  1. I get ya I'm honestly not sure about the technical definitions that's just how I see it. Conscription just being a civil service thing everyone does, vs the draft is like an emergency death lottery into the meat grinder. I don't know of any plans to make it happen, and I haven't heard about it at all in public debate, and I'm 31 and follow the news and am in liberal well informed circles, so I'd have thought I'd have heard of it sooner if it were a thing. But apparently it is a thing as I have been discovering lately, and the people who believe it think any one who thinks otherwise is crazy and way behind the times.
  2. Bad humor I know. From a feminist perspective ( I imagine ) (white) male politicians change daft law to include teenage and 20's girls in the draft. (White) male police sent to make the girls go to the war the white men started against the oppressed minorities including woman. Ok that was sarcastic, but I do find it interesting how the same feminists who go on about the oppressive white man patriarchy all the time also think woman should get swept up in his wars.
  3. Its not about them being allowed into the military i'ts about them being forced into the military in order to fight our most desperate engagements for us.
  4. Thanks for the feed back! I mighta been a little sarcastic but it certainly isn't entirely sarcasm While I think it is wonderful woman are fulfilling all sorts of jobs that used to be the province of men, I think the draft is quite different from the free ecomomy. Those woman work those jobs because they chose to, not because they are force to do it or be a criminal. All the comments about conscription are interesting and on topic but they arn't what Im talking about. We have draft not conscription. I'd be fine with conscription and think that should be for both sexes, but our draft is about things like ww2 and the civil war and what have you. The most basic real argument I have against woman being drafted is I don't think some 40-50 year old man should be protected by the state by the state sending the police to punish the young girls who won't go die for the old man just because the government picked em for it.
  5. Obviously they'd have to be included? Why is that? Wouldn't they have to change the draft law rule for that or somefink? I see the draft as a super desperate situation last resort kind of thing, not like a Vietnam War enabling kind of thing. And if the USA is in the sort of super desperate situation some how, teenage and a little older draftee boys are hard enough to turn into infantry. We don't need to be sending a few weeks teaching 'em how to throw half as far as the average dude. I imagine that if things ever got so bad we needed to draft again it would be at the point of needing to think about maybe repopulating, good to have the wombs home safe. But if you were gonna do it here's my thought on it. Girl battalions and guy battalions. The regular girls are front line trench fighters, behind them is a reserve of men soldiers that will come to their rescue that much more bravely. That's for the normal girls who can't fight good. The natural born killer girls go in the special lady bad ass assault battalions. They target male defender groups, and wear their hair long and down, blowing in the breeze. Helmets of course and armour but no face covering. They attack along with loud speakers that tell the enemy in a loud but intimate and sexy voice that they arn't trying to kill them but make peace after a long war and sex em up. The male defenders hesitate when they see the flowing hair and get shot between the eyes.
  6. Hey so I um wanted to ask about this kind of totally off topic question, and i was thinking about putting it in the general forum where few would see it when I realized I could just MAKE it on topic. The topic being, maybe we should have woman soldiers in CMBS. Ok, but the real issue is more a IRL one. When I went to visit family this winter my uncle said something about thinking woman should be draft eligible. I had no idea that this was a thing people talked about, and was frankly shocked and said something, and he's like, basically, "how dare you not think woman should be drafted too, you must be a bigot who voted for Trump." I lied and said "i didnt vote for Trump" in a voice that I thought gave away that it was a lie so it didn't really count as one . Anywho we talked about it a little more and he got mad and we dropped it, I brought it up days later and he got mad immediately and that was it. But since then its come up a few more times with other people, apparently its a pretty common view. I was chatting with this feminist on tinder and it came up just a couple days ago and then she "unliked" me, lol. When did this happen? Anyone here have any insight into the phenomenon? The one pro-woman-being-drafted comment I got that I liked was " yeah men and woman should both be draft eligible, draft age 18 to 71." Cracked me up.
  7. The only sensible reason I can see to put I guy looking like that in your documentary, is to suggest that HE might be an alien.
  8. lol, huh, thanks. Woulda guessed it was shark talk lol.
  9. The standard grenade launcher training on a range seems like it would still include a fair amount of operator error. But I guess I have been skipping the fact that the grenade launcher might not shoot straight to begin with, but that seems to me like its own problem and not a result of the low muzzle velocity. Mortars are relatively low velocity weapons too but are also relatively high precision.
  10. That was the funny video that guy is from? Anybody think that someday we will use higher caliber barrels and sabot dart rounds for small arms?
  11. That creedmore seems like just the thing. Seems a great compromise between a full rifle round and a carbine. Twice as powerful at the muzzle seems not bad, maybe better for short range urban combat due to increased penetration of cover. But at 500 meters the creedmore seems fantastically better. 4 times the power, or about the same at 500m as the 5.56 is at point plank, depending on how you re counting.
