  1. What i would like to see is a "last known position" Marker that counts the turns unit since last spot. I would like to see that marker sit there unit another unit was spotted in that position or the same unit was respotted. then i wouldn't have to remenmber what hex a unit was in 3 turns ago when i trying to figure out where it could be now. Even though i know it's one hex outta my spotting range
  2. That's not true i can think of 4 off hand. 1. Spotting distance of unit type 2. Tech level for A.C. spotting 3. type of unit being spotted (I.E. Subs) 4. all of which are modified by range to unit. True but don't forget the SCALE of this game these units being spotted are soo large they cannot be hidden. maybe some minor details could be worked into the system like a small variance of unit strength with more accuracy as length in spotting range/units spotting could effect that value but otherwise the current system does a fine job. This game currently has great replayability. As a matter of fact it has the best replayability of any game I know of that (mostly) uses the same map. I still want a random map generator to kick butt on the map learners I think of them as Pacman strategists Would all be well and good but is not nessesary. Mine too nothing like a good "shell game" in the med. That's why i love Civ2 MPG soo much random maps change exploring and expanding. An old game empire was like that and is was a great diversion. Hmm maybe your playing the wrong opponents.
  3. The manual is wrong it is only British territories at the beginning of the game. Exidus them to England,Malta,Gilbraltor and Egypt and they will stay. I never tested canada? prob not though. This one gets everyone at first I was Truley pissed when i spent the mpp's to operate the polish AF to england and it flew back and surrendered when poland fell LOL

  5. I have played rambo a few times and though he does have one suck ass connection (And has a big mouth) I find him an honerable opponent. On a side not if you do a search for "persistant" you should find a recommendation i made to hubert awhile back that would stop this type of thing from happening. By makeing a persistant seed and saveing it at turns end then no matter how many times you reload the outcome of the battles will be identicle. There are many other methods to stop cheaters for instance...A random seed dump encrypted with timestamp will show any manipulations of battle outcomes.

  7. Lol you shoulda pulled a Irish and disconnected demand to be host and then never lose a battle. I know the feeling. There is no way you can beat Terif if you have bad luck. And maybe not even if you don't have Good luck. <EG>
  8. Well my first game since feb. and Bam take Poland in one denmark half gone. Nice to see the luck fall my way Lol. Had a few issues though could not load a game sent to me said it was incompatible and the menu's seem to be REAL slow now. Also whats with this updateing the scenerio's? Is there a list of the changes somewhere? Kinda wierd cause it let me load a 1.06 pbem save just warned me about it.
  9. It would'nt hurt to start a Sthread with players names,contact info and method of play. Since i am no longer playing tcpip i decided to get a pbem going with the new patch but there doesn't seem to be a players list anywhere. And don't look stupid and post something idiotic like "Post in the opponents finder forum" PBEM gamers do not look there and any post not answered in and hour scrolls off the bottom. ALL great timeless games have player lists and this should be no exception. We tried this before and had a great amount of posts but it drifted off into never never land.

  12. I woulda voted against but i ain't been playing. But i thought the reason for the bidding system was to in effect stop the need for house rules? wierd it comes down to needing both? Kind of makes the Bidding argument Moot.
  13. Yeah it does get sickening. It's easy to say u'd die rather than give in to naxi's but most people i've run into are full of bull**** and piss thier pants when called on it. But this i believe is a load of crap. See americans would not have allowed the low countries to not defend themselves. We take our defense alot more seriously than some petty political crap. If france had been the good ol USofA then The Low Gambit could very well have been a reality. Isolationists i believe were the flavor of the day at that time. just the type to not allow themselves to be put in Frances position.   14. I think u missed one big one. CANADA and USA if some gamey ******* sneaks a unit across the Atlantic Partisons should be popping up every turn.
  15. It would seem to me that the players could agree to not use it in a game and if they choose to use it then it would affect the bidding. Sure go ahead and use it but i'll take allies with 700 or some such thing. But in my opinion Rome should have a fully entrenched army and all italian cities on the mainland should have a corp. Butt opinions are like.... LOL
  16. thx man Back actually got better for awhile so i started getting my life back in order but whamm did something stupid and i'm laid up again. Seems like u can never catch up once u get behind. I'll have to brush up some old skills and learn the new patch now. haven't played since like Feb. Dropped in the Gen and almost got into a few o the "debates" But i ain't got the energy or the mindset for it yet. LOL Can't think 2 words straight with a Soddering Iron sticking in ur back Lol. First priority is too GET the meds balanced! Mohahaha. And check out this Rambo rome thing. Sounds like it should leave alot map unprotected

  18. Hmm a new rome invasion? is it a byproduce of the new patch? I remember when i started tweaking the italian gambit "OLD MAN" recommended trying for Rome and All i could achieve was a 47% success ratio and when failure would cost the game and a sealion early i scrapped the plan. But if it's a doable over 50% now i'd love to try to find a way out of it Sound like a new challenge to me.   19. I pop in after awhile and Bam 2 things i was longing for a few months ago! STICKY threads and a new patch. But ummm i thought the qoute was something like "THERE will never be sticky threads and be swatted like a fly if u allude to the need of one again" Well anyway it's great to see even if we get chastized we're still listened too. Maybe i'll come back for awhile now knowing my Droplets of wisdom won't fall off into oblivion anymore.
  20. started this in January and never finished it but i doubt i will and this looks like a s good a place as any to put it. MY wish list for 1.07 patch (Note some of these ideas are stolen, if yours is here I stole it And agree with you ) 1. Fix SUB Bug 2. Fix Siberian Bug 3. Units from minors on an ally's territory should not surrender if thier contry surrenders especially if they are in England or sitting in a cap or city. 2. Bidding system ( I believe a Pool system would be best so as not to give an initial Boost to one major) 3. Allow Unit Switch (in other words 2 units that are within range of each other should be able to switch positions in one turn not 2). Now it is a third variable needed type of setup. I.E. to change X and Y Z is needed. Z=X,X=Y,Y=Z 4. Allow Fighter wings to choose whether to intercept. 5. Allow subs to Disappear Therby Emulating Complete Defensive posture (obviously they could not interdict nor move in this mode) 6. Ships in port take extra damage from naval attacks! Look at the french navy sunk by the brits look at pearl harbor. Ports do not give a ship advantage in Naval battles. As far as land attacks on ports, The naval unit should have the option to disengage or actually to move out to sea therby not recieving damage. It is impossible For a land unit to "Sneak up" on a Naval unit. 7. Option to turn Chance off or lower it's effect. 8. Change editor (thereby allowing better mods) a. to allow control over city/oil/mine Size b. Allow Activation/DeActivation of countries c. Maybe allow different or Editable Triggers for All Minors. (would allow for Greece never invaded Yug go pro axis scenerio in addition to others) SC2 Improvements that prob can't be implimented easily into SC1 Persistant seed for tcpip and pbem Random Map Generator Compression: Bitmap/Jpg Wav/Mp3 .sav/zip?rar?tar? whatever just cause Sc doesn't take half a gig there is no reason for it to take 10 times the space it needs. Instant Messenger chat (Allong Trillian lines) There is open source avaiilable for this! VCR Component. Replay battles from either side with FOW or Both without. Option to choose route piece will take to stop "Surprise" contact that is no surprise.
  21. I've had the entire french fleet survive. Course it was a size 2 cruiser surrounded by 2 Ictalian Battleships lol. Just use hot seat if you wanna test it.
