I have completed all missions on vet - dunkirk was the last for me to complete I am now replaying and concentrating on getting elites and following them trhrough (keeping them alive!!) the campaigns. First time through I took the impersonal approach of simply ordering units into certain death to 'take one for the team' whilst ensuring victory. Now I am getting to know my men I wish the save would work more consistently, but it makes you not rely on it, I also rarely use pause (usually only when I want to fire Artillery or making a video) but I only completed a few of the missions first time.

you first need to eliminate all the german armor, then go on the offensive. Be careful though as the germans tend to have crippled tanks stil capable of firing back. Your armor 'should' be able to finish any german tanks, but you must re-man your forward artillery if possible or drag your reserve forward to the crest of the hill. The german infantry in the trenches are then sitting ducks. The problem have with the demo is that I have to save the game in stages to alow 'filming' to take place and the SAVE function is broke - some save files are corrupted and crash the game when u re-instate, whic is a royal pain in the 4rse

I am doing one for Dunkirk / German / Veteran - this mission gave me most difficulty. I also have the phase 2 for Polish to finish - it is done, just editing clips - then I add the sexy voice Time is short due to work - hope to have up maybe this weekend. Thanks for feedback.

An Avalon Hill Blitzkreig style MP game would be nice, with different MP missions like 'Exit as many units from the map from the North' or 'Hold the town for *some_time*' Sometimes not balanced is the balance - battles were never balanced in real life - the balance should be the mission, not particularly the units. any way - MP - yes !!

I was tempted several times! but never did Now I have good tactics for 'most' maps I am replaying the missions with a sven hassel / BoB type game, ie I have a 'chosen' few who get the best bits and easiest tasks (where possible) and if they die I will restart. So far so good though

I liked CoH, but it lasted about 3 weeks and wore off very quickly. For resource based RTS games there are soooo many better ones. The only draw was the ww2 setting. Its nice to see that PC Gamer reviewed it tho.

Thanks met1966 - the voice is for ease of listenig based on not all are english as first language and my own voice is to heay accented to deliver the speech clearly enough imo, so I chose a neutral american voice (from AT&T software). The quote was, afaik, a member who was later banned from these forums - probably in no small way due to that quote.

I actually captured some 'hand to hand' (but like SlapHappy says, not the most exciting thing), its right at the end, about 8 minutes mark, a Polish soldier sees off two Germans (with a little help) in a trench. Agreed about maybe animating them bashing each other being better than what looks like a gentle prod with the rifle

Slightly off topic, but a very graphic portrayal of what happens in 'real' combat. If you have seen this before whichI am sure most have, sorry, but for those who haven't it should be of interest. http://www.3ad.com/history/wwll/feature.pages/bates.index.htm theres other sites carrying the pictures, as well as some pretty gruesome ones - I picked this site as there is no gruesome pictures (not graphic anyway)

The above video is an experiment to compare the difference - Obviously if its for the competition then it still will need to go on Youtube but theres nothing in the rules about mirroring it? for better quality to allow people to properly see the quality you put in.

More pesimistic I felt than negative. Most of the points seemed accurate which means he played the game somewhat, or spent some time reading these forums The last paragraph is what made me feel it was a pesimistic view - any game that does not develop from its release stagnates and dies eventually, it just seemed he was implying that was definitely going to be the case with ToW, which was a little disappointing for me. (and I hope wrong!) Patch update?

I am happy with the current situation Although I did not enter the competition expecting to win and was, like others, making videos for fun prior to the competition, it would be a shame to convert the prize to cash, as it imho changes the whole context of the competition, from one of a work of love to that of a work of labour. Having said that, the rules state you can change the rules What if the patch is not out in time Wolf!!

Great ideas. I generally do not micro myself (theres usually no time in heat of battle) so this would give a lot more to the game. It means also people who like the game as it is currently will still be happy and those who don't like it can change it - a happy balance edit: converted to english!
