  1. Hello Juut, and Horn, Welcome to the Combat Mission Community. All the above info is very supportive in helping you achieve your CM experience. If either of you need any help or questions regarding the game mechanics, or want me to guide you thru some small test games just email me. Thanx Joe
  2. Your only real chances are having the 88 flaks at close range to its front or moderate range on its flanks. -OR- some good Close Assaults by your Infantry. Joe
  3. Alsatian, Nice pic. I use to live in Arlington, Va ( Fairlington district ) years ago, but now live in Winchester, Va. Nice to know there are some locals out there. Joe
  4. Now I can see why they drop out mid-game, you just take to long on aswering back.
  5. How about BB, I prefer Company level engagments. Would you be interested in test playing and adding input to some House Rules. This will in hopes make CM alittle more realistic in some regards. Joe
  6. In most cases you should have captured the gun crew with no problem, with either a run or assault order, However, an advance order might stop short of its objective if there is return fire. I have done this a few times in the past and have always been successfull in capturing the gun. Try to simulate this a few times against the AI. Have a U.S. Infantry Platoon against say an entrenched ( Weapons Section ) HMG, Mortar, AT gun, Weapons PHQ or Section HQ with random bonuses every game to see what other results you encounter.
  7. Hello, How about CMAK in Company size engagements. I can also do about 7 to 10 turns per week. my email is irishwop67@aol.com Joe
  8. The IS3 came out at the very end of WW2, and did not see any action. Combat Mission IMHO does not effectively model large caliber APHE ammo against vehicles. If a 122 or 152 HE or APHE shell hits any vehicle, then it should be KOed (armor being destroyed with crew casualties), or if a new miss resulting in possible immobilization. 9. Even with odds of 3 to 1, attacks were repeadidly repulsed with good defensive positions. However, in Combat Mission that would most likely not be the case.
  10. Brycie35, If interested, I would like to continue talking about this discussion further by email. Maybe setup some Attack/Defense Company size engagements, and using House Rules that a couple of players have worked on. My email is in profile, just have the title Re: " Combat Mission." 11. Juergen, In all fairness to CMC, atleast you can fight large battles at the Grand Tactical level ( each unit a Company or even Battalion ) that would otherwise not be practical with CMBB. John Tiller's Campaign Series is pretty much identical to the old TalonSoft EastFront and WestFront II ( Just re-packaged ). The main problem I have with JTCS ( just like in EastFront, WestFront ) is that you are able to move one unit, then fire, find the results, then move another unit, and do the same for each subsequent unit, all in the same turn. To me this gives unequal or unrealistic combat results. However, there is a rule I believe which allows a player to move all units in a Company or Battalion at once ( I am still play testing it out ). Now in saying that, I prefer CM and its WEGO system better. I still like JTCS, because its a Platoon level game, and with some player house rules will make this game much better.
  12. Juergen, I own some of those WWII Operational games that came out in the later 90s. One is called Panzer General 2 from SSI, with each unit a Company or Battalion. You pick the nationality you want, and go thru several campaigns on either the eastern or western front. The other ones are called East Front, West front, and Pacific Front from TalonSoft. Each unit is a platoon and each turn is 6 minutes. You can choose several scenarios or campaigns just like in CM. I also own the New John Tiller's Campaign Series, which is just a remake of the older out of print East, West, and Pacific front. ( this time all 3 games are on one CD ). You can check it out over at Matrixgames.com If you have any other questions about these games, just feel free to ask. Joe [ May 14, 2008, 06:12 AM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  13. FragerZ, Seriously, If you dont know anything about these units you dont belong in the game.
  14. Just like Ted, I had same thing happen to me once. My opponent sent wrong file by mistake without a password, and I was able to see all his units. I told him what happened and we just started game over. Joe [ February 25, 2008, 04:15 PM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  15. Malfuriouspete, You are right, there is no excuse why this should happen in CMBO ( CMBO is outdated ). Just purchase CMAK, and be done with it. This will also give you the Med theater ( Italy & N.Africa ), and with alittle research at this Battlefront Forum you can also download the CMETO mod to give you the feeling of being in N.W Europe. Hope this helps, and if you have anymore questions I will be happy to help. Joe [ February 23, 2008, 05:55 AM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  16. Kingfish, Thanx for the info, will look into shortly. Joe
  17. I am interested in setting up either a German vs British or German vs. US Infantry or Motorised Battalion size Operation, Italy, Late 43, Meeting Engagement. I would like to try and make this a 2 or 3 day Operation with a town and crossroads overall objective. Does 3 games per day and 30 turns per battle so good ? other suggestions, How about map size ? What would you suggest for a good force composition that is fairly equal for both sides ( no points ). I want to include AT or other field pieces, Flak, some Armor, maybe additional Arty FOs and possible Air. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanx Joe
  18. I am interested in setting up a German vs. Russian Infantry Battalion size Operation, June 42, Meeting Engagement. I would like to try and make this a 2 or 3 day Operation. Does 3 games per day and 30 turns per battle so good ? other suggestions, How about map size ? What would you suggest for a good force composition that is fairly equal for both sides ( no points ). For example; Both sides have an Inf Battalion, should I add an additional Inf Company to the Russians. I want to include AT or other field pieces, Flak, some Armor, maybe additional Arty FOs and possible Air. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 19. Hello fellow CM gamers, I am setting up an Infantry Company size 41' Scenario, Meeting Engagement with a flag in the middle of map (map size is about 480 by 720 ). Should both the German and Russian forces be equally apart from the flag. (I have both sides at about 150 meters from flag ) The Germans seem to have a better reaction time when issuing orders then the Russians, and usually get to the flag first by a turn or so. When playing the Germans should I pause each unit about 30 seconds to a minute for the first turn of game. - OR - Should I setup the Germans about 50 meters farther back or Russians 50 meters closer( which is the size of one block in the Scenario Editor map ). What are other things to suggest, any help would be appreciated. Thanx Joe [ January 16, 2008, 09:20 PM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  20. Hello GDog, emailed you a CMAK Mod that I hope you will enjoy. If interested in discussing anything about BB or AK, or just want to play, email me at irishwop67@aol.com Joe
  21. Hello Sanok, Long-time no hear, hope you still rememeber me. If interested in doing some CMBB - PBEM games just post reply below, or email me at: irishwop67@aol. Joe
  22. Hello junk2drive, Noticed you over at the Matrix site, under John Tiller's Campaign Series. I have also purchased the game myself, and frequent the site from time to time. Joe
  23. Moshker, Unfortunately, there are no Fire-Arcs in CMBO, and you will need to use the Hide Order and just hope for the best. If you are hiding, your units will usually automatically unhide and start shooting once enemy units get within 100 meters. You can also use the Ambush Markers, they are not used just for Field Pieces and Armor. I have all 3 games, but CMBB and CMAK have a fair amount of changes over CMBO to warrant the purchase of them ( plus you get the Eastern Front ). You might want to do a search on the differences as the subject has come up recently again. If interested in playing a PBEM or TCP, I can help you thru the steps. If you need some help with the rules, tactics, etc, just email me back or post reply below. Joe [ October 10, 2007, 07:36 PM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  24. AdamL, I have already put myself down for BN Commander for either side. I was thinking thou, what if you scaled it back to say a Regiment in size instead of Div. This way you could look for BN as COs and then Company commanders for the other players. Just a suggestion that would make the game alittle bit more managable, but you probably already considered that. Joe [ September 29, 2007, 09:32 PM: Message edited by: JoMc67 ]
  25. You both can issue a cease fire and simply go on to the next battle. Keep in mind thou, the recon element is one of the most important aspects of the game.
