  1. Rematch time. I take Axis, same bid. Cos is out for revenge.
  2. So typically me, posting at the beginning and now at the end. Hell's only fault was putting high value pieces in the elbow hex. I bought extra armies, bought corps, and used the weak air (carriers + unsupported UK air) to pick off units with low str. That strat cost me 2 carriers, but it gained the time needed, and Axis simply couldn't put more soldiers in the line. Good game by Hell.
  3. Turn 2: - LC falls to Axis, Carrier + transport spotted off Denmark. Transport attacked by AF, carrier intercepts. - Poland lives on, Konigsberg captured - Corps on elbow hex destroyed, 2 transports show up on west coast of denmark, ready to take anything left over. - Subs not found yet - 2 BB's attack german corp attacking copenhagen. Counter attacks expected.
  4. Okay folks, this is going to be a match for TV. Hellraiser (aka cosmin) is gonna try and take the title for himself. Since I'm #1 ISCL, we all know how impossible that task is for him! In any case, bid is 245, I'm Allies. No AA, std rulez. Turn 1: - Cos gets Pol Brk - Ireland not DoWed - Fr Fleet not disbanded
  5. I know exactly what you mean, but it's a small drawback. Besides, the germans moved big ships a few times around the UK from Kiel->Brest or vice versa. Besides, it's only 1 ship/turn, so yes, you could bring the whole of 3-4 ships in 3-4 turns, but you have to first pay the costs, and then again if you want to go back to Kiel. That's expensive, but at least it's an option. You could also move them and take the associated risks with reduced costs. The big point is that Alexandria harbour or Malta or Gibraltar can be (slowly) reinforced with no risks (other than the costs). To operand, a ship would have to be in port, and then could operand to another port. So, yeah you could move your whole fleet around in a few turns, that's a few months in gameplay time, which is completely realistic anyways. The Italians probably benefit the least, but could still use it to transfer ships from west med->east, or Atlantic, or Kiel if it wanted, but only one a turn, and possible with a rule that there must be an un-zoc'd path from port->port. Comments?
  6. Actually, that sounds like a potentially great idea! Operating chips eh? Yeah, I'd support it for sure. Shouldn't be hard to implement. Since it would be quite expensive anyhow to operate them (60-70mpp a ship), it most likely won't be too abused, and could provide an interesting scenario! You guys should really playtest it! Maybe operating ships should be one at a time, only to the 'port' square, not every adjacent square. That way, there could be super-suprise encounters, but a slow and sure build up of a fleet in a far off place.... what does everyone else think?
  7. Does anybody have any information on any existing hack program out there for SC1? Not vague rumours, but hard evidence. @Rambo: Sigh, again, I don't cheat. I never will, never have. End of conversation. Oh, and if I do cheat, why wouldn't I use my magic abilities against Terif?! Besides, there is no one, no one, I care even an ounce about beating, except Terif, whom I'll never beat, because he's god at this game. @Liam: !!! I can't believe you saying that stuff! Nothing personal Liam, look at your ISCL standings, and read what they say. Not one of my games listed on ISCL (#1, 12-9) have been against you (11-48). Anybody else could say that I suck and it would mean more than coming from you. @Terif: Are you still playing games these days?
  8. Play Rambo? What's the point? He'll just give up when he's losing JOKE. Seriously tho, isn't that the truth?! last 2 games you bailed on me man, that ain't fair. I've done the same though, so i'm a hypocrite if i chastise you hehe. However, 'gainst DP shouldn't matter as you'll be on the winning side. When was the last time a Croatian won a war?! Didn't they 'lose' some serious territory in the Balkans War XXXI (aka 1992-199x)?
  9. Spain attacked. People, this is basically the same cookie-cutter strategy that everyone always uses. the exciting part is post-barbarossa
  10. Norway converted, Sweden falls next turn. It's October 40 and Vichy still not conquered. Suez taken, Alexandria is soon enough.... The question is, when will the minors join?
  11. Canadian corp left in Brest, port is out of commission. RAF nowhere to be seen, not even Egypt yet, which is under attack by a few units. Not enough to be taken yet
  12. Lost the german navy before, that'll probably hurt in the long run! In any case, france fell on June 16 (axis turn), and i haven't lost too much. Could have been worse in france. Going for the minors...
