  1. Thanx for the info, i just needed to disable the firewall and all works fine now.
  2. I tried downloading Java so i can use the CM Chat but my computer said i need to install ActiveX. Where is a good website to download the latest Active X. Joe
  3. I agree with most replies above, ground attack is alittle overrated. I simply do one of 2 things. - Before a game starts my scenario briefing would say that ground attack airpower has reduced causulties by a certain percentage depending on wither its a Defense, Attack, Meeting Engagement, etc. Same thing i would do if there were an Artillery pre-bombardment. - If i do use ground attack airpower i justify the higher percentage kills by saying that when purchasing aircraft it actually means a flight of 2 or more not just one.
  4. I consider my self a half way decent Commander. I agree with Wunwinglow, i unfortunatly find myself micro-managing several orders for each unit and end up having to use some of the Tips and Tricks in hopes to have a better edge against human opponents. Those Tips and Tricks are great for some real CM tactical advice but alot others are there because of the gamey quarks that people can take advantage of. Some other problems include Borg-Spotting, units reacting to quicly, allowing for example your unit to shoot at an enemy unit say 2000 meters away just because your other friendly unit can see that said enemy at 50 meters. I could go on and on with many problems i have with the CM game system. Basically the bottom line is that many of the CM players have failry good tactical skills but because of the short coming of the game system are unable to use it fully. I play WW2 Table Top miniature games and because of the game mechanics and the less use of micro-managing im able to concentrate more on my tactical skill to determine how well im doing. 6. If thats to much trouble for you then just ask your opponent to ZIP the file to you instead. Joe

The only thing i can do is push the power button for several seconds to shut it off. Can someone please help - did i do the steps right or is there something wrong with my laptop. Joe
  8. Corvidae, thanx for the reply, can you schedule reinforcements. Does everything you get automatically come on first turn.
  9. Im setting up a quick battle using my own map instead of the random map, is there anyway to change the special ability factors for the HQ units - Moral, Combat, Command, Stealth, or is it just random. Joe [ May 23, 2006, 06:10 PM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  10. Here are some House Rules that im playtesting with other players to make CMBO, CMBB, CMAK games a little more interesting in my opinion. If you have any questions, suggestions, comments, please post reply below or email me at irishwop67@aol.com There will be more additions, addenda, and deleting, depending on your responses as these rules are only partially completed. The intention is to play Company to Battalion size games with some support, anything bigger and i feel the rules might get to cumbersome, tell me what you all think. - We will choose targets for the HQ and Support units ( All HQ, MG, Mortar, Sniper, Tank Hunter, Flame, Tanks, AT guns, etc. ) but will let the computer direct fire for all other Infantry. That means your Infantry Squads cannot select Target, Next Target, but you can still use the Cancel Target order. - All units will have mandatory fire arcs every turn out to 180 degree to the max range listed below. That means you can set your fire arc anywhere from 1 degree out to 180 degrees. Also all units will have a minimum range set at 20 meters for their fire arcs. Infantry and LMG will have a 180 degree out to 250 max. ALL Infantry HQ will have a 180 degree out to 100 max. HMG will have a 180 degree out to 500 max. Mortars will have 180 degree out to its max. Snipers will have a 180 degree out to 500 max. Tank Hunter will have small arms of 180 degree out to 100 max. Armor arc out to 40 max Flamthrower units will have a 180 degree out to max range. AT rifle will have a 180 degree out to 500. Bazookas, Panzerschreks, Piats, have a 180 degree out to max range. Armour, Field Guns, have a 180 degree out to max range. - There will be no area fire by any units except units with HE or Flame capability. - Do not double click on enemy to see what additional info he has such as what the Infantry might have for small arms or how much armor or penetration a vehicle has. - Remember Vehicles and AT guns have same restrictions as Infantry and other Support units ( You must have minimum 20 meter fire arc up to 180 degree every turn ). - A vehicle that is buttoned will have his MG fire arc range no more then 250 meters. If not buttoned 500 meters. - If your buttoned and target an infantry unit 500 meters away you can only use your main gun, the computer might go ahead and shot the MG as well but nothing we can do about that. - Do not target a unit or area unless you have a green line of sight. Exception: Artillery FO may map fire anywhere on the map in preparation of an attack. [ May 18, 2006, 09:45 AM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]

