Reverse slope for me. With only 4 tanks I would keep them relatively tight (in a line). If they are low powered fire I would tend to concentrate on a single enemy target (the closest) whilst slowly moving forward. If they are medium powered (75mm) then 1st volley concentrated then free fire (I usually take command of 1 tank). If I had 88's then pulling back slowly but free fire.

Steel Torrent (again - gotta love tanks!) I lost this on hardest level - Russians had 1 tank left and 1 disbled but still firing tank. I had the disabled Tiger you see at the end. the start lag is usually due to synchronisation. I couldn't connect, but that is more to do with me being not too clever me thinks. I couldnt connect to STALKER mp either. Elvis - did you play with friends or is there a way of 'finding' other online players?

based on what? You dont even know how many people bought the game - let alone their satisfaction levels. Just because some people voice a negativity (continuously) does this constitute 'most' finding the game poor? Sorry for my less than articulate repsonse previously Moon. I come to the forums to learn tactics, glean information about the game (not specifically armour penetration values in 'the real world', although interesting, if they are not reflected in the game then I don't mind - though a lot of people clearly do - good discussion and informative for the most part until hijacked) or to try in some way to help people get the best from the game, as people help me. Because I am a satisfied customer I am being made out to be a 'fanboy', an idiot that needs to be told why I should not like this game. Why should I and others who do like this game be chased off by a bunch of self serving and tedious people who think they have a given right to post. So they dont like LoS, LoF, cover, the AI - they dont like the game - wtf do they want us to do about it. The points have been made, I am not defending the game, I understand from the posts they are disatisfied, I understand guys as does everyone else, but do you have to post in every thread the same diatribes and the non-constructive negativity (I wouldn't call it criticism as it went beyond that after about the 5th time I saw 'the game is a turd' or some such).

You are trying to convince people not to buy a game because you don't like it. What a bunch of nobbers. You are getting very boring. We have all heard you (many many times) so give it a rest. You talk about 'realism' but wtf do you know about realism - its a ****ing game you arseholes.

I have Vista on one machine (P4 3.2) and its better than XP, but on another nmchine (a newer AMD dual core 4800) Vista blew so was removed after many frustrating hours. It is so dependant on cofiguration of hardware etc. I think so everyone is going to have a different experience, just like with ToW Anyway - things I did to fix some issues I had (nothing new); D/loaded latest video AND sound drivers. This cured some game stutter and intermittent sound stuck in loops. It also allowed me to hear the music properly, as before I did this it was very poor. Cleaned my fans and heatsinks. I know it is total noobiness but since I did this I have not had one CTD (which I was getting prior to the cleaning). I installed 'Asus Probe 2' on the AMD machine and monitor temperature, fan speeds, CPU loading and voltages. Good for seeing any obvious issues, also installed an OC prog but dont need to run this as the game is running good now. I set CPU affinity in Task Manager (usually CPU1), have been doing this for all games since BF2 as a matter of course. When I sometimes forget BF2 will blue screen me with a dump and reboot, whereas something like STALKER just stutters with an FPS drop off every few seconds. Disabled firewall. MP still doesnt work even on a LAN but I dont know if it is me being thick. Anyway - I hope the interface for MP is simplified for simple people (like me). I stop all non critical processes in Task Manager. I also d/loaded and installed a fresh DirectX from M$oft. So Vista sucks yes and no

I like ToW. If I didn't read these forums I wouldn't be 'aware' of LoS/LoF (alleged) problems, way point missing (although many RTS games I have played have this, I never considered it), etc. etc.. I play this game (because hey - it is a game) like any other, using the tools and conditions set up in the game to out-manouvre, out-think and out-play an AI. My experience of most games is that patches always fix one thing and make ten worse. If a patch is released then I will install after I have completed the whole game and replay it under the 'new' set of conditions. My only gripe - Multiplayer

I think this may be to do with the video capture programme used. If you run it whilst running the game it severely impairs the frame rate. Games like CoD and BF2 have inbuilt record function which are great because you save the game without it impacting on the playability, then in 'playback' mode use FRAPS (or something similar) to capture the good bits and use a video editor (the M$ one in windows is ok) to splice, edit and add music etc. So in short, if the game does not have an embedded video capture in it, any external programme used will affect the FPS. BTW, standard 'free' FRAPS limits to 30FPS and its terrible.

without going off on a political debate about PoWs etc., it is always very interesting to read about 'real' peoples lives in the most extreme conditions of war. Great website and some really good links also.

37, european Playing SC2 (its great) and GoW on xbox. Tried Stalker, couldn't connect to MP so not too happy with it, didn't much like SP.

Try demo, like demo, buy game. or Try demo, dont like demo, dont buy game. have you tried the free demo? I bought the game and think it was a very good buy and have played it much more than many games I have paid $60 for, but everyone is different. Obviously most people here like the game and will advise you to pay the price.

I downloaded the demo, played it for 30 minutes and remembered how much i hated OFP for much the same reasons I didn't like ArmA. Interestingly I loved CoD, MOHAA and liked BF2 to a point, although I prefer ww2 themes, so it seems what I look for and KnowOne looks for are totally different I like run and gun not crawl or fall. BF2 graphics are superior, but thats probably to do with the amount of developers and money used in comparison. So basically, the game seems not bad, but not my preferred game type. I watched the demo movie and the game looks good, even though the demo movie is crap. http://uk1slap.0catch.com/pics/CoH_comeback.wmv I made that in an hour and it is better (imo) so I would of hoped that the official demo movie for the game would have been of much beter quality. no matter, the proof of the pudding is in the tasting so I am still looking forward to the release.

I am highly satisfied with the product and the support from HC and battlefront. The amount of time I play the game against original cost is extremely good value for money. The computer hanging problem was annoying with 1.3 but if you compare it to EA Battlefield 2, they released their 1.3 patch (ironically) and took 4 months to fix a critical error they introduced into the game with their patch. They had 250000 angry customers - a lot of whom will not return to BF2 and some, like myself, will never buy another game from the Battlefield franchise again. For me it is an interesting point Yogi raises There is always a play balance issue it seems - the 'bugs' although there are usually insignificant against players ability to expose game inbalance and AI weakneses. This is where the forums and game development support comes into its own. The amount of interaction and information is commendable here, when compared to many other games. /fanboy out
