  1. I wonder if Dropbox is (has started?) caching files in there. H2HH certainly doesn't put these files there, so Dropbox doing so would be the only explanation I can think of - it may be part of how Dropbox helps you with undeleting files. I'll have a poke around and see what I can find out. You would have to really go nuts with chat to build up a significant amount of files that way though: at most you would get one new small file per chat exchange. FWIW, you can delete these files with impunity. GaJ
  2. What an awesomely thoughtless, disrespectful way to approach the apparent problem you, alone, have experienced. I'm glad you're not using H2HH anymore, and I don't have the burden of supporting you, for free, which I would otherwise have gladly done.
  3. I'm not massively inclined to help some person who comes out of the blue into a forum calling my work a poorly coded viral program, without even checking with me first. Doesn't it occur to you that _hundreds_ of people are using this program just fine, and the problem might actually be on your machine, not in the program? If some else finds a genuine unintended side effect of running H2HH, please reach out to me politely and I will do my best, as I always do, to support you. For free.
  4. Just now, I've also posted a version of H2HH 2.11.0 that is build on Windows XP. For some reason (which I don't understand yet) the normal Windows version (built on Win7) gives at least one person on Windows Vista a problem. So if H2HH would not start for you: 1) Why didn't you tell me already? 2) Try h2hh-2.11.0-xp.zip GaJ
  5. Hi All, H2HH 2.11.0 is available at http://bit.ly/h2h-helper. At last, it should size itself properly reliably. GaJ
  6. CDavid, Can you do this: Please go to the folder where you extracted h2hh, and right click on h2hh.exe Select "create shortcut". Right click on the shortcut it created, and select "properties". It should look something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9af1tx3ghntkoz5/Screenshot%202014-01-15%2020.58.06.png] except your folder location will be different to mine. What you need to do is edit the "Target". First, put double quotes at each end of the file path that is in there. Then put a space in front of the first double quote. Then put this in front of that space: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /K It should end up looking something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6kcpp4jo7n2v9yx/Screenshot%202014-01-15%2020.58.45.png Then... click "Apply"... and then double click the shortcut. Hopefully, the ms-dos window stays open and you can tell me what's in it! GaJ
  7. Carumba. I'll need to come up with something to try to figure out what's going on on your machine...
  8. Heh - the thing I _most_ want to do with it. It needs to be supported by BFC. It's not out of the question, it's all a matter of priorities and time, for them. GaJ
  9. Auto update refers to refreshing H2HH (looking at your folders and tracking incoming files) as opposed to hitting the "refresh" button. Hmmm - maybe I should name that "auto refresh"!! 2.4.4 is certainly way old: I can't help you with problems with that version. GaJ
  10. Can I check: have you tried the very latest that is here: http://bit.ly/h2h-helper ... currently 2.10.7. This version is supposed to at least give a decent error message why it can't proceed... GaJ
  11. Well, this would be a nice Christmas present if it works for everyone else too! Anyone else? GaJ
  12. Can I check something: this problem didn't start when you changed version of H2HH did it? I'm under the impression that you guys having the problem "didn't change anything, it just stopped working (maybe around the time windows updated)". Is that right? Anyhow, the error message you showed me tells me that we really need to try to find that file. I might not have given you decent instructions before so let's try a bit better. If this gets too hairy, we can always shout out for someone else to try it First, you need to follow the instructions that are here, which makes sure you can see "hidden" folders (you can turn this off again later if you don't like it): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-in-windows-7/ Then - you need to be looking at the contents of your C: folder, like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x8v2pa8ftonl7fs/Screenshot%202013-12-26%2013.55.23.png Double-click on Users and you should be able to see a folder with your account name on it (I am mgregory): https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ukpp3j3fvkqblt/Screenshot%202013-12-26%2013.55.53.png Double click on this, and you should see a folder called AppData: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ygk6ns6brxz68p/Screenshot%202013-12-26%2014.05.06.png You won't see AppData unless you did the "show hidden folders" thing I mentioned above. Inside AppData there should be "Roaming", and inside that there should be GreenAsJade, and inside that there should be H2HHelper ... and inside there there should be AppState.txt: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9lr0kx1ijkmzuq5/Screenshot%202013-12-26%2013.58.17.png First: surely this file must exist, since tryme got past the place where it tests that. If it doesn't, that will be the mystery for us to solve. The error message you have implies that it does exist. In which case, I need to know what's inside it when H2HH is not working. Can you send it to me? Can you also send me h2hh_log.txt. Assuming you found it, one other thing you can do is delete it then run H2HH again. H2HH is supposed to create that file if it's not there. Would be good to see if this happens... That's a bit to get on with Cheers, GaJ
  13. There's no particular place you have to put H2HH. Did the dos window stay open better this time? Unfortunately that message wasn't what I was looking for, can you try 0.0.5? Thanks! GaJ
  14. Based on the error messages you captured from the dos window, it looks for all the world like H2HH can't read it's "state file" for some reason. This file should be stored at: c:\Users\<your username\App Data\Roaming\GreenAsJade\Appstate.txt Can you see if this file exists, and if you can open it with something like notepad? Please send it to me. Meanwhile, try tryme-0.0.4 ... it might also give us some better information. GaJ
  15. Can you right click on the shortcut, select properties, and send me a screenshot. Meanwhile, what you have captured looks like excellent clues, thanks! GaJ
  16. OK - this is a bit tricky to explain. Hopefully someone can figure it. Please go to the folder where you extracted tryme, and right click on tryme.exe Select "create shortcut". Right click on the shortcut it created, and select "properties". It should look something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rnbw8731x0u0rd3/Screenshot%202013-12-24%2014.36.33.png except your folder location will be different to mine. What you need to do is edit the "Target". First, put double quotes at each end of it. Then put a space in front of it. Then put this in front of that space: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /K It should end up looking something like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r73c4x200wwcxf4/Screenshot%202013-12-24%2014.36.50.png Then... click "Apply" and double click the shortcut. Hopefully, the ms-dos window stays open and you can tell me what's in it! GaJ
  17. Ooo.... that's a step forwards. I need to figure out how to catch that script.... thanks...
  18. Thanks Para. That's what it was supposed to do. It tells me that there is something special about H2HH that is not in this simple program that is making H2HH not work. It will be trial and error from here to find out what that is... standby... GaJ
  19. Yes, it won't fix anything, it is just a simple program to tell me if ... I can make a simple program run on your machine!
  20. (ignoring what appears to be a post in the wrong thread...) ...it looks like we need some trial and error here to figure out what's going on. Can some kind person with this problem (h2hh won't work on Win7) try the "tryme" application from here: http://bit.ly/h2hh-debug Thanks, GaJ
  21. Darn, I thought that looked really promising. How far did you get through all those instructions? Also, I'm still waiting to hear what it says, when you get that error, and you ask it to "View more detailed information". Thanks, GaJ
  22. Can you try this: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=20607 Let me know...
  23. Thanks Doug! I don't know what it means, but it's the first lead that I have! GaJ Edit: Hey - what does it say if you view the detailed information?
