  1. Thanks for the info Old Dog ... and if you are going to email all of this outplease add me to the dist... great stuff, please keep it coming. Im going to start trawling the various sites for some terrain mods and start converting those Lou2000
  2. Still here and still reading Seems i was doing things right so far .... but good to have it confirmed. Question: Once people start converting mods to CMMOS4 format and they start to appear on the various sites ... how & who will be controlling the version release of the rule-sets files ...i.e Zimniy Kamuflyazh...if somebody adds panzermartins mods and somebody else adds other winter mods under the same rule-set name how are we gonna know what mods are supported  Does that make sense --- or do i need another coffee ! Lou2000
  3. Thanks guys I'll stick with what i've got until current issues are sorted. I was using the 30.82 drivers on my last box without any probs ... but like you say, if it aint broke ...... Lou2000
  4. Nice timing Old Dog ..... I have just printed off the CMMOS guide as I wanted to try converting a few mods for CMMOS ..... including Panzermartins winter mods.... I'll be waiting for part 2 Thanks Lou2000
  5. Just got a new PC up and running, can anybody tell me the best Nvidia drivers to be using and any settings required for : GeForce4 Ti 4200 8x AGP 128mb DDR ram 2.66Ghz Pentium4 256 Mb DDR ram - (may upgrade to 512mb) Win XP home edition - (may install XP Pro) CMBB runs fine with current drivers. Driver info shows ver 6.13.10.3100 And advice on what to use ... or what NOT to use would be appreciated Thanks Lou2000
  6. You can play a 'live' IP game or by email (PBEM). And yeah playing against another person is the way to go. Try posting in the opponent finder forum and you'll soon get a response. Alternatively just email me at the address in my profile and we'll set one up - can only fit in a PBEM at the moment though ! Lou2000 [ December 01, 2002, 05:54 AM: Message edited by: Lou2000 ]
  7. personally i'd go for CMBB..... however GAME in the UK are reportedly selling CMBO for £12.99 .... .... .... .... ...........So get both ! Lou2000
  8. ====================== posted by Saddam_#24 "The huge maps won't be a problem, with computing power like today's. The only real limitation is when there are too many units in a battle." ....... Great - big maps with few units ... that should be fun and VERY representative of modern warfare!!! ========================= posted by Saddam_#24 "the other stuff Lou2000 mentioned could be programmed in and would not affect the gameplay element. " ......OHT targetting ESM and ECM - - To say that these would not impact on gameplay is crazy ... on the modern digital battlefield these things are deciding factors and cannot be seperated from the troops on the ground with 'sensor to shooter' information systems becoming increasingly common place they cannot be easily left out of any game that hopes to do justice to modern warfare. BFC know all this and have represented is well in Tacops 4 ==================== posted by Saddam_#24 "For a start choppers would either be like fighter bombers you controll or like a fast M3 Halftrack that can cross any terrain." ....You make a statement like this and then talk about 'realism' in the next sentance ...amazing ! ======================= posted by EricM "If possible why not '39-43 Europe and Western Desert. You could have all those neat early tanks that just did not work out (Matilda 1 comes to mind). It probably would not be too hard to have both european terrain and desert terrain designed into the game." ....I agree ... North Africa and Europe together would be a good and viable option ... I'd love to play CM in the desert. I just dont think North Africa alone presents much in the way of variable terain. ================== posted by Firefly "Perhaps they'll set it the real North Africa rather than the Hollywood version" .....Well last time i was on exercise in North Africa ( Ex Brightstar - Egypt) the terrain (coastal and inland) seemed to be fairly realistic ! and i seem to remember lots of rocks and sand ... dont recall any hollywood film crews in the area though Gentlement ... please dont take these responses as 'flames' they are not intended that way .... many of these topic have been discussed at length in other forums. And most if not all options have been raised by others with similar views Im still convinced we'll see CM3 remaining in WW2 time period ... an era the game was designed for and is best suited to. I believe there is more milage in discussing new features that we would like to see in the engine rewrite.... I stand firmly behind the whole ww2 game concept from the invasion of Poland ... (yes there were things prior to that but they were mainly political annexations) ...through to the fall of Berlin, Including the western desert, mediterranean europe & Islands, Balkans, amphibious warfare ( a special interest of mine!) and revist the E and W fronts. Lou2000
  9. KIA, I got yr email with the mod manager for testing - however lost everything in yet another damn HD crash  ...... n ow replaced HD's and i'll d/l agian from yr site. Do you still need feedback or have you got all the info you need ? Lou2000
  10. RenoFlame 36 I'd be glad to check your mod out ... I have been a bit engrossed in CMBB over the last few weeks - and have beta tested a couple of mods. Testing yours will give me a good reason to load up CMBO once again ..... just email the files to the address in my profile Lou2000
  11. There have been a number of similar discussions in the CMBB forum ... I think what we are going to get is WW2 in Europe again ... and I have absolutly no problem with that ! I very much doubt that there will be any modern warfare game/scenario as not only the game engine but the 'game play' just wouldnt work for OTH/Standoff weapons, ECM, ESM, Airborne assets. Even the range of most modern MBT's would mean having huge maps ... and yeah i know there is an engine rewrite on the horizon ... but i still think these things are outside the scope of CM. I doubt there will be a whole game devoted to North Africa as the terrain would be just too limiting ... sand, dunes and rocks in varying quantities ! As for WW1 .... try using CMBB and set up a few trenches, fixed fortifications, MG's and lot of infantry - -initially enjoyable but ultimately limited. First time i've been in the CMBO forum for a while ... well since buying CMBB that is! ....think im gonna hang around a little more.... may even find a partner for some BO PBEM again. Lou2000
  12. The SS runes are back but only in the battle selection screen and probably only in the first release of the CDV patch. I'd be interested to know if anybody has installed the newer patch and see if they are still there. Enjoy them while you have them ..... im sure they'll vanish when the next patch is released. Even CDV cant be incompetant enough to make that mistake a second time !
