  1. Hmm, yes scenario's...: I just play scenario's against the ai. Havent played one single scenario jet against a human (my bro). And thats probably because all in all im never completely happy with all settings. Its all a bit too guidet for me. But one does need scenario's to replay ore get some idea of what 'really' happened. So i do sometimes take on the ai in a chalenging scenario. However i allways look at all settings and change turns ore...whatever. (but then again; mostly i cant be bothered, and i just wont play the one. I now have a list of about 10 scenario's set aside to play in future... 10 !! and i down loaded every single one the depot has to offer ! I play my brother only on my own maps. He may choose whatever map ive made, and when he ore i defends, then the defender allways gets plenty of points less, but mostly its just not enough still. (probably since we both know what we'll get from eachother, so the defender has even more advantage.) Anyway...what i think? It must be very very hard to make a pretty even scenario to both human players...(and even, and because settings try to be even in chance, every small thing can easily chance balance completely... Like carefull players are unhappy with 30 turns, but bold and agressive players might think of the same scenario, damn it took too long now... So if a scenario is set to 25 turns one might know what the maker thinks u should do...HURRY hurry Hurry. ...and so on. Just play my maps...and the problem is solved.= ) oh yes, and one more point why i dont like scenario's : When cmbb just came out, i played a scenario in witch i as russian had to attack a little village with germans...i did pretty well in the beginning, and i was setting out lines pretty to my satisfaction, allready came to the town borders... But then it happened, turn after turn there came platoons of tanks for me at my edge...i think about 20 ore something all together. First five i was pretty happy to see them, made my plan even easyer to complete. But after the first 10 i thought...G, and now what? so i took them on to the field pretty quick as the battle was in full progress. It made me play less carefull, it gave me more tanks destoyed then would have in the first place and so on. Chaos. I didnt like that game at all at one point and i just stopped, guess im just not that good a commander after all...))) Well maybe i am, now a days i make sure im well prepared: i engage only on my own conditions. [ June 27, 2003, 06:14 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  2. Yes...that should be possible. If 'he' saved the game automaticaly ore youself did by using ALT-S, then its in the list of saved games. U best give it a name, else it saves it as just the last -AUTOSAVE- (which will be its name then.) When u go to the scenario editor. You can load the saved quickbattlemap by browsing up to your combat mission folder and then to the saved game folder, and just look up the one u wish. After that its all editable [ June 25, 2003, 02:20 AM: Message edited by: theike ]

  4. whoops... pardon me... No your efforts are pretty amazing juju. And i am aware of your other mods out there, i have your wooded bridge and the mudslutproject in from the week they were posted. Its just; im not that a man for those brown house's and also factory's. I dont know, they just all seem too brown for me, to intens for brick-colours of brown. Thats why i tried... Now ive looked at it a second time and all excetement of finding that out, and seeing it the first time, is away....it kind of doesnt look so brilliant ( ) nomore. Ill keep it in a bit, but it wont last, probably. ahwell, its been a day
  5. I have brand new looking factory's now. In a great looking weathery grey concrete look. But i didnt mod anything... ? I was trying the JUJU factory mod. and i saw its interior bmp. 'hmm'; i thought, 'looks kinda nice' so i changed its bmp number (1226) to 6180 for one the exterior walls. And wow, i really like it !! So i placed it as all factory walls. Looks good. Only slightly minus point is that juju's bmp is 759 kb(i believe) so it might get a 'bit' more jerky in play. The original bmp 1226 is 196 kb (i believe) and looks allmost the same, with just a slight less attention to detail. (gonna try that one if it turns out to be a big a burdon on my comp...didnt in the scenario editor just, but...) I dont know how to post pics, else i would have. Just take a look if u like some change in scenery, just like me.
  6. Ive put 10 new maps on at commods.database's mapssection. 6 quickly made one's to play quickbattle's on against my ai... 2 conversions of Craig's very very large map to engage each of the town's... and 2 times a map of a town with city-walls i tried to give a cool look...but...hard to play on. And now for the weeks to come ill try to do some more of whats said above. Im allready enjoying myself... Picture's are most welcome though... and, thanks guys. 7. thanks Panzermartin. I like all maps that really give u an oh and ah (overwhelming) feeling, like indeed the kneiber dam does, apart from that for playing i also find the farmland/rural maps with small towns/villages (mostly) and larger wooded patches around ore on and besides the sloped terrain the best. pff what a sentence. Good to hear that. But i made so many of those already... grr, i was hoping for some inspiration, something that would... thing is; most of the more interesting maps to make, are also the less playable ones. hmm, yes, ok....(thinking now)* [ June 22, 2003, 05:45 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  8. true, true i didnt forget and Yes, its the map itself that im worrying about I still have about 8 maps lying around, maybe ill post them. Have to look into them a bit still. They might been o.k for what u guys just spoke about. ...
