game seems very interesting! Bravo to Hubert !
  18. if the supply location can trace a path back to the capital (a clear path thru friendly tiles), the resource strength will go up to a max of 10. Otherwise it will stay at a max of 5 (exception is Russia where the conquered resources will have a max of 5 regardless of connection to Berlin , for example). When you invade via amphib, either land a HQ (in absence of a friendly resource nearby it will provide a bit of supply) but better try to capture a city or a port. Ports act as a supply source in sc2 so if you get at least a port, place a HQ nearby and your supply problems are fixed
  19. Thanks for the game Colin and GG. A little summary: 1. Super fast France - this shouldn't have happened in the first place Just place the french troops around Paris and it rarely happens. 2. You should have taken Norway in turn 4 (standard move for the Allies) - remember this and do it next time you play Allies - it is a place from where , later, you can get perhaps Sweden and open a closer theatre to Axis' vital cities. If Axis wants it back - at least you make them amphib units and waste time there. 3. Be a little more aggressive with the western allies - Russia alone is no match for Axis especially with a perfect early and mid game like I had. 4. If you time your western front opening when Axis has a respiro in east (i.e. after a local victory like I had at Stalingrad) be sure your Wallies will be wiped out immediately. With mud and winter approaching in Russia it was clear that no major actions were to be seen until spring 43. You decided to land in Egypt exactly when Axis could afford to dispatch considerable reinforcements in the area without any possibility of being threatened by Russia. Try to force Axis to choose where to fight (and thus lose initiative on one front for sure). 5. Scrap this habit of attacking ports/cities with your navy - it is not worth it. Your strength points losses are very high and the replacement cost is immense, especially for some piss poor country like the UK 6. In Russia you played conservatively and cautious - this was a very good approach because Axis was very strong after pursuing the aggro strategy of collecting a lot of minors previously. But you were a little bit trigger happy (like I am when playing Yoda ) and launched local counters - near Stalingrad - which had for every german unit killed 2-3 red units killed in return. If you decide to leave your forts, do it en masse and cripple Axis in the place of your attack. Ref Uboats - indeed they were coming out of the queue starting with dec 42...all of them "....Hellraser defeats the Russians" - well this is not necessary...I only needed London after the capture of Stalingrad for a major victory. So most likely, the spring of 43 would have seen 9 Axis AFs near Paris and 2 paras ready to jump Your move on Egypt was not ok for my plans - Cairo is a victory objective I am not trying to sound smart here or something, just trying to point out, what in my opinion, are important things to do when playing Allies. Perhaps we can switch sides and play again, we both can learn things from each other. BTW, now I have to play Yoda?
  20. I was kinda expecting such a side show You were way too quiet in West... 2 turns ago, I sacrificed a corps in Caucasus to establish a link to the mid east-Africa and operated the engineer and 2 other units to protect Cairo and Alexandria...just in case Now link has been established again and german heavy pieces take positions in the mid east to repel the allied invaders. German units in Russia refit and upgrade.
  21. Mud sets in during my turn Axis capture Grozny. Axis retreat the navy for repairs and the italian BB comes across a british transport ship off the coasts of Spain, hitting it down to 5. Hmmm... I have some suspicions here
  22. RN carrier and US BB sunk in Atlantic. Axis have 3 subs and 1 BB still afloat. In Russia, Axis attack Kuybishev, kill the garrison but cannot enter the city this turn...a red AF, another corps killed nearby, a red army left at str 1 A part of Axis forces from Stalingrad approach Caucassus where the mid east task force engages the reds, killing one army. Corps destroy the last russian oilfield.