  14. I have misplaced my CMBB rule book so i need to know the following. I normally just use the Run,Move,Sneak orders but would like to know the differences between the Advance, Assualt, Contact, withdraw, Human Wave orders. This way i get a better perspective on each order so i can use them better in the game. Joe
  15. Sorry, forgot to mention that its for CMAK.
  16. Hello, I have a Dell 6400 that had Win2000 then switched to full version of Win-XP. I know notice when my vehicle fires or gets hit the shadow under the vehicle keeps flashing off and on a white color for several seconds. I had the XP install down at cicuit city and they had to also install a new video driver because XP didnt give me one.

  18. Redwolf, I wonder why in CMAK the U.S 76 AP penatrates the Panthers front turret out to 700 meters. I think getting a possible penetration out to 250 meters then a possible partial penetration out to 500 meters would be more like it but any further then that seems a bit much. In CMBO it was almost impossible to penatrate the panther with a U.S 76 AP round at 250 meters, then i buy CMAK what a surprise i had in store for me. So why the inflated penatration of Allied and German guns from CMBO to CMAK. Ofcourse there are many other comments i would like to share but for now the above will do. 19. In CMBO the Panther can take a 76mm Sherman/M10 AP shell at 250 meters with no problem. In CMAK there is a bigger difference, the Panther can be knocked out to atleast 700 meters maybe further with that partial turret penetration shot.
  20. In CMBO the Sherman/M10 76mm w/o APCR ammo needs to be fairly close to penetrate the Panthers turret. That has changed in CMAK the 76mm can penetrate the Panthers turret at shorter ranges and partial penetrate at longer ranges with a knock out result.
  21. Ketil, I remember " The little soldier shop in Alexandria, we had been there a few times before they closed in think in late '80s. Intresting place indeed If i remember it was located in some sort of town house with a walk in basement. Place had alittle of everything but not eneogh of anything, lol. There were things literally scattered everywhere and it had a small room in back with a game table. I think i bought my first Airfix figs there. Thanx that would be great, keep me posted when u find your Tractics. Email me at irishwop67@aol.com
  22. A.E.B & ketil, Yes good Ole Tractics, TSR put it out and was the only game i liked from them. As a matter of fact we just looked at them the other day for good time sake. Dad used them when he first played HO yrs ago then managed to convert them to Micro Armour, which turned out not to be a good idea. We had 2 copies, first i believe just fell apart many yrs ago, second copy i picked up at a convention about 10 yrs ago in mint condition. Then i gave it to dad to look at and over the yrs he managed to slowely destroy that copy too, i should have kept it at my house. Then last year i almost bought a 3rd copy off ebay but the seller wanted $50 dollars so i decided against it. Well Ketil, ready to part with one of your copies, lol. I just would like atleast one copy in good condition to keep in a safe place. I still have many other Micro Armour rules that i have purchased over the years that work better(Jagdpanzer, Combined Arms, Panzer Tactics, Spearhead, GHQ Micro Armour, etc.) [ July 28, 2004, 01:52 AM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  23. Ketil, The shop was called " Wargamers Hobby Shop " dad was Albert McNally some called him MAC out in Sterling near Dulles Airport. We and a couple other gamers also started a club back in '86 called "NOVAG" (Northern Virginia Adventure Gamers) which is still active today. He sold shop when couple others opened up in the area, one in Chantilly called " The Game Parlor and other called " little Wars in fairfax. I still go to the Game Parlor couple times a month to see whats new. [ July 28, 2004, 01:40 AM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  24. My Dad owned a Hobby Shop in the Norhern Virginia area back in the early 80s before he sold it i believe in 91, so i know many of the board games that all have mentioned above. He sold both board and miniature games and had 2 pool size game tables to play them on. I have played a few board games but my interest lies in HO and GHQ Micro Armour miniatures along with the CM series. Dad today at 61 still has an interest in Micro Armour miniatures and has a game table in his house that i come down couple times a month to play. As a matter of fact we just came back from a historical game convention in Lancaster, PA and ordered some miniatures. Last year i showed him the CM series and he was quit impressed and wanted to play as often as possible but since he is puter iliterate i have to play out the turns for him.
