  1. At the link underneath you will find lots of pics posted to go with the maps some made. You will see alot of whats possible in the cmbb scenario editor there. Just browse around.
  2. Hi, ColumbusOH. Im glad u managed the serv back up again. Must have been pretty frustrating. Nice to see things back to normal. About downloading capacity? Ive uploaded 3 scenario's just, as maybe u have seen. I just thought id mention to u that i wont be uploading those all the time now, i know there's a regular place for those. So all modders arent going to get lower speed to download the mods. Since your site is really the only place for those. I just posted them at yours, because i haddent have any luck uploading to the scenario depot before...(im trying again just today) and i just HAD to post them, being so happy i made my first worthy scenario's. (ahum, i donno bout that, its to be seen...) Also, thanks for putting up with me on your notoriously brave site of ours...))) [ July 11, 2003, 11:52 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  3. oh yes hotseat...Takes me back to the time only my brother had a computer and also had cmbo allready. I played him at his house and after a few games i just had to buy myself a computer!! Yep its all due to cmbo...))). Ive been making a scenario today, (well im trying to) and again i came across something that has frustrated me for some time. (set aside as; 'well, its just the way it is') But now im kinda wondering why its like that, because it seems so very strange....: Why cant i ever pick up more then one allied unit at a time? I know at setup in quickbattle the allied too can be picked up more then one at a time, but in the scenario editor they cant, but axis can. I dont know why that is. Anybody know? ore if maybe im doing something wrong? [ July 11, 2003, 10:36 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  4. with auto quickbattle maps u never get rivers nore canyons, so nope no BRIDGES there. U will have to edit those maps yourself. But ive seen some scenario's around with bridges though, also maps and i myself have quit some maps (to be played against humans, and some against the ai)with bridges in it, one map is even called Bridges. (try the link, if your looking for some) darn typos [ July 12, 2003, 01:35 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  5. Just a reminder, for the storm has gone, the server is back up, and the war is still on.
  6. I hear u, i hear u, brother....)) for italian villages i have some examples, i remember a nothern african town also, couldnt find it jet. (but then again, i dont know how to post pics, so i havent looked all to well) But u are so right by saying that the fighting would be so differend. And yes looks of cmbb lack to model true villages and towns, it does all look too much like pure open rural, ore pure closed center city. Maybe northern africa didnt have that much battle's set around and in towns, but this in a whole has been, for me, a major disappointment to cmbb. There was close to no improvement to the scenario designer after cmbo. Well, there was , but there could have been more... It could do so much better. A few more icons, a few more bmp's, and the world might open up to us so much more. More different tanks and units are allways welcome, but more icons to build maps are just as important, if not even more so. (whoops; there i said it)))) Na, its not that big a deal... Im pretty happy with the game Really am... Maybe in due time, in due time.... [ July 08, 2003, 07:45 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  7. Its true about the walls being mid-evil citywalls. They didnt have those alot...but the way they close-build houses sure made for a semi wall itself, and walls were build all around from back to front and inbetween them. I mean houses werent just a all square building, there was alot of side-building (walls) to it, making clusters together. (And i guess that does also apply on the Italian villages. Espescialy the ones in the south) [ July 08, 2003, 06:27 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  8. hi there. I just now posted 3 scenario's (at the link underneath my topic) They are all 3 set on the same map. Around and in the ghetto in a large town. I would like to encourage u all to go play them, and maybe tell me if they are ok, and where not. That would really help me out as a start to making scenario's... I dont know maybe i will make more after this. But then again, im doing 3 new maps also atm. Dono have to have idea's as a starting point for a scenario, and they sure dont come easy. One might play them agaist the ai but preferably against a human. I hope u will enjoy them. Keep me informed? thanks. alot...)) [ July 09, 2003, 04:41 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  9. it'll do just fine. But one has to try, one has to try.
  10. yeah man, things like that. Maybe wheat is to be made into some street stairs. ))) can be taken by tanks but slower then normal streets, and some smart modder might make it look like there is a real elevating rise to it, also due to the stretch on the elevated ground its layed out on... Also somebody could make a mod for the large buildings, both, to make them look like more little'er once. (it can be done i guess) Yeah high walls would be most welcome, even in cmbb i think, towns dont look the same with all those low brick wallie's around...what the heck are they doing there? real short neighbours might get their nosy sights blocked, but thats about all. (and we all know that that short a people dont make it into the army, even in war time, as so noticably expressed by the game) (.....) Just:...im not that modder, [ July 08, 2003, 06:24 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  11. with ski's on i could...i mean couldnt. (i cant ski). I dont know, u are probably right.
