  1. Just FYI: Fuerte has released an update for PBEMH that makes CM exit direct to PBEMH after processing an order from a non-PBEMH player. This is a simple-yet-wonderful improvement. As far as I'm aware, you have to download the "small update" not the "complete reinstall" to get this feature. It's worth it! GaJ. (I wonder if John "got it"? )
  2. You guys could do me a favour and head on over to the ROW thread and back me up. Not one of my ROW opponents uses it, which is sad :-( . No-one bit on my plug for it either :-(
  3. ROTFL. Wish I thought of it first! (I didn't "get it" till I read the subsequent post! ) GaJ. [ March 02, 2004, 02:45 AM: Message edited by: GreenAsJade ]

  6. In fact, previous threads concluded that "Cover armour will only trigger on enemy units that can hurt armour". Therefore an HT with an MG will not trigger it but an HT with a 37mm gun will. (I haven't actually tested that specific example, come to think of it, but I think its right!)
  7. What about scattered trees & vines? It'd be wonderful to have those: I have at least two scenarios that I'm playing at the moment where most of the terrain is either trees or vines!
  8. Would someone be able to sumamrise the grid mods that are available for CMAK now? Thanks!!! GaJ.
  9. I was amazed to find that none of my opponents use Fuerte's PBEM Helper . It is a must have for playing CM by email. A turn arrives (from someone using it) ... double click and you are _in the game_: turn file saved in the right place, CM fired up and password entered. A button press and a click at the end of the game and the turn is sent back to the opponent: no messing around with saving and attaching etc. It is true that it's a bit fiddly to set up, but it is really worth it. Here is what PBEMH looks like for me, just after I receive a turn for the game called 2-Hill... I'm ready to play that game and waiting for all the others (hint hint). Click here if you didn't see it yet. GaJ. [ February 29, 2004, 05:14 AM: Message edited by: GreenAsJade ]

  12. Fuerte's PBEM Helper ... I am amazed how many serious CM PBEMers haven't heard of it or don' use it. Not one of my ROW IV opponents uses it (which is a shame, cause it means more mouse clicks for me to get the game going). Anyhow, PBEMH has a feature where you can theoretically run through all the movies in sequence, zooming and panning around as you like. The big drawback is that CM has to reload the graphics between each turn: pretty much destroys the flow of things :-( Also, regrettably, the feature seems to be somewhat flakey: it is strongly dependent on the turn files being numbered in the way that it expects (understandably), but for various practical reasons this is not always the case. Anyhow, this post is supposed to be a strong plug for PBEMH: if you play by email, you need this tool (and your opponent will thank you too). GaJ.
  13. Looks like you got 4 volunteers for BMP numbering already, Gordon!
  14. (I've taken this to email, where all good one-on-one discussions occur)

  17. I dunno - most people who develop free services are delighted to have polite suggestions for improvement: how else would they know what their loving crowds would like next?
  18. You've got something wierd happening. At all camera angles the troops are huge at +3 and +4 on my 1600x1200 LCD... GaJ.

  21. The use for the forum is to keep us all informed about what's going on. Or that is what it _could_ be useful for, if it wasn't full of ranting and "I sent my turn" messages

  24. Use McMMM. It sorts all that sort of thing out for you. Click to install, click to uninstall. Get it at CMMODS . GaJ.
  25. I don't think it's broken, but I do think that there's room for improvement. </font>