  13. Turn 2 -LC fell -subs running -No polish breakthru before
  14. What can I say? I respect the man for his outspokeness. That takes guts. I don't think ever ever seen Rambo cross the magic line of decency (well, not too often anyways).
  15. Different players are definitely better at certain periods of the game, also dependant on the side. I don't really like rankings though, because they're like IQ tests; they're not very reliable/accurate sometimes. In any case, I was suprised to see me so high in all fields. Given that my IQ ranges from 120-160 depending on the test I take, I see nothing here to brag about.
  16. Wow. Thanks for making my day Sombra . I think everyone has a different perspective on how good people are. For sure some think Rambo #2, but others think Zapp is, or me, or etc etc. What counts is consistentcy. I don't think I give away many games, and rarely do I not play my A game, except against Terif . Rambo is an excellent player, and on his good days, he's GOOD. But, like he already knows, he likes to screw with new strategies. I don't think it's a bad thing at all, but it costs him many games. Zapp too thinks this way. I really try to follow the way of Terif, but it's a long, hard, rocky path
  17. Actually, that's exactly what I'm planning. Moving out. I think it's best for now. If I stick around, things will get worse. Moving out will give me room to breath, and give my relationship time to fix itself.
  18. I'm not as sad as I am dissappointed. Believe it or not, part of our 'disagreements' were about the housework. She's like my mother. Look, I understand that the dishes have to be done, trash taken out, floors washed, etc, but when you start acting like my mother instead of my lover, passions start to wane. I'm not a pig by any means, but I choose as well not to be a neat-freak. I prefer being laid-back, and she's the type who always needs something 'productive' to do. It's a serious difference in personalities. Tough part is that part of me still loves her, but another part of me can't live with her anymore. I came to Germany for the girl dammit!! Whatever. There are other fish in the sea. As a matter of fact, there's a really cute blonde in the office who's flirting with me
  19. Well, things will be settled at home, that's for sure. Fortunately/Unfortunately, things are crawling to an end with my girlfriend *sniff*. Mostly mutual, but I will be finding another place here in Leipzig shortly (probably the 1st). So, although it's mostly bad news, I can gladly say that my SC time will increase around 20 fold! And, of course, we'll finish our game first, it's nowhere near finished. I also have ongoing games with Rambo (successful spanish gambit game), Sombra (Fall Blau), and Zapp. I should try to finish those too!! One problem as well is that Deutsche Telekom charges outrageous ISDN prices (no DSL available at my gf's place). I'll be sure to find DSL availability at my next place however.
  20. Like we didn't expect these outcomes Terif, we need to make an appointment. If anyone can challenge your axis prowess, it is I
  21. Believe it or not, we had a power outage. wtf... i just went to bed.
  22. @Rambo> We have a game to finish as well, don't forget!! Mind you, since we're so out of sync in time zones, it'll probably be christmas when we get to it again.
  23. Hmm... didn't notice this thread til now. Ok, my thoughts on this: Terif really doesn't like Zapp. He became annoyed for whatever reason (good or bad), and doesn't want to play Zapp ever again. Ever. Well, never say never. Wait, i said 'ever'. Ok, i'm screwed up. In any case, don't anyone blame Terif for being a wimp or dick for not playing Zapp, it's his choice, leave him alone. On the other side, I don't think it's uncalled for that some of us would like to see another game between 'old friends'. Wait, let me rephrase that, 'old adversaries'. I don't think the old Zapp and Terif relationship could ever have been construed as a friendship. Off on a tangent again, ok, so MYSELF included, I'd like to see those two fight a last game. I think ONE last game couldn't hurt. Terif, you could make Zapp sign a waiver form saying that this will be his last chance to ever play you, and should this discussion ever appear again, you can point to his signature . I stress to all who read this that this is just a GAME. A *explitive* game. Get that in your heads. I see people go overboard on smacktalk, become bad losers, and/or poor winners. Those people I cannot respect, for they have really lost all perspective. I enjoy playing Terif, so I will keep my relations with him intact. He's not my friend per-se, he's more like an advanced AI computer opponent to me. Sort of like Deep Blue. In other words, this is the Internet, and friendships die more easily than they do in real-life, at least imo.
