  1. I just started playing CM with CMAK. Lots of good suggestions on this thread. I too started with small scenarios (not quick battles because the ready made aspect was easiest for me). But I found the AI, while ok as a defender (just OK) was a very poor attacker. I'd suggest finding a PBEM opponent and agree to to AARs. This has been a great learning tool for me, and a lot more fun. The game has incredible depth ... like an onion... lol
  2. The only reason I'm doing this is to have fun, I assume that's the case for everyone. But for me, what is fun is getting all my intelligence about the opfor on the battlefield. If someone gives away some info on the forum, I wouldn't want to know it, but how do you erase it from your memory? Like a bell, once rung, you can't unring it. You are always free to chat via email with your opponent about such things if you so choose. Why do it here? Finally, its part of the deal, the agreement for participating in the tournament. Not only is it a good idea, its the law.

  5. I have been finding my tanks getting creamed when I use the shoot and scoot and the enemey knows where they are. However, I have used it pretty effectively for surprise shots with units, the positions of which were previously unknown to the enemy. I had been thinking it was the command of choice for those lightly armored tank hunters to execute a surprise shot and then go back to hiding, then move position out of LOS... But after reading about the differences here, I might even use hunt in those situations.
  6. Can I mention I have an infantry squad and a tank? Or a mortar? How about an MG, an FO, and a dirty old SOB? Not necessarily in the same scenario, of course? Lighten up, guys. No FOW was harmed. Steve </font>

  9. I don't know, here's what I got in my email: "REMEMBER - full FOW lockdown at all times!" Seems pretty clear. Don't talk about the composition of your forces, period. Nada, nothing, zip ...

  12. Ok, and now I managed to put my reply in the middle of the quotes. Yes, that's right, this is all a ruse to make my opponents think I am a complete idiot. Please, underestimate me. What I meant to say in reply to Brent was: I did the same thing, but took it a step further. I'd just point out for anyone else, if you rename the file like I did (to shorten it), make sure you add .cmg to the end or the game won't see it.
  13. I'm on the list, but didn't get the email. Want to make sure my email is correct in the system. david_power219@msn.com Thanks
  14. Nice report and love the graphics. I need to read more AARs like this and fewer posts about what the proper uniform is for a 41 Italian paratroop, or which experimental weapon was left out, or waffles ...
  15. I would be for the addition of buxom women in liederhosen. Other than that, no civies please.
  16. I would not do that, but I would like to watch the whole movie as a continuous sequence. I would do that.
  17. I'm confident that in your search for trustworthy opponents you will encounter quite a few less than honorable ones. Would you prefer a secure system in place that prevents these idiots from cheating, and thus ruining your enjoyment of the game, or would you prefer to simply trust the next guy you send a file to? </font>
  18. Plot your moves, then view the movie, watch your attack fall apart, reload turn, replot moves, watch movie, watch your attack break through the defense. See a problem? </font>
  19. PBEM is a great way to play the game. However, what I don't get is why is the system so slow. Some of the moves are merely viewing the movie. One should be able to both plot a turn and view a movie on every mailing except the first. Sometimes you would view the movie first, others plot first. This is how Tacops was when I used to PBEM it. Why is this not the case with CM?
  20. How gamey of you. You must have been in the Air Force. We never had tunes out in the field.
  21. LOL. In fact, "3-D tactical combat simulations" are to games as "action figures" are to "dolls." Subsets. BTW, don't look at the tag line up there just under BATTLEFRONT.COM.
  22. Wow, what a great little How To guide. Jason C, you should consider writing a thorough advanced strategy and tactics guide.
  23. This sounds like a blast. Will all these scenarios be for CMAK? This is in the CMAK forum, but I didn't see any reference to any particular game except that ROW III was for CMBB. Just want to make sure I can do it. Thanks.
