  1. The one I don't get is the brown gray diagonal paint on the early British desert vehicles.
  2. I just like to see how a typical game plays out. Will it be bunch of MEs dancing around jabbing at each other? Or will it be somefink like: Two MEs meet on the battlefield and start a fight. Both sides toss in a few more MEs and the battle lines spread out to make a long front. Some more MEs join in at the edges-really long front. A few more mobile MEs line up in the back field waiting to soft spot, looking to break thru and cut off supplies or roll up the line. Just wondering how a battle will go.
  3. I bet Beta testing would go faster if they asked some of us unworthy to play out a few of the CMBB games. We wouldn't even need the CMC game to play them. Just trying to be helpful.
  4. I must have missed this thread when it got started. The JasonC venomous blast of Carl P was unfreaking believable. Jason, Close your eyes take a deep breath and say "It's only a game. It's only a game." OI, If you want fun play one of those Random Reinforcement games by CarlP. Play them 2 player only. No historical reality at all. But pure frigging fun. Play "Bonkers in the Bocage". Troops coming in from all sides (yours and the enemys) turn after turn. For more fun try Inferno by SoddBall. Lotsa Flamers and big guns. Jason has often said much of combat is either days and weeks of sitting around in foxholes followed by major tanks against scattered infantry. Not fun as CM games go but real life combat. Sure there are some "FUN" historical scenarios but there can be many more fun ones that don't need to be scrutinized to the minutiae of was the bi-pod available on the Italian MG in Sept 40 or was that Nov 40? "It's only a game. It's only a game. It's only a game. It's only a game. It's only a game. It's only a game. It's only a game. It's only a game."
  5. Lili Von Shtupp = Madaline Kahn in Blazing Saddles. Siegfried von Kappelhoff = Bernie Kopell in Get Smart Sgt Schultz in Hogan's Hereos
  6. B70, You're right. The progress report will be released when its ready.
  7. The progress report will go something like this: It will be released when it's ready.
  8. I think CMAK needs a patch to add some dust for MG fire.
  9. From earlier discussions, deployment is based on the formation of the ME (manuever element) at the time the contact is initiated. If your ME is in road travel and the enemy ME is deployed dugin/hidden. Your guys will be all in a row on the road. The enemy's will be dugin in nice hidden dug-in positions. Thus an ambush scenario would be fought. In CMC, sometimes you can't always setup where you want. It wouldn't be a case of depolying stoopidly just a case of being caught off-gaurd. A maneuver element of some ACs and HT ahead of the main body would be a good idear. Bottom line: Yes it was an intelligent comment.
  10. Jason, Good point on the need to test the remote CMBB battles in order to fully test the CMC/CMBB interface. One solution would be to have the CMC beta-testers ask us common folk to play a battle or two of CMBB for them. Parallel fighting of the generated battles could speed testing up immenesly.
  11. First of all I say most authors that submitted work to TSD1 would probably be glad to see their files being transfered to TSD2 with proper recognition. "Find MIA Authors" is a great idea, however comma if in a reasonable time the authors don't show something should be done to preserve those great works. I'd say 30 or 60 even 90 days would be a reasonable time. I agree creating accounts in the other authors name is not the right thing to do. But after that 60 days has passed, you could create an account called: "Uploader Subsitute Dude" or some disclaimer named account. All unclaimed scenarios could be loaded under that account. In the Authors Comment box the real authors name would be listed. If and when the author comes around the file could be moved under his name. Couple of problems: If someone was searching for more scenarios by the same author - copuld be hard to find. There are scenarios out there that don't have a breifing so the real author may never be known.
  12. Do you plan on up loading all the old scenarios that are now zipped at the CMMODS site?
  13. Let us not forget Gary does this out the kindness of his own heart and his own wallet. There is a paypal link at the bottom of the left column. Maybe if we pay him enough, he'll offer online courses on Bayesian statistical analysis.   Uber confused.
  14. I can't tell you how many times I've had on-board mortar teams finish the game with full ammo loads due to poor visibility. Night, fog, or sand storm. Even extreme tree cover can screw it up. They cant see beyond the tubes minimum range. Even with ossifiers spotting the combined range (tube to leader to target) is still too short for the minimun range. Any solutions?
  15. Can they be passengers on Trucks???
  16. How would they be represented while the unit was moving over land on the approach to the river? What if the game allowed conditional reinforcements? When you reach the river, the boats show up in next turn? Or they show up many turns later as was case at Nijemegen bridge in Market Garden.
  17. Stalingrad topo map of the whole area. OR Stalingrad MAP At this site select MAPS then scroll for Stalingrad and download the file. Or try Google select Images type in Stalingrad Map.
  18. Can you spell P-R-I-N-T-E-R. Printers, wonderful inventions, they turn PDF files into paper.
  19. Last time I was a bishop I walked diagonally!
  20. Its the surface area/contact with air of the meat that allows the bacteria to grow. Steak/roast have low surface area to volume ratios. Hamburger is all surface area. Burger well/Steak rare is correct way to cook. Also a good butcher will age large hunks of meat for weeks at refer temps. Hamburger shouldn't be kept uncooked for more that 3 days without freezing