  9. oh...and if any of u have picture's they think would make cool and playable maps?....that need to be made by someone...:i would love to. [ June 22, 2003, 10:46 AM: Message edited by: theike ]

  11. hmm, well ok...made alot of maps sofar. Guess some ore alot of u seen and maybe played some of them. Myself, i played only the odd one, and like i do only a few. I havent made new maps for a little while now, and thats because the new ones i kept making didnt improve on the older ones anymore, atleast thats what i was thinking. And also i kind of worked through all types/ sizes/ and weather and such. So also there no new way to go. But now i would like to do some more maps. And i could use some input from all of u players on whats a good map. I know there are a few ways to go. Like small maps/big maps, plenty turns/short battle. nighttime, rural, large town, from real life ore..., and soone. And i know my scale-ing could improve (one of the reasons why i want to make new maps)......... ........... Me i liked maps like -Festung Breslau- -Siege on sloss Klessin- -KneiberDam- some of the Spanish sivil war maps and -Task Force Smith Korea-. But mostly for looks only, and because i could learn from those how to make good looking maps. ...But its not just that that makes a good map, surely. Please feel free to tell me all there is to tell... How do player v player players want to play like? and especially on what kind of maps would that be? [ June 22, 2003, 09:54 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  12. )...Yes,i have also seen the program on tv yesterday. Found it pretty interesting. Stroke me also he invented the more modern way of engaging the battlefield. But lets not make his stupid mistakes, cause those he made plenty too.
  13. I kinda bought the computer after my brother showed me his new game called CMBO. We played eachother. He showed me UNREAL TOURNAMENT. And wow that game i really digged. But only played on instagib and preferably only last man standing (where its game for me has found its purest and skilliest form) But best time there were the 56k days, now its chaos due to the big ping differences, and maybe also bigger computer and screen differences. I played SIMCITY-3 alot and i made alot of maps for cmbo (up to a 100 but never posted, and for CMBB) RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN was a really nice single player (playing it for the 3rd time atm) MEDAL OF HONOR-allied assault is ok but now a days i only play that with my brother on some easy going nights.(big fun 1v1) Online its been messed up due to realism mods: ping and camping does al the trick now.... AND DAMN I NEEDS TO DO ME SOME RUNNING !!!!!... snif snif; im so having me a cold turkey atm !!! [ June 09, 2003, 06:20 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  14. (( hmm, yeah, that is kinda freaky... Would upset anybody. Still though better even then the online 3d gaming world in witch luck has been completely overcovered by better performing computers and good/and/ore/faster working connections. To me cmbb with its luck factor is a nice chilldown from being frustrated of getting totaly wasted by people with more money ore just living closer to a server. (talking about luck) CMBB atleast gives u the eazing thought this could happen to everybody at a point [ May 16, 2003, 06:58 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  15. From looking at the 2 pics, (i dont know how the tank reversed in the game) i see the tank doesnt get into the cover-arc fully, ore lets say till its middle point, cause probably the schreck only spots it after seeing the tanks middle point, as so often. And if thats it, from looking at the pics the pantzerschreck couldnt have seen the target as jet. Could that be it? [ May 14, 2003, 06:27 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  16. I dont know much about making operations... But with a village defence like that, one could make the defenders setupzone in the first battle as big as from their friendly map edge onto and over that village, and then do the setup fixed with units in the village at first...then in the next battle the ai would place the new units at its friendly edge as allways. So its like u took the village and the ai gets in new units to try to take it back... But against a human player this wouldnt work. About those different coloured setup zone's; yes maybe, but my knowledge doesnt go that far.... Does someone know?
  17. That 'linked-battle's' thing sound very interesting. Why arent there operations ore battle's posted that are set like that? in wich u engage in a preset nasty looking battlefield? Ore are there some around? i've never seen one though. I saved that textnote so i can read it when i try to do what it sais. Im not that handy, myself...jet. again:...very interesting
  18. http://www.cmmods.com/web/CMMaps.nsf Made and posted over 70 maps now. So enough variation to everybody's liking, i hope.
  19. info is noted: less points make for better playable battle's. Ill try to think about that in future when i make the settings for the maps i post. [ April 29, 2003, 09:39 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  20. Wow, 300 to 600 points on a larger map. Dont think i ever did that. But maybe its worth trying.
  21. Happy to hear all this. So its not just me being lazy..) I dont very often play scenario's, unless they are indeed very small in setting and give me a good feel to what can be happening in general. (as for that i dont like the one-way-to-go-ones, i need a few options to feel at home, some good flanking options and small journeys under cover...) As such i never played an operation. They mostly give u tons of stuff to just go storm onto the enemy with. (Numbers rule, indeed, but when i dont know where in the turns comming my new forces wil appaer im not abble to build up a good 'operation-plan'...) So i stick to playing humans, ore an ai on self made maps, where the ai doesnt have to get to confused. Meaning small !! But for points to spend; a good 3000 points spend on tanks can make a nice tactical game sometimes. As for infantery ..pfff company's: yes, if needed. But everything larger is just a pain in the ass. (I usualy just end up with some platoons and some support...to keep it doable) Im not one that perse likes to get a feel of a historical situation, those who do might tend to the bigger settings, also, probably.
