Is it Gamey to use squads of Jeeps for Recon?
stikkypixie replied to Mantra's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
wrong. just read "Das Auge der Division" (the eye of the division), where a Untersturmfuehrer of the recon battaillon describes, how the 17. SSPzGrnDiv "GvB" did recon: They drove with highest speed to enemy, then jumped off the schwimmwagen (swim capable version of kuebel). in cm you can avoid this with some MGs. but you will lose every match, when only your opponent recons. at least in turn 3 i have to penetrate the sporn-zone of my enemy in a normal qb meeting. </font> -

What was the official designation for this wonderweapon? -
It works like this: 1) you give orders, you send those orders to your friend 2) he gives his orders, his computer makes the movie and sends it to you. he doesn't get to see it first because that way he might replot his orders watch the movie, etc 3) you watch the movie and send it back to him 4) he give new orders, after watching the movie and sends them to you 5)etc...

I remember this one incident back in CMBO when a single Kingtiger went on rampage and devoured my Shermans and M10s. Eventually it was a Stuart that killed the big cat by penetrating a weak point in the side of its turret. But anyway, I guess in the end tactics are more important than just who has the "better tank" - which is after all a matter of opinion. It's not necessarily more difficult to take out a Tiger with a Sherman, than it is to take out a Sherman with a Tiger - it's just different. </font>

I believe this has something to do with the make of video card. -
They only advice i can give is this: LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS!!! Seriously when engaging bigger, badder foes, know what the outcome will be realisticly. A lone sherman isn't going to KO a Tiger (unless you're a really lucky bastard ). I tend to avoid these kind of situations all together. Only pick fights when you know you can win, unless you have no choice. Otherwise it's usually going to be a waste of resources. That sherman (or something else for that matter) could be put to better use to destroy weaker tanks, or blasting away at infantry.

I would call in artillery for less. I say if you have it use it, why go one on one with a panther (in which case you're almost sure to lose)?

I think he expected the IL2's to only attack once, and then go away. Maybe he can clarify.

Yeah, air support sticks around for a while. No bug.

The truth is no-one can tell you because it's so subjective, have you heard of www.cmmods.com or www.combatmission.com, there you will find lots of mods with preview (usually) pictures, so you can decide what you like. I for example really like mister Noobie's work (for soviet armour), but i don't know any German mods. For uniforms there is AndrewTF., and many more. If you go to cmmods.com, chances are that you won't find some of the modders i mentioned, because a couple of month ago, that site crashed losing all of it's contents . Luckily people have uploaded most of it again, especially Astrocat (big thanks to him btw). You browse by designer and under Astrocat you will find the most diverse mods. But not all of them have preview pics. combatmission.com is also very good, although there aren't many new mods for CMBB (last time I checked at least). Well happy hunting.
