  1. try Operation Storfang by Eichenbaum. The campaign never got finished but there are some monster Ops in it with large varied challenging terrain and diverse units. Recon elements can be used properly which is a rarity in a CM battle. Very enjoyable.
  2. Ye Gods, good to see your enjoying life Nils !..thought i was seeing ghosts when i saw your Eichenbaum tag on a post. I still lament the fact we never quite got to Sevastopol, but it was a great trip never-the-less. I had some of my most enjoyable, immersive battles during storfang...kudos to you. Anyone on here that never played them, i recommend you go get.
  3. Ah, but isnt the mission 'to protect the grenadiers and allow them to re-instate a new MLR in the village'?...your method sacrifices them ! Also, in Ernst account, the enemy tank crews were outside their tanks when he first turned up!...not your fault i know I actually lost my first Nashorn to an enemy T34 that suddenly dived forward 100m from the road and hit me as i traversed into a firing position in the trees...aggressive sods. Looking forward to playing again.
  4. To Panther, played the scenario, fantastic as always, the snow & mist adds brilliantly to the atmosphere and the cat&mouse tactics required. Unfortunately the borg spotting takes away some of the fun and realism but still managed some good hunting kills. I recommend this battle to anyone for the tension! Possible Spoiler* I bagged 11 tanks with my 3 plucky Nashorns but they all succumbed by turn 17 of 20.(But i only lost 1 crew member from each of **the AFV's). The village was under infantry contest at battles end. Played on AI experience +2.
  5. Thanks for the mod pointer there Mr Dey ! ..and Panther, i wanted to finish reading the Ernst article and get the winter Nas mod before tackling your scenario. I had created a QB for myself to simulate one of his actions, then i stumbled on your scenario..looking forward to it as i really enjoyed your earlier KC fights. Will post a report on the scenario depot when i finish. Thanks guys.
  6. Has anybody modded this beastie or would like to mod it? I am particularly after a winter version after reading about the exploits of Albert Ernst in Panzer Aces book and downloading HSG's scenario replicating some of his daring feats. The stock version is lame and the only mod i found on CMMods was a white make-over without additional detailing. Thanks in advance if anyone wants to take up the gauntlet and i always appreciate the fine modding talents on this forum.
  7. Thanks once again Panther, i really enjoy your Knights cross scenarios.
  8. Any chance of a Stu-H42 skirtless winterised version? If your looking for a new afv to mod that is. Also, i'm going to ask the author of the Knights cross scenarios if he might want to recommend your mods for this battle in his briefing..makes sense and presume you wouldn't mind the extra adulation for your fine work?
  9. whoohoo, that scenario is going to look superb now!...can i be even cheekier and ask if you have done a winter Russki recon tank (T60?)...its the only afv in the battle thats in clean olive green. Thanks Mikeyd, top work.
  10. Superb work MikeyD, thanks for getting them done so promptly!...i actually held off replaying the scenario in the hope you would take up the gauntlet paintbrush! Muchos gracias. They look great.
  11. Great work Mikey D, thanks for doing the Stugs, much appreciated of your fine 'dirty' talents !
  12. Hi Junk, not sure really, the scenario i'm playing is march '42, snow and yet the StuH42 is appearing in full summer camo despite me downloading two winter versions..but think i need a winter one without skirts? As for the IIIF/8, i have found a snow camo mod on the cmmods site now, but its not that well done compared to some of the fantastic mods i've got from you top modders (no offence to the creator of that particular one). It looks like someone just whitened the stock CMBB one. Mikey D, i would certainly welcome one done by your good self ! I'm sure many people will want these particular AFV's as they 'star' in the great HSG Knights cross scenario series 'Lt Oberloskamp' by Steve O.
  13. Has anyone got or know where i can find a winterised version of the Stug IIIF/8 & a winter StuH42 ? Tried the Cmmods site but couldn't seem to find one. Thought i downloaded a winter STuH42 but a summer camo one still appears in my snow March 42 scenario.
  14. Look forward to battling these scenarios and earning my laurels. Thanks for putting the time and effort in Panther commader.
  15. Micheal, some more armoured units that served in the Crimea:- 223rd Pz Company - Sixty French B1-Bi's converted to flamethrower tanks. Sturmgeshutz Abt 190 & 249 1/2 of Pz abt 300 (FKL) Romanian 8th (Mot) Cavalry brigade.
  16. Kohler, you have to install the other software thats on the downloads list on Eichenbaums website. I am at work so cant remember what its called. Its only a small download/install and all should be fine after that. edit to add:- its called Cortona vrml, download it, close your internet/email down then install it.
  17. Bumpski as i very much recommend people take on this awesome battle No.2 if you like a challenge! Lucho, is that 'yes ok' you want the mod or 'yes ok' you have got the mod ?
  18. Love the mods but i too would like dirty versions of them ala Gautrek. Spanking clean AFV's just look out of place on the battlefield! Any chance of posting a dirty set vossie or Gautrek ?? Panther & SU look particularly fantastic.
  19. Hehe, beware the bogey man of Tankovoe..... Good to see your scaring the new recruits Nils! You wait to you guys get to the beasts of Krasni Mak...be afraid.
  20. Thanks for that Mercury, i wonder if someone will create a full scenario/Op from that ? I would thoroughly recommend the book 'Seige' to get people in the mood for this epic 'pocket battle'. Its a novel based on the true facts in relation to the 100-day siege of Cholm and the garrison that held out against overwhelming odds. Survivors were awarded a bronze shield in recognition of their achievements.
  21. Does anyone know of any good Ops or scenarios created for the invasion of Sicily and the follow up battles? Seems there were a good mix of interesting units to battle with in this short campaign.
  22. Hi Nils, Call of Duty, Raven Shield & a few PBEMS for BB & CMAK...when the real world gives me any spare time that is.
  23. More flexible artillery, ability to put down rolling barrages etc, to lift fire for 100m without having a 3 minute delay or poorer accuracy because the FO cant see 100m further on, considering fire is usually laid to co-ords or can be aerial spotted. Indirect fire ability from weapons that are capable of, this is essential when using the larger maps. Better 'campaign/operation' system. Varied building types, couldn't these be added to the game as a patch? is the game code that restricted that extra bmps cannot be added? which leads to next point, More 'open' code architecture to allow add-on disks / enhancements for 3rd parties to improve/enhance the game ie Ubi-softs IL2. Battlefield intelligence : i presume this could be taken care of by the scenario author in the briefings, but its frustrating when every battle is totally blind for the attacker, except maybe where flags are placed. The attacking force would usually have some idea through recon/prisoners etc where the enemy MLR will be except when advancing into virgin terrain maybe. Not asking for pinpoint positions but battles like 'Blitzkrieg' or Kursk when you should have an estimate of enemy positions would enable better pre-planned barrages.
