  1. I thought this might be fun. We can look back in the (hopefully not too distant) future and see who nailed it the closest. This shouldn't be what we necessarily WANT to see, just what we think it MIGHT be. My guess would be France 1940. Reason: It was never covered before in the old CM titles, and it's still WWII. As far as scope is concerned, perhaps something along the lines of "Beyond the Meuse" Limited appeal? maybe. but it could lead to a good introduction to early British (Abbeville) and then Western Desert, then Americans. I have a feeling the modules will be introduced somewhat chronologically to allow, well, modularity.
  2. Amen to that my freind. I think easytarget has taken on a noble task, and from what I've seen he provides good, honest, and productive feedback. Hats off to him and those like him.
  3. IIRC about 8 months after the siege was lifted at the end of Operation Crusader in early December 1941.
  4. If I know my history from "25 years of wargaming" It was just before Rommel locked horns with Auchinleck at El Alamein . [ June 06, 2005, 07:34 PM: Message edited by: simovitch ]
  5. ala ASL.. Make the use of WP scenario specific by allowing the designer the option of checking a box in the "parameters" screen. Same for POZIT.
  6. I noticed my scenarios are in the Pack. No problem at all. Sell them on Ebay for all I care. You missed my ETO Op "HSG B Twin Villages V1.2" No Op's in the pack at all as far as I can see. I don't know what all the fuss is about scenario sharing and packing , but of course that doesn't make it right.
  7. ok, I sent the "no flag" beta version of "HSG Operation Snowdrop" out to junk2drive, and zveroboy, as requested. Thanks again for your time.
  8. The scenario I have in mind to test this approach is designed as Attacker VS AI. It is the "HSG Operation Snowdrop" available at TPG, but the current version has flags. Iron Duke suggested taking out the flags after a playtest and it got the squirrels in my brain turning the weels. I think it might work... JTD I will take you up on your offer (and anyone else) and send you the no flag version to test. It's a quick 15 turn fixed. Thanks,
  9. I would like to hear some comments about what a player's reaction would be to a small-map scenario that had no objective flags and no exit conditions. The victory of course would depend on the number of kills. But would it be too vague for the average player to know what to do? I dont like "scripting" a scenario, but with a small map and well contrived briefing the players would roughly know where geographically to expect the defence. Any thoughts?
  10. A water condensing unit was fitted to the front to reduce loss from the radiator which would otherwise have had to be topped up from the limited drinking water supplies. found this here
  11. "HSG Operation Snowdrop" has been uploaded to The Proving grounds for your playesting pleasure. September 14th, 1942. The SAS raid on Benghasi gets off to a bad start when they run into an Italian roadblock. any comments are welcome.
  12. Reminds me of Halo2. I can only hope that CMX2 looks alot better than this
  13. I think Im going to submit my snowdrop scenario to The Proving Grounds this weekend to see what people think. All you get is Jeep MG's my freinds. I suppose with a little fire control the british player may be able to conserve some of their ammo through the end of the scenario. We shall see.
  14. This is the badboy I'm looking for. with plenty of ammo.
  15. Yes, i've searched the forum and read all the comments and laments. here's mine: Way to produce a game based on small unit actions in North Africa and not include the SAS jeeps with at least a twin-vickers mount and plenty of ammo. I wanted to design a quick little scenario covering the ambush on Stirling's column during Operation Snowdrop. The fakey jeep MG's ran out of ammo by turn 7 . Oh yea... otherwise BFC I do love this game!
  16. I just finished a pbem game where I had a Marder covering a straight shot down a tree-lined road in light fog. suddenly a T34 appears 200m away charging right toward it. The Marder fired and hit (shocking it according to my opponent) but the T34 drove right through my Marder like it was a ghost. Then, realizing the situation it was in, it stopped about 25m past the Marder. the T34 then backed up in reverse, nudged my Marder to the side of the road and pulled off the road into the trees before the movie ended. I blew the T34 away next turn.
  17. Hmmm. How would CM score the kill I wonder  .
  18. I was pleasantly amazed how the actual terrain resembled Toms Ardennes Mod. Here is a photo of the Schwartzenbuch Creek taken from the road between Bullingen and Dom Butgenbach:
  19. Here's a photo I took of the St. Edouards Sanitorium on December 19th 2004. Whoever did the map for this scenario did a great job. I have some more photo's of the Ardennes if anyone is interested
  20. Looks just fab! but what about that boot? There are some NWE icon mods on CMMODS to replace that thing. Gurra, me, and I think junk2drive have done one. thanks for your work
  21. I have run into the same problem with roads on my Ardennes maps, "digitized" in a similar yet more tedious manner. I choose to alter the accurate relief in the hillside road areas to make them a bit less "bumpy". I feel that it's a small trade off for the masses who prefer the cleaner map to the nuts-on historical relief, and I don't think it will ever be questioned, even by those who are intimately familiar with the terrain. What you have brought us here is pretty fecking bueno though magomar.
  22. IMHO Being a student of the Ardennes Offensive "Team Desobry" was a big disappointment for me. Both the Map (The town of Noville looks nothing like the game map representation) the vertical relief, and the german forces (won't give away with spoiler) were not accurate . </font>
  23. I read somewhere that Peiper was rather indignant about his men being referred to as the "blowtorch battalion". He goes on to refer to the fact that he used blow torches not to torch the local neighborhoods, but to heat up the transmissions on his vehicles during those winter months. The nickname caught on with adverse connotations, with the help of the nazi propaganda machine. sound fishy?
