Force type selection
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to graniteworm's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I think even unrestricted force type only gives you the choice between force types that we're active on the front you've chosen and on the period of time you've chosen. Hope you can make something out of my incoherent babbling, it's 3am and I've had more wine than I should have. -
Is this just me?
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to gautrek's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
's probably one of those cases of the occasional inverted polygons on the 3d model. Nah, only kidding. 's a rare MK III prototype of the Hungarian Stealth Tank, with the psilocybin-powered cloaking field generator mounted on the turret. Due to problems caused by the vast amounts of energy this beast consumes, this prototype only bends light around the turret, giving it an edge in hull-down fighting. None survived the war, the vast majority of them we're lost when the Zjolzislhztkjyn Research facility was destroyed by the Klingons. -
Urk, I just played a 45 turn QB defending as SS against a +200% larger Soviet force...I just lost a whole platoon, 20mm quad AA, 50mm ATG, MG42 HMG and a tank hunter team to 82mm mortar treebursts in a tall pine forest... Believe me, they're deadly.

Right, I'll put the ball rolling, contribute more if you wish, I'll try to make some more if people like these. They are bad, I known, so someone make better ones. I am bored, oh yes EDIT: And yes the point is they're trying to resemble old wartime B&W photos, sorry for being unclear on that http://home2.picturestage.com/sessions/9684039573/919344lg.jpg http://home2.picturestage.com/sessions/9684039573/919343lg.jpg http://home2.picturestage.com/sessions/9684039573/919342lg.jpg [ December 23, 2002, 02:35 PM: Message edited by: oneirogen ]

What i wish for christmas
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to Skolman's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I'd want my very own Panther to go blingblinging around with. It would be my pimp mobile. <3 All the women would be drooling all over it. Sigh. -
German 37mm door knocker...
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to Overkill's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I'm in love with that round. In early war I got maybe 5 HC rounds for a single 37mm doorknocker I had in a forward position overlooking a road, upon which 3 KV-1's advanced. I would've been toast without those nasty lil rounds to pop them Klim's with. IIRC it had something like 100 m/s speed and 140mm penetration at 100m / 0 angle. Was a nasty surprise for my opponent <3 <3 <3 -
Stories of bravery....
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to Mercury's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Had a panzerschreck team knock out three tanks in three successive hits at a range of 200 meters. Medals we're awarded posthumously. The rest of the armoured advance wasn't too happy, and they shelled the house into oblivion. Couldn't even find a damn piece of toe to hang the medal into. -
The most beautiful tank IMO is...
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to Schoerner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It has to be the Tiger. I cannot even begin to describe her crude beauty. -
Overall, it does place pillboxes rather good. I mean, most of the time they're in perfectly good firing positions, sometimes their firing sector covers only the small cafe in the corner of that heavy building. But hey, that's AI for you. All games face the same kind of problems when it comes down to it. Just don't expect overly devilish schemes from it.

PSW 222 vs. Truck: Bug? (pics)
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to Sarge Saunders's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I think you might have stumbled on one of the then-rare Iron Curtain experimental prototype vehicles. The models the Soviets fielded back then we're found to be rather unreliable, but the knowledge gained from these experiments proved invaluable later on. These we're the mobile coil generators, which we're fielded on trucks, due to limitations in applying the protective field on armoured vehicles caused by technical failures on the early models. The prototypes which we're tested on the field ended up being used to draw fire and as ramming vehicles. -
Stalingrad Pack Update!
Zebulon Pleasure Beast replied to Scott B's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Looks really promising! Nice work, guys. I'm also interested in the size of the scenarios? I hope there's some smaller battles in the mix, since I have a 500mhz computer which chokes on big battles. -
Most of the time (since I'm forced to play small QB's due to lack of computing power) I prefer to use my tanks in overwatch of the infantry advancing some distance in front of them and overwatching each other. The distance between the tanks and infantry also varies from terrain to terrain. The tanks need to be able to swiftly suppress any threats to the infantry before your poor landsers/ivans get broken and run to mama. Then again, in larger battles, with lots of time at hand, I prefer to use armoured cars and scout infantry to probe and try to locate a possible weak spot in the enemy line. If one is found, try to rush a spearhead of armour throught it to ravage everything. A human player might lure you into a trap with this, though. Recently I've played lots of QB's attacking vs. the AI, using the tanks on overwatch, with terrific rate of success. Mostly I end up losing some 3 men with the enemy losing 150. Having said this, always remember to be flexible, and adapt to the situation at hand.

Sissi would translate to guerrilla, and Jaakari would be Jaeger...or something Lahti is also a city in Finland, and it means gulf.