  12. Went mortar shopping And yeah; those coroded stripes, they do rock !! thanks andrew
  13. Since everybody is doing requests for the oncomming africa game, im to do my part here... I would love to be abble to build towns with houses laying side by side more. Now i can only do that with large buildings and medium once (if posed towards ore away from eachother). But small buildings dont just allways lay in open field. Especialy in North Africa where the dence little towns with tiny streets and ongoing walls of houses besides it, make for a brilliant maze. Mind u there are almost no large buildings in those little towns. The only buildings to be called 'european'large are the few pallaces and moskee's, (and most moskee's are to be better called small also) We wont be abble at all to build a little bit of an accurate north african town, if small buildings cant toutch and lay besides eachother AND the streets... But hmmm. Its a difficult request surely. One would have to make new scenario block's with maybe 2 or even 4 houses on a square. Wont be happening, will it? Old bazaar centre's and villages in a whole were often impossible for thanks to enter. Its narrow streets were only fought by men. How do we keep tanks out? 14. im guessing thats because the density of a man plant wheat field provides better cover then the scattered high and low grasses, and no grasses at points (i guess) of the steppe. [ July 07, 2003, 11:06 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  15. I know a grassed hillslope/mountain takes way more time getting up, then; whooooo-here-i-take-my-five-mile boots-and......go down. I remember it took me over 2 hours to climb what only was a 45 minute down run/walk. Thing is: u cant really RUN up, but u sure can run down like mad. On grassed hillslopes/mountains that is. 16. Do the ski troops move like hurricane's downhill? I never noticed. They should ofcourse move much quicker downhill then they do now, and even on flat surface they should be pretty quick when they really want to. And arent the assault boats quicker also? (when loaded with only a few men) on the other hand: dont sunrise and nightfall acure at the darndest speed around the cm world? Its a freaky universe out there...
  17. Please do try the inside bmp's for hangar? U might like it.
  18. yep, i saw. still... ahum, and shouldnt appartment be department?....pff my english rules. ...better go back to doing maps... [ July 05, 2003, 08:08 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  19. Those look pretty cool. The geometrical shapes are better seen now. Witch makes them a bit say; more monumental. Want a few tips on making them even wow-er? here's my view... The just posted halftracks u did had way nice lines down its side's from where the rain slided down and where not...i kinda miss that in these. And a bit of rust and dust to go with that, could do wonders also. What i often miss is a darker shadow colour underneath the turret, where its attatched to the body, many mods lack in that appartment. ...there's more surely...but i understand all those things take up doubel to tripple the time allready spend. ...anyways...i really do like them, and also im looking forward to the historical based one's u are going to do. )))... im so a mod grabber ! keep it up. 20. I never thought Stalingrad was so small...i mean, i kinda thought it was a way bigger city. I guess i might have been fooled by its grandious name and history... Thanks Herr Oberst for emailing the first lot to me. [ July 04, 2003, 06:27 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  21. Yes, Limey, thanks for the tip; i have got two Flesh mods from one post now... And cool flesh...u trying to do all of them. In a month ore so u can take a look at how many time's each mod got downloaded. Then youll know exactly witch of the 4 versions gets liked most. I have Tricolour and hasty in now. 22. U dont... Not in quickbattle But u could use rarity in presetting the battle rules...that could vary things a bit. And there is the size of force option, of + and - points, but u would probably know what your opponent might do, since he would chooze highest + of what u might agree on...so... (One wouldnt attack irl either without some sort of a estemate to what force one would engage, mostly...) And it IS a game, its impossible to not get SOME gamy stuff (with playing a game.) 23. just downloaded and looked at them in play. I have put in the Hasty one. Cool u just started and already do such good work, u sure learn quick. I'm hopping your modding-madness will last us a few more mods anyhow's, to do all the SPW's...?))) (they all need adjusting to the new colour sceme's, they do...) Think u are doing a great job Flesh, Love those options to choose from. [ July 04, 2003, 06:24 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  24. OMG !...they are so evolving to the best mods ever now ! And the Lynx, the LYNX !!....man that one does so good to that little bugger, u wouldnt believe...) Kisses to MikeD...)
