  1. Kuniworth, excellent map..One question, were you able to use your original Battle for Russia map as a template to add all of the new additions, or did you have to remake the map from scratch?
  2. According to the IMDB site the movie, simply titled JOHN RAMBO will be released in 2008. Here is a plot summary..... "In Thailand, John Rambo (Stallone) assembles a group of mercenaries and leads them up the Salween River to a Burmese village where a group of Christian aid workers allegedly went missing." Don't read further if you do not want to know details of the plot..... . . . . . . . . . "Vietnam veteran John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) has survived many harrowing ordeals in his lifetime and has since withdrawn into a simple and secluded existence in Bangkok, where he spends his time salvaging old PT boats and tanks for scrap metal. Even though he is looking to avoid trouble, trouble has a way of finding him. A group of Christian human rights missionaries, led by Michael Burnett and Sarah Miller, approach Rambo with the desire to rent his boat to travel up the river to Burma. For over fifty years, Burma has been like a war zone. The Karen people of the region, who consist of peasants and farmers, have endured brutally oppressive rule from the murderous Burmese military and have been struggling for survival every single day. This is the time when medical assistance and general support from the Christian missionaries is needed most. After some consideration, and due to insistence from his mentor, former military man Ed Baumgartner, Rambo accepts the offer and takes Michael, Sarah, and the rest of the missionaries up the river. When the missionaries finally arrive at the Karen village, they are ambushed by the sadistic Major Pa Tee Tint and a slew of Burmese army men. A portion of the villagers and missionaries are tortured and viciously murdered, while Tint and his men hold the remainder captive. News soon reaches the minister in charge of the mission and with the help of Ed Baumgartner he employs Rambo to lead a rescue effort. With five young and highly diverse mercenaries at his disposal, Rambo has to travel back up the river and liberate the survivors from the clutches of Major Tint in what may be one of his deadliest missions ever. The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid deliver to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers." http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0462499/
  3. No, but I simply turned the Engineer units into "Worker Groups" and let it go at that. They have a 1 soft attack and 0 tank attack. Their main function is to build fortifications and are symbolized by a circa 1915 dump truck icon....
  4. I for one am enjoying Commander and see it only improving with a patch or two, which happens to have been the same situation with SC1&2. And regarding the graphics, they used illustrations from the OSPREY line of WWII publications.....
  5. With SC2 we are provided with two licenses which allows us to place the game on two machines. From what I can see, the expansion pack will be giving the game a major overhaul which will affect gameplay and modding. Now I was thinking that in order to continue to play the older mods and the original, I will need to keep the original game as is. So, does the expansion pack overwrite the existing SC2 folders, thus losing the original game design in the process, or are the files shared which would allow you to play either the original or expanded version from the same install? Ideally, I would not like to lose one of my original licences to the expansion pack if possible...
  6. It has been slow going working on the scripting and play balance for my Russian Civil War mod but now I'm wondering if I should stop all together until the enhancement pack comes out. I see many features that would make a big difference in the RCW mod for example, railroads. So my questions are: 1. Will current mods still play once the enhancement pack is installed? 2. Will Mods which are in development be easily adapted to the enhancement pack changes or must the Mod be started again from scratch?
  7. Not a bad idea...I'll give it a try and see how it looks...thanks
  8. As much as I like the silhouette outlining the units when an HQ is activated, I find that making new ones for my mod is to much of a pain. I simply do not have the time or patience for it, so I adopted the following quick fix cheat... http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/641/image002be6.th.jpg' alt='image002be6.th.jpg'>
  9. Hubert, thanks for the quick response and the fix. It worked! [ February 26, 2007, 09:17 AM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  10. When I upgraded to 1.06 and imported my scenario I noticed that a number of my modded flags now had a white box surrounding them (See pic of Don Cossack HQ). I tried to eliminate this by using paint but it did not work. Usually, if I used the copy feature in paint to pick up an established "transparent" pixel, I could simply repaint the questioned area around the flag to make it transparent again. But now this is not working. I can paint the box different colors and the changes are shown, but I cannot eliminate the box. I also noticed that the 1.06 bitmaps for the vanilla game now have a pink background instead of white. Does this have any significance to my problem?