  12. My laymans 2cents is that its a great idea and I like how they are talking about upgrading just the infantry to supposedly keep the cost down to less than an f-35 fighter jet. We picked the 5.56 for the Vietnam War, because it was good for jungle fighting against the Vietcong. We didn't choose it because it's particularly well suited to the urban or even semi urban landscape, or because it was good against soldiers with armour. I think our army should be more geared towards being the best in a near peer, can afford body armour kind of contest than being the best at beating jungle insurgency sorts of struggles.
  13. I thought we were talking about the grenade launching systems that integrate a computerized firecontrol thing of some kind with a integrated sight and range finder, and potentially airbursting grenades, so that the operator doesn't have to do any guess work on how much to aim above the target. Edit to add: also I guess its hard to go exactly vertical vs a little diagonal while you are aiming up above the target, but the computer and sight combo can fix that.
  14. I'm really not trying to argue and not even sure I want to respond to this, but I wasn't talking about guided projectiles either, as I think you know. you brought up paintballs to compare with the 40mm grenade accuracy, I think thats obviously not a good analogy as the paint balls are curveball destabalized rather than spin stabilized, and they arnt heavy enough to not be blown around like crazy, unlike the 40mm. Slower bullets mean you have to aim up more, not that the bullet wont go on target because its not fast enough. I've seen a pistol hit at a mile (on youtube)
  15. Had to google that to see what you were talking about. Dang, those commies sure did something right there, those bus stops were sweet!
  16. I imagine that kind of thing when combined with Russian fire finding radar would put quite the hurt on our own shorter ranger artillery, any time we tried shooting it within 50 km of their big guns.
  17. IMHO I think we might have been talking past each other a bit. When the grenades don't have any auto ranging feature, for sure its easier to aim with a faster projectile. I was writing strictly about the grenade launchers that include an auto ranging mechanism.
  18. Yeah but those are like musket balls which were also inaccurate. Plus they are light relative to size so they blow around extra. The 40 mm round spins in a stabilized way like a modern rifled bullet, vs the muskets of old. And its heavy so I suspect it has relatively constant ballistics.
  19. and I might be totally missing something about how it works, but i would think the computer would adjust the sight after you range finder it so that you just aim right at it and pull the trigger
  20. but with all that "auto aiming" I'd think it doesnt matter much how fast it goes. the barrel points up more but either way for the operator his is just putting the cross hair on target after lasing something right next to it or I guess just lazing the dudes face. In fact the steeper incoming angle of a slower shell should decrease not increase the vertical dispersion, no?
  21. Sounds mean but fair. But it'll make my men fight twice as hard against such a brutal savage.
  22. Honestly, you're fitting right in here and I am quite glad you joined us. I want all the new kit for added too. I agree that those turreted up Kraz seem to add a lot of combat power compared to the UAZ. It seems to me that the people who are giving you a hard time or razzing you or whatever are maybe a little missing your point. it doesnt seem to me you are saying you think the UKR is a more powerful overall army, numbers and size factored in, compared to Russia, but that they have done enough lately upgrading the army they have, that per man its as or better equipped than Russia. Now I don't know even really have any idea if that's correct or not once you include more strategic assets, but at the CM level it seems like it might be a pretty valid point. At least until Armata's show up in CM, which I'm doubtful will happen but would like to see as well. But Id rather see the stuff your talking about than Armata because it's actually there now. But I want em both, for me the story perfectly justifies Russia rushing what few it has over there. I wanna see all the kit I can of course, in the game.
  23. Lol I have been on a long enough dry streak that sometimes it seems like it would be a bonus to be gay. Edit to Add: Woman; cant live with em, cant live without em.
  24. Playing the first mission of the battle pack now, its one of those more fluid situations I was talking about, and here it seems to be working pretty great. People are running away, but not immediately, and only after I am shooting the sort of explosive onslaught that would make me certainly run for it. But on the other hand I'm not facing hardened defenses, nor am I using any heavy HE (yet). My men are doing great, 3 are now yellow, one red, but everyone's been courageous. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to get the running from prepared defenses too much fixed, but I don't think there is universal opinion that the current behavior is "crap", for one thing forum comments are not a good way to do a poll. I'm not even really against the new way they handle HE even when they are in cover. One of my first experiences with the new behavior is when they bolted under a substantial artillery barrage while they were in a house defending, only to run maybe 50 yards through the open into another bigger building. I was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOUR IN A BUILDING IN A BARRAGE AND YOU LEAVE!!!?!!" but they sprinted it hard and made it between salvos, and then the building they left collapsed behind them, and they were all OK. So, it needs some tweaking but I like the premise. I think its realistic that they might notice that they seems to be at the center of a barrage that they wont survive, so they take what chance they have and move. I agree tweaking is in order but lets not throw out the baby with the bath water.
