  1. It works in all kind of situations that involve accurate HE fire as far as I can tell. They are surprisingly good at staying alive! Twice now, under situations where I would have had em stay put in their house, under artillery, they booked it for a more sturdy building, and made it there just as the old one collapsed! another couple times my guys came under auto cannon fire and saved themselves. And with the new spacing they are more resilient on the move. So id say they have a good amount better chance to survive the turn than before v4
  2. If the Man is really that pragmatic then maybe hes not so bad after all
  3. I'm on the edge of my seat! One might think that an especially artillery and sneakiness oriented force from both sides might be on the "boring" side, but this is the most excited I've been about a DAR in a while.... BUT I NEED MOAR FASTER!
  4. Its never to early to panic, EVERYBODY PAAAANNNNIIIIICCCCCC! Btw thanks for the message yesterday Erwin, it helped to hear this has all sort of happened before.
  5. Sorry Steve, I didn't really think about it but in hindsight I did kind of know that was against the rules, but I did keep it war focused at least, sorta, and this is one of my main social haunts, and it's been a little stressful with everyone in my city thinking (and probably my dad on the east coast). we are all bigots. One of my best friends called me a bigot last night, and he wouldn't take it back so I pulled his chair back to put him on his back and stood over him asking again if he wanted to fight or to take it back, and he still wouldn't do I told him to leave, until he finally took it back and things went back to normal. So it's clearly getting to me and freaking me out so I guess I just had to get it off my chest
  6. Oh and MOAR area fire, as long as you dont use too much, like maybe with paratroopers. You have more men and they all carry a ton of too heavy of ammo so shoot it at the bushes in front of their guys.
  7. Are you trying to play through the campaigns or doing missions against the AI or Quickbattles against the AI or playing online? I use more mass in ww2. In the modern era each guy and vehicle has so much more firepower, and better spotting, that smaller groups can do the same jobs as it takes larger groups to do in ww2. And the firepower punishes bunching up much harder and faster. Since everyone has so much firepower, small numbers of defenders are enough to be very lethal and can stop attacks and cause unacceptable casualties. So the defenders can be much more stealthy and still be strong, but that gets balanced somewhat by the better spotting of the attackers. In order to defend hard in WW2 you need a bigger mass, so its easier to spot, which makes it easier and safer to use a bigger mass yourself. Another thing is that there are a few ways that WW2 firepower is sort of bigger than modern. not overall but in some specifics, which are important. Bigger bullets. While the infantry are all lacking the modern automatic weapons of modern infantry, the have big strong rifles. So at long range,400-500m, against targets in a building the WW2 infantry might have more firepower, especially with more men. MGs are a bigger deal by far too. Modern days they don't do much to dominate open fields at long range, because if they can be seen they just get nailed with HE. in WW2 the HE might not be available or efficient or work. Last but not least, don't worry about the guys dying. its so much easier on the eastern front, just remember that almost all of them died anyway. That is each of their ultimate mission anyway, to die for your purposes, and honor. The highest honor in victory for your pTruppen is to be bleeding out while it happens.
  8. That quote really does go a long way to explain how people had such completely different ideas about the two candidates. San Jose is unbelievably sad right now, at least it was yesterday, its seriously like a pet or friend or family member of almost every person here died. People here are totally scared, and think that the election means that half the country is racist and sexist and hates Muslims. And they think Trump is gonna be starting wars, and none of them know or care that Hillary was the one who was actually saying she was ready to go to war with RUSSIA of all people for the woman and children of Syria. Somehow even the same people who actually believe in the two headed monster, end up thinking that it doesn't apply THIS time. Or they somehow think Trump is actually establishment, lol. I mean the maximum paranoia side of me think the Man is probably capable of such an elaborate round about ruse, But i don't take that side of my brain too seriously.... Seems to me we got an outsider who wasn't picked by the establishment to do their dirty work overseas, for the first time in my lifetime, and maybe my fathers lifetime. I gotta say , here since I cant say it much in San Jose, that I'm totally pumped that he won, and that was the best darn victory speech I've ever seen, and feel very relieved that we arn't planning on having a war with Russia any more. I hope we even reach out to North Korea, the way he repeated everyone made it seem possible. Would be amazing if we got them back in communication with the world. I don't think hes really a bigot, or will do any bigoted things as president. I guess there was probably some campaign calculus that showed he had to charge up his base by seeming racist to get the win. Not that I think the people who voted for him did it because they thought he was racist, I think they voted for him because they didn't believe he really was racist. But definitely some racist republicans supported him harder because of it, and he got more free media attention because of it, and he might have needed those things for the win.
