  1. I didn't try hard to reproduce it when I saw it because I didn't know where to start. Unfortunately, I had to cloes the game (other things intervened) and when I returned the effect was gone. It definitely happened though! I have Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo, 6.14.10.6392 drivers. GaJ.
  2. I have seen grey exterior walls too, once. I couldn't reproduce it though. I'll try roof-off-oc-trans in the next desert scenario I fire up...
  3. At one stage, for some reason, I had to do control-refresh, or F5 (can't remember which) to get the page after the login to display....
  4. I don't recall even actors in Hollywood movies being able to see the ordnance flying around, and in fact this is something I've wondered about. How big did the lead have to be before people could see it? Could you really see the charge from a 50mmish tank gun? If you couldn't see it in real life, make sure we keep it quiet, or BFC will take it away!!
  5. Because redwolf is on the nose at BFC at the moment! (I'd buy it too, after I buy JC's strategy guide - when is that coming out?).
  6. BFC, CMMODS, Scenario Depot. (Incidentally, B&T is at bootsandtracks.com now. Jaws - Why would you go there daily?)
  7. How does having bogged or immobile units at the end of the game affect the score? Ta, GaJ.
  8. A1: yes, in a limited way. Look up "Play By Email Helper": it gives you this sort of functionality _in a limited way_. A2: Thousands. A3: The only must-have mods for CMAK are caffino's 10m grids. There are lots of other really nice ones, but the graphics in CMAK are pretty nice to start with. Get them at CMMODS. Get a Mod Manager while you are there. A4: There are various ladders. You can Google for them. The Proving Grounds and Wargamers come to mind. " A lot of good men are gonna die becuase of my poor leadership " If it is as poor as your spelling, that seems inevitable GaJ.
  9. It makes sense that they are poor _cover_, but my experience in A Mountain Retreat was that they are excellent _concealment_. Still - this is all talk: I will try it out when I have a moment. BTW, what is the thinking on WP's advice not to hide on defense? Goes against my instincts!!
  10. BTW, it was raining, I was hiding but facing the right way. I had good-medium LOS over the whole approach area. IE his men walked right under my light blue spotting line without me seeing them. This "Don't hide, vines are poor concealment" is something that warrants a test, methinks! (Scrabbles away to fire up the scenario editor...)
  11. Has anyone noticed the outstanding concealment that vines have to offer? I just played "A Mountain Retreat" twice (PBEM), and both times the attacker managed to get within 30-50m of my defensive position (IE to the edge of the vines) completely undetected. It's something that scenario designers need to be careful of, lest they inadvertently give the attacker a rather unexpected advantage! GaJ.
  12. Nice mods. Physics isn't being defied, some clown just put the hub-cap of the spare on the wrong way around (bulge upward).
  13. Well, that's good news, even if we don't know what TRL was just about to say
  14. Heresay plus my experience is that "variable length" means "add five". Anyone got any contrary experience? I guess this is a bug?
  15. Line of Defense. It appears to not be on the CD, but something with that name is at the Scenario Depot: http://www.dragonlair.net/combatmission/CMAKscenarioreview02.php?name=L gets you close. GaJ.
  16. Grab a Mod Manager: it takes all the hassle away. If you don't use one, make sure you back up the exsting BMPs, so you can reverse the mod if you don't like it. You can get them at CMMODS (where I presume you got Caffino's grids?). GaJ.
  17. I mean what kind of software bug is it that stretches a piece of fire on the end of a bridge!? (IE I know how to reproduce it, I just can't imagine what causes it!)

  19. Did you understand the description of the colours? If you don't want to read any other stuff, then understand the colours & blast value. If you didn't understand what Joachim said about colors, let us know and we will re-phrase it...
  20. Yeah, me too. I would love to know _why_ though? What kind of strange bug causes that to happen!!?!?

  22. I agree with diesel... let us know what specifically is the problem and we will try to help. When you install it, you should say "yes" to all the options (if I recall correctly!). Especially the one that says "make PBEMH the default application for .pbm files" (or something like that). That option is the one that makes it so that if your opponent uses PBEMH, then you can just double click on their attachment and PBEMH will open the game for you. Some basic things: 1) Make sure PBEMH knows about the version of CM that you are playing. If it does, it will show up in the top part of the PBEMH window, under installed games. If it doesn't (probably not first up) go to options->modify installed programs. Double click on CMAK or CMBB or CMBO. Make sure that it knows where you have installed the program: select "Browse" and tell it if it seems not to know. Hit "OK"... it should be showing now in the top part of the window. 2) Hit "refresh". If you have some games in progress, saved in the PBEM folder, PBEMH should find them already. They will show up in the bottom part of the window, with status "new". If you don't have a game already going, get it going, save a turn, then hit "refresh"! PBEMH will be a lot tidier to use if you name the game save files like: Somthing_xxx.txt where xxx is the turn number (001 etc) Now... here are some words about what to do/expect if your opponent does _not_ use PBEMH. 1) Look under "options" and select the "set additional working folder" option. Take note of where it tells you this folder is, then say "OK". This is the place where you will store the attachments from your unenlightened opponent. 2) Select one of the games and hit "Edit". Fill in your password for the game and your opponent's email address. Change the Mode setting from "Send as PBEM" to "Send as is" for your poor unenlightened opponent. Click the "taunt your opponent" check box. Finally you are set up. It sounded like a lot, but actually it's just a few clicks once you have done it the first time. NOW. If you just saved your turn, then select the game and press "send". PBEMH will present you with a window to type a message to your opponent. Off goes the message... notice how you didn't have to mess around with attachments? NOW. When your opponent replies with a .txt file containing their turn, save that attachment in the "additional working folder" place. Then fire up PBEMH, double click on the game and sit back: you should see PBEMH start up CM for you, go through the initial screens, type in your password and TADA ... you are ready to play. WHEN you have finished your orders and hit "DONE" or "GO", press F5. PBEMH will fill in the name of the save file for you with the turn number updated and exit CM... you can even tell it to send the turn straight away. PHEW. Is that any help? As has been said many times, it's fiddly to get going, but once you have it figured out you will find it hard to imagine how people do without. There is a picture of what it should look like when you have it set up here . If your opponent uses it as well, it's even better, because you don't have to save their attachment, you just click on it in the email and TADA you are playing CM. GaJ. 23. I agree. I have no quibble with whether or not trenches in pavement are allowed. My issue is with the interface not warning me that they are not allowed... GaJ.
