  1. He's Axis again for 240. Going with ZCC. Let's see if it works this time
  2. Think Zapp has changed his mind :DD ZCC is too weak early. Just walk over the rhine, punch holes, take munich, and get your corps/armies into positions where Axis have to guard every city. [ July 15, 2005, 07:59 PM: Message edited by: Avatar ]
  3. Took Frankfurt, destroyed corps. Sweden and rumania are still fighting. Zapp surrenders. I told ya
  4. Romania holds out and it will be turn 4. Sweden invaded. Allies put pressure on german forces in hungary. Closing in on the airfields
  5. Romania will hold for another turn of invasion. Corp destroyed in Munich, fr armies advance. Fr HQ and Brit HQ spotted. Germans have only 1 AF in west. Subs destroyed...
  6. Damn it losing that cruiser.... oh well. French on the attack. Axis can't be everywhere. Pressure from every corner
  7. Allies haven't invaded LC, but invaded with all armies to the east side of the Rhine. UK AF detected in France, no HQ though. 4 fr armies attack a 7 str corp, and it gets destroyed. Berlin in reach of a fr Corp.
  8. Axis attack all in on Poland. 2 AFs stay in the east, 3rd one moves also. Allies move all fr armies across the Rhine, putting one axis corp out of supply.
  9. Bidding at 250 for Zapp. He's Axis. Gonna be a good fight.... for me
  10. Okay, guys, we all know why he's top 5 material, will it be enough? Bidding starts....
  11. LOL LOL LOL Too funny. Yeah, guess it's pretty well-known about the walking ball&chain in my house. I was launching SC yesterday, and she literally walks over, turns off the computer and says non-chalantly "let's go outside". How lame is THAT?! Seriously, looking for games now and then, but you guys aren't on when i come home from work anymore!! what's up with that? I've been itching to try out a couple more 'new' strats... got some unseen stuff to try out
  12. My god, i haven't even played in 8 weeks, expect for 2 short games the day before yesterday. Slaughtered JJR, surrendered early to Condor. Condor's good! I went all-in expecting an easy victory.
  13. I'm Alive!! Sry guys, was in Canada, and parents with no net (wtf??), so I was in limbo for awhile. Was fun, nice to be in NA for a change... Europe can be a little dull sometimes. But, I'm biased, so ignore that comment! SO, I'm back, and I'm ready as ever for some play. DH, are you still ok for playing? I didn't even finish my game gainst Zapp, so I don't know what my chances are anymore, but I'm still more than willing to play if you want to.
  14. Turn 4, Ardennes breakthru. Corps shuffled in. RAF attacking out of London, doing damage to my AFs. Royal Navy broke into Baltic after sinking the sub, and damaged one cruiser to 5. Returned cruisers to port.
  15. Pretty much copying Terif here. Attacks have been good, Pol surrendered turn 2, denmark turn 3. RAF is in London intercepting and attacking Antwerp port. Fr AF is also doing missions. No 2nd AF tho *yet*. Bought 2 AFs instead of Manstein. He's next purchase tho when I get a chance.
  16. Polish Breakthru. Going for LC next turn. Subs hunting.
  17. IMO, Russia would have 'won' by seizing the rest of Germany, as well as the rest of south east europe that they didn't have. You guys are imagining a slug-fest, another world war III, but chances were likely that Stalin would have taken what he could by force, and then made peace with the West as soon as it was practible. Soviet industries, far from Allied Bombers (unlike Germany's) could not be bombed, and therefore could churn out much more equipment that would have been readily on hand. I'm not saying they could have waltzed through all of western europe, but they certainly could have taken another large chunk. In a scenario like this, Stalin could have justified more aggression by stating that Russia's losses were far greater than those of most combatant nations. The West would have fought, but most likely the Rhine and Alps would have been a barrier to further aggression. And would the Allies fight to gain back those possessions? 90% not. Besides, Germany caused Russia so much grief, the West might have allowed the russians to keep Germany under its boot! It would still be the Cold War like we know it, but with the Iron Curtain around a 1000km west of it's historical position.
  18. Zapp, let's add one more person, I prefer HR. No point with Terif, it's not really a challenge for him to beat us. But the 4 of us should make a good tourney. If not HR, then Rambo. If both, then we need 3 others of course.
  19. Thanks guys. It was an experience. I will tell you this though: Terif will never let this happen again, so you're witnessing history ;P.
  20. Game over, Allies win. A post-game report to follow.
  21. Actually HR, I used the UK Navy to attack Denmark too. I think tho you're forgetting that somehow Malta needs replacement. My preferred method is using the badly depleted Fr AF (after a couple intercepts/attacks) to Op to Malta. You don't wanna bother reinforcing later as it's nigh-useless against by-now experienced german AFs, and, you get to keep it after Paris falls anyhow. You could move it to Africa or use it elsewhere for spotting or whatever. In addition to what HR said, you can do a 'limitied' 'all-in', where you know as the allies you can't stop axis from getting paris, so you do as much damage as possible, and hold on as long as you can, but come a certain point, you evacuate and make a decision not to defend paris anymore. This way, you won't lose as much for UK when it's post-france. Since playing Terif, and he got to Oct '41, I thought that Russian readiness starts rising Mar '41, but it doesn't! It never does! It raises normally in June 22nd. So there's not a huge huge point is losing a lot in france, since you're just that much weaker later on. A middle-point strategy should work well however.
  22. Game continues this coming weekend..... stay tuned. Perhaps Terif and I will live AAR the rest.
  23. Terif's right about everything. Really. It kind of is a fluke I have him in a headlock. But, it happened, not my fault! In all seriousness, I have a very demanding girlfriend, who, unlike zapp/jjr/hellraisers' girlfriends, she will NOT let me play 12 consecutive hours. She's the type who literally pulls the plug on my computer. I just can't play super long games! I have no choice but to go for shorter ones! Deutsche Telekom charges ISDN by the minute, so in my old appartment, a 2 hour game of SC would cost me around 10 euro. In Canada, it was different, but here..... Well, Yoda will have his revenge sometime soon. My dream would be, of course, to beat him twice consecutively [ May 23, 2005, 07:58 AM: Message edited by: Avatar ]
  24. JJ, I agree 100% with your reasonings. However, I believe 'plunder' should be seen as more abstract. An additional corp (or whatever) created by liberating a country can equally be transposed with 'plunder' money. For the sake of easier programming, and more simplified game flow, it's easier that the allied player just decide what he wants to spend the money on. Portugal, when it declared war on the Axis provided almost entirely money and auxiliary troops, kinda like most free minor countries did. All this can be translated into MPP. A corp would be too restrictive. At the time, you might need the extra money for AF's or whatever, and getting a corp, well, it's just not enough.
