  1. You make excellent points (trying not to reveal too much about my own shoot and scoot, ). I wonder if the defensive AI would be less prone to abandon excellent dug-in positions around a flag when I take a different flag, if they saw all my units? Discussion item.
  2. I was reading another thread and it spoke of turing off FOW so that both sides see everything on the board. I have noticed in my gaming against the AI, that it tends to run hither and tither to wherever my units pop up and he can sees them. He sees an inf unit in trees A, his units move toward it to destroy it. That unit disappears or is destroyed and the AI sees another unit in trees B, and now moves toward it. Would the AI play better if it saw all your units and made "decisions" based on your entire force? Or am I asking too much of the AI?
  3. I am too cheap to be on the cutting edge. But I am enjoying Rise of Nations now (though I am generally not a real time player). I go back to Kampfgruppe and a war in russia game that predates that and was played on our Atari 800 computer. Can't remember the name of it, but it was tough to beat. Oh and Tanktics (I think that was the name). Used a board and counters and a computer program to move units and resolve attacks.
  4. No, I didn't. I see your point though. Just not applicable in this case.
  5. It is as Flamingknives described. I am sure there is a call for 2 IL-2's to attack ONCE. But I was bombed 3 times, missled 3 times and strafed (actually more than 3 times as each attack includes multiple strafes). I have CMBB Special Edition that I patched with the latest from Battlefront.com. I have not seen this bug with other reinforcements that the AI gets during a scenario, only with aircraft. If no one else has ever had this happen, then it must be something pecular to my program, which must mean something happened during the patch, etc. Sounds like I should reload and see what happens.
  6. When playing against the AI (me as Germans), in Porechye Bridgehead, my troops were attacked on at least 3 different occassions by IL-2's. Each time they would bomb, then missle, then strafe for several turns. Then a few turns later, they would do it again. I checked the scenario and it only calls for them once. Is this a bug? Do I need to reload? Does the fact that I restarted the scenario from a save game spot have anything to do with this bug? I have noticed this in other scenarios too.
  7. I don't understand this aggressive defense either. I have noticed the same, on many established scenarios, the defending AI will send its troops out of its prepared positions and right into wire, mines, etc.
  8. I would like to see some replays of these people that only lost a couple KT. Especially, how do you over bound 4 tanks on a street that holds 2 or 3 wide? How do your tanks on over watch see the IS's that are set up on the side of a building pointing at your flank? (The KT comes into its view, how do the other KT's see this IS?) How do you survive the initial fire from the IS's on your flank? My experience is that the AI gets hits about 90% of the time with its first shot. (The scenario with the Tigers and Panthers versus the IS2's and T34/85's showed the AI getting first shot hits as the Russians 17 of 19 times, my Tigers and Panthers ran 15 of 28 times (53%). I also played this scenario and found the same thing. I see some help in setting arcs (1 left, 1 center and 1 right?).
  9. Thanks, I will remember that. I am a bit of a newby to this game and am learning things all the time (with each scenario I play).
  10. Thanks for your response Redwolf. Both 81mm motors were onboard (in halftracks) and were getting their fire instructions via connected HQ units. I watched each phase up close to see where the mortors landed.
  11. Mike's, thank you for your input. You might be right about them cowering and such, but I was expecting to knock out the open guns, especially with about 15 81mm mortors dropped in each foxhole. I don't know. I do know the one had a full crew of 6? guys. Somehow I saw the one before it was taken under small arms fire, but after the mortors had been dropped. Oh well, no use arguing about it. They say no and that's fine. Just wanted to get an official statement. Thanks for all the input.
  12. I have picked up some data that gives exposure values for various terrain. Do you know how to get the exposure modifier for fences, etc? Do you need to be where it shows you on the fence, or just short of there, (say on open ground)? Thanks. Also, exposure means "exposure to fire" correct? Troops in these positions get a benefit related to exposure from fire? And "cover" means, less chance of being spotted? I don't have a excel spreadsheet on cover bonuses.
  13. And I thought only the AI got these. That's all I have played against and the AI seems to get these all the time. Only their Russian. LOL
  14. Interesting. Is it possible to find out if a unit was a "Fanatic" at the end of the scenario, when you are allowed to look at the entire map and all units? Thanks Thomas
