  1. unfortunately not ,,, , they had some babes ,, Many all female combat units in soviet military , but no decent soviet movie industry to glorify them , If the peoples government had made a few hollywood type movies about some crack soviet female fighter squadrons or tank battalions ,, the whole world would have voted communist
  2. OK I Think we are off topic now ,, can we try to go back???,, or should we blunder on forward into adventure and insanity ???
  3. Bigduke; Try beer, Hey SteveP, LOS tool is your freind , find the section with best covered approach, attack there ,, make sure most of the enemy has little or no LOS to your attacking force
  4. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Fluke,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  5. As circumstance dictates, Broad and general orders get me to the fight ,, And then i decide who needs micro managing ,, I generaly dont use a lot of tanks,

  7. Borg spoting is a feature/bug that we must live with ,, however slightly unrealistic limitations on targeting do help to counter-balance the profoundly unrealistic fact of borg spoting . its a compromise bub , and if ya dont like it ,, please feel free ta uninstall tha game and mail me yer game discs, As i see it ,, i can bitch about the things i dont like ,, or i can enjoy the things i do like , So rather than whine about the lack of gurkas ,, indian army, ,, and other colonial forces, plus no ethnic minoritys in regular armys ,, i just play the frigging game, Same goes for your targeting issues ,, Its a great frigging game ,, Best game out there as far as i can see, Most realistic in almost every sense, So a few small niggles aint worth sweating over, So start a pbem and mail somebody their friggin' turn
  8. ok,, what is the model and year of that norton ? is it a 500 single ? does it have a ricardo kit ? the side car is blocking my view , AAHHHRRRGGGG!!!!!!!!!
  9. I've seen that,, Play a mission once and that gun is unkillable and unpinnable, Play it again and the same gun is pinned in turn 1, and abandoned by turn 3 A gun with a HQ unit with high moral (heart) and combat (lightning) ratings, can be very tough indeed, I once had a 37 PAK defend a crossroads to the last shell, and then they started using small arms, They were down to 2 crew and a section HQ, and were facing T34s and infantry, they stood for 24 turns, Afterwards I looked at the map, There were 9 50mm mortars 4 tanks, and 3 maxim guns still attacking them, plus a company of guards infantry, They killed 6 tanks and caused over 40 infantry casualties, forced 2 mortar crews to abandon, and pinned 2 maxims.
  10. Tagwyn How exactly was Carthage a "blot on the civilized world"? and why did it "very much deserve to be destroyed"?? Carthage was a beautifull city with a reasonably progressive empire of trading posts spread through out the western mediteranian. It had a cosmopolitan culture, and a strong intelectual comunity, Rome was seven urine stains in the italian snow, A city of bigoted hicks, who had to import their schollars from greece because they were to degenerate to produce their own,
  11. Dave Stockhoff "A classic example is Herr Doktor Goebbels' assertion that it was the British who first invented the concentration camp in the Boer War; not true, but so widely repeated by now that it may as well be." The british were the first to name the camps "concentration camps", They did build several in south africa during the boer war, However before this time ,, such camps were called "reservations", and my own people do continue to live in such camps,
  12. we grasp the slightly incorrect physics of tanks in cm, its the psychology that has me baffaled has anyone ever tryed to psychoanalyse a cm tank crew ?
  13. Bailed crews should be evacuated to the rear if at all possible, but cannot be returned to a tank or vehicle in the same battle , Pull them back to safety
  14. Can we finaly close and lock this absurd topic ? It has gotten to the point of being just sad ,, Its not even pathetic anymore , just sad
  15. The lone hero, and the small nucleus of heroes, is indeed a thing of both myth and history, Propagandists have always romanticized the absurd miracles that pop up here and there , But yes , the reality is that its whole organizations and plans that win battles and wars , Not the posterboy with the perfect smile who ends up being paraded for public consumption, Victors write the history books , and they want to look impressive , they also want the enemy to look scary, Propaganda must ballance these factors , so the official historys will say that the evil marder crews were almost unstopable untill OUR brave and moraly superior boys came along in our tiny (but not too tiny) shermans, and saved the world, In the mean time the marder was a pathetic tin box with a good gun but usualy a piss poor crew, It had suply problems , it was tall and easy to spot ,, hard to hide, and only good from ambush, Vulnerable and weak, , it had to kill on the first shot ,, or it was dead, against Shermans , T34s, Cromwells,, Hell against a vickers 6 ton crewed by drunken welsh grandmothers, the marder could be beaten, Like all weak weapons ,, the marder hunted in packs , to offset the weakness of the individual unit, A force of marders crewed by conscript schoolgirls, could with minimal training and a bit of quick thinking , kill a LONE Sherman or a LONE Pershing, and as long as young Elle and Mari keep their marders rocking back and forth to draw american fire , Their freind Lilly can keep killing american uber tanks with side shots all day ,, untill a competent american shows up to tell his fellow countrymen to smarten up and flank the defenders, As JasonC said ,, Its the outliers that we read about ,, the rare freak who gets lucky and beats the odds, And who makes it to the propaganda desk, But Waterloo was won on the soccer fields of Etton and Camridge, and the Bulge was won at Stalingrad and west point together, with a lot of help from detroit,
  16. so any constructive criticism would be appreciated ,
  17. does this look anything like a begining for a dieppe map? its 1200 meters by 2400 meters, and yeah,, i am grosly inacurate on scale and detail
  18. ok so possibly brittish grants attached to a canadian formation ? sombody find Dorosh, he would know
  19. with a nashorn, range is your freind , shoot and scoot will keep you alive , you are in an open topped box made of thin sheet metal, think of it a cardboard or plywood, not steel, at 800 meters you realy need to force the soviets to button, distract them with ATR fire or a mortar or something , for the price of a nashorn you can buy a 75 mm PAK and a half track to tow it ,. and still have change to buy stuff, I'm not even gonna talk about the marder. NO NO you cant make me !!!!
  20. Just thinking ,, I could make a Dieppe scenario with this game , hmmmmmmmmm.................. (insert evil conspiritorial laugh here) and we even have those stupid boats , and someone in another thread said something about using shallow ford tiles, and vehicles as landing boats ,,, hmmmmmmmmm
  21. JonS, I could be wrong , and the old guy who works at the fish&chips place could be senile or something , but he says his battalion had a platoon of grants attatched when they landed in sicily in '43 He describes them as........... "big tall buggers with a 17 pdr in the right hull, and a wee okie doke 37 on top, Big as a barn inside",, sounds like a grant to me, but again,, i could be wrong ,
  22. Carlisle, start small,, and ask JasonC for advice , ask him a lot of questions , lol,,,,,, oh ,, and use the closest zoom you can , look at your units and at the ground they are on ,, and play the smaller missions ,, be aware of your troops ,, treat them like people ,, this aint c&c, your troops get confused, scared, etc ,
  23. Ok, theres no Canadian M3 Grants, I know they were part of the Canadian invasion of Sicily, and Italy, I know that several Canadian veterans complained about them in their memoirs, I know this , but I aint seeing it in the game editor,, I think I'm dissapointed,