  11. Now that the new patch is out, I'll be getting back to working on this MOD...a 12 hour 6 day a week work schedule (staff reductions suck) has reduced my gaming time to zero, but I'll take some time to finally finish this project...sorry for the delay, I only hope it will be worth the wait...
  12. So I guess you want a Sgt Rock or Sgt Fury unit incorporated in this game huh?... Seriously though, the one thing that came to mind while reading your thread were those two 5-6 German Armor units in Third Reich. You treated those two units like gold!
  13. Boy you are one clueless fellow...that you feel you can speak for others is not only arrogant but foolish....you are a troll's troll that much is for certain...
  14. Here is a weird thought...Mt. Doom could be a separate country controlled by Mordor, with the volcano being its capital..perhaps something can be triggered if an ally unit enters the tile and in effect, captures the "country" and thus it surrenders. This would mean that any allied unit entering the tile would have destroyed the ring and the result would affect the overall campaign....
  15. Honch, I think the country slots for a LOTR mod is definately the way to go, for example: Germany = Mordor Italy = Saruman Britian = Gondor France = Rohan USA = Lorien Elves Russia = Dwarves Poland = Shire Hobbits Norway = Ents of Fangorn Spain = Harad Albania = Umbar Hungary = Rivendell Elves Anyway, that just an off the top of my head list. You can monkey around with the alliance % and neutrality of some of these so there can be some diplomatic actions, such as both sides being able to reach an alliance with the Ents, sacriledge I know but you dont want a carbon copy of the book events in the game do you? Here's a thought...a Fellowship HQ unit starting at the Shire, if this unit reached MT, DOOM, then game is over. If the HQ is destroyed, then it is a Mordor victory. So you might be able to have both, military and quest elements in the game.. Random musings while I drink a Pumpkin ale...
  16. Is a Russian Civil War mod good enough for your damn tastes? If not, then spend more time developing your own mod instead of being critical of other's work...What a damn fool you are!!! And concerning the RCW mod, I am awaiting the next patch before I complete scripting...
  17. Good to know as I am at the script phase for the RCW mod now...I guess it will be prudent to await the next patch before diving any deeper into the script waters....
  18. I can't figure out a way to do this...I'm living with the fact that my Armored Trains have the ghost of rockets past attached to them...
  19. For the few of you who are interested in this mod, just to let you know that it will be completed in about two weeks.....
  20. Mr. Dozer, when you are editing the tile layer simply select all the tiles you want to list in a particular script, after you are in the 'Select Item(s)' mode this can be done by left clicking or left clicking and dragging over all the tiles you need, and then use File -> Export Map Positions or just hit F6. This will output all the map positions in a file called 'map_positions.txt' in your installation directory. Then you can cut and paste and rename as needed for the particular script. Hope this helps, Hubert </font>
  21. Some of the gritty war movies from the 50's early 60's that I enjoy....ATTACK, DECISION BEFORE DAWN, HELL IS FOR HEROES, THE TRAIN, IS PARIS BURNING? and THE LONGEST DAY, are just a few.... For escapist fare, nothing beats VON RYAN's EXPRESS!
  22. I think the game is more suited for multiplayer where people like jrr, terif & co. excel at, so they keep the board moving along, but those who play basically AI only, are either finished playing around with it, or simply have nothing new to say. As for me, I have more fun fooling around with the editor than actually playing the game.
  23. One of my favorites was L'Empereur from KOEI. I played it on my 8 bit Nintendo and for the time, it was a fun Napoleonic strategy game...it is too bad KOEI veered away from these type of games and went along different paths and I think Romance of the Three Kingdoms is the only title that continues to be produced....