  9. I started using the leader half of the squad in the vehicle after reading that post. I don't have a lot of time under my belt with it yet, and I would prefer to just have the commander stay and have all 5 or 6 (BMP or BTR/MTLB) other guys out, but I do kind of like the idea of keeping half the squad "safe" in the vehicle while the other half does the infantry thing with just 3 or 4 men, but then I still have the other half if I need it later (and the coffin hasn't blown up yet). I really want a access to the squad splitting tab while they are in the vehicles tho, its a pain right now.
  10. It's real nice having them quit transmogrifying all the time. Great patch!
  11. I think it might reduce the amount of micromanagement by more than half, in a lot of the most micro intensive situations. It takes longer to place the final destination fighting position for just one vehiclethan to order a multi-waypoint move for a whole company across half the map, sometimes.
  12. Woops just saw that I got what I meant to say all backwards there. The young people who didn't grow up during the cold war are NOT the ones who see Russia as the enemy.
  13. I agree. Seems to me things are moving in the right direction, as people age and the world moves forward. Young people who didn't grow up during the Cold War are mostly the ones who see Russia as the enemy, and trust the government. The youth grew up with access to the internet and open minds for the most part. Lol it's funny you say that panzer because I've been telling people for a while now that I see a vote for hillary as a vote for the US and a vote for trump as a vote for the world.
  14. I just meant that I don't really understand where this idea that the US and the west have turned a new leaf and stopped supporting authoritarians when convenient, and are now just really trying to help people, and it's some how a hardcore conspiracy theory that the CIA would still be setting up Coups and rebellions for the sake of multinationals and their interests.
  15. The OP of this thread is mainly about Syria so you not whataboutisming in the slightest here Vlad
  16. "Honestly, I hadnt heard much about Assad's rule before the war. Saddam for instance was a well known savage that among others had gassed Kurds and started more than one regional conflicts. Assad was an opthalmiatrist in London that took over his country because his brother and future president died. He was mostly known for respecting the numerous different religious groups and keeping radical nuts at bay. Probably his violent reaction to the uprising had more to do with his panic and fear of ending up like Ghaddafi. Not a democrat (does this word has any meaning below the mediterranean sea?) but I cant understand either why some view as a democratic alternative, islamists like Al Nusra and foreing fighters that wage what definetely seems like a religious war and not a war for freedom. Not to mention ISIS which must be the most horrible creation to ever walk this earth since the nazis. No, I'm not right wing and I wouldnt trade my freedoms for a dictatorship rule but if I was unfortunate enough to live in Syria and I had to chose between ISIS, hardcore islamists, moderate islamists and a secular rule I would pick the latter. No, I dont think people in 2016 need more of this backwards medieval crap and I have no idea why media in the west painted all this in such romantic colors. Religious zealots of any kind just keep people in the dark ages and are very much responsible for turning once brilliant civilizations into depressive ruins. I'm very, very sorry for Syria. Apart from the horrific death toll, most of the country was an Unesco protected site. And to see all those rare monuments of human history being sadistically blown to pieces by Jihadists is one of the biggest cultural disasters of our era. Even the nazis had some respect for historical heritage. Those guys, are undeniably the lowest point humanity can reach." Well said! To all the pro Syrian insurrection people, what kind of bad stuff did Assad do before the rebellion started that makes y'all think he needed to be deposed?
  17. Except you can win a war while losing all the battles sometimes. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder . Can't wait to see this play out!
  18. Maybe they just arn't strong enough to carry/use it, but if you find the super rare cyborg soldiers they can handle it just fine.
  19. They both have deep set up zones, I'm guessing the attacker can only place fortifications within the setup zone? I guess they are doing a Russian attack that is launched after the Russians have been occupying their side of the city for a while and had time to dig and mine the night before or whatever.
  20. Just read your post JK, sorry but sometimes I skip em and come back when I have more time since I'm trying to follow the thread and your posts have more information than I'm ready for that was an extra good and insightful one, I really enjoy the stories from back in the day in the industry.
  21. But why? seems pretty on point considering how differently they would handle our relationship with Russia. Seems kind of like time is nigh and the fate of the world hangs in the balance. My friend came over yesterday and I showed him the article. He told me that Hillary talked about possibly bombing Syrian government in the second debate? I haven't seen the whole thing yet so I don't know, did she really say that? Seems pretty crazy that we would be talking about that kind of thing without also talking about how Russia has said that's the kind of thing they would use a limited nuclear strike to retaliate/defend. Domestic issues are really important to me but not as important as us stopping overthrowing countries and avoiding a major war.