  13. Thanks to Apache for introducing me to these rules ... Still trying to get it all clear in my head though as it seems a little confusing to start with. I'll be following the Biltong rules threads with lots of interest and a little confusion ... still thats better than the other way around ! Lou2000
  14. Amazing... MasterGoodwaffle is the only person NOT to post here ...... please dont tell me somebody has let him out into the wide open spaces of the forum. Soddball ... MasterGoodwaffle's unofficial jailer I hold you responsibe if he has escaped ============================================ WANTED : 'MasterGoodAle' This man is prone to indiscriminate postings within the forum. The general public are strongly advised not to approach his postings and report any sightings to Soddball ============================================ Lou2000
  15. Read both comments to my minor rant and both have points i can agree with ... or at least tolerate not going to go any further as i dont think this board needs another CDV debate ! I still dont like them though !! As for the patch availablility ... There is a difference in files size and name between the original release and the new CDV release... New Patch = CMBB_v1_01_Patch 68 135 191 Old patch = cmbb_v1_01_patch 68 135 388 I'll bet the difference is the removal of the "ss" icons Lou2000 Editted as one of the links didnt work correctly and i cant type ! 16. I downloaded the patch via the link at the top of this thread (66mb) and it seems to have patched the CDV UK version without any problems. In the scenario selection screen all my previous "WG" icons have been replaced with "SS", however, as expected, the mission briefings still refer to WG and QB's still give me WG units to select. I wouldnt get too excited about it as im sure the next patch will put everything back to a nice little german sanitised version. WARNING - - -MINOR ANTI-CDV RANT I dont know if the patch is back on the CDV site...i have as little to do with that site as possible ... but im sure when it returns the German thought police will have corrected their error. Though annoying to be tied to over sensitive german censorship rules, the WG Vs SS issue makes no difference to the game play - However with screwed up game release dates, patches being released then withdrawn and CDV's general lack of enthusiasm for what is arguably the best game they have ever been associated with ...... i'll never buy a CDV released game again ! MINOR RANT OVER! Lou2000
  17. Panzermartin, Any thought being given to making your mods CMMOS4 compliant ? If not ... why not ? They certainly deserve to be in there ! Lou2000
  18. I have used aircraft in a few battles .. against the AI and also PBEM's .... only ever had a few problems ... but when they work, they work good ! What I would like is an option to specify an attack window for the aircraft during the setup phase. For example - No air attacks before turn # or No air attacks after turn # (with a +/- variable) This would allow the player a small degree of control, without micro-managing the air attacks and without being able to say " I want it now". Then I could at least approach an objective with some confidence that im not gonna get cut up by my own aircraft Lou2000
  19. Just wanted to send Abbott my best wishes and hope all goes well for him and his family ! Abbots posting taken from another thread... ------------------------------ Member Abbott Member # 2872 posted November 26, 2002 02:35PM I am very pressed for time for the foreseeable future. I may not be able to keep prior commitments. My eldest son has had a brain tumor return that was thought to be successfully removed four years ago. I will be in and out of town for the few weeks. ------------------------------ Lou2000
  20. Good call .... didnt think about that. Then perhaps just move the whole thing to CDV's site ... their forum is full of Sh@t ... oops i mean cheery waffle ! - Infact this thread has more posts than their whole forum !
  21. With historical accuracy like that im sure it will be great to play as the Mongols Vs Romans or maybe Alexander the Great Vs Hannibal ... Hannibal could scrap his elephants and use T-80's. And what the hell is "outdoorsy terrain" ... next we'll be having a WWII indoor arena ! Will somebody please lock up this damn thread and throw away the key ! Lou2000
  22. The site is excellent and getting all the credit it deserves. I particularly like the fact that it is 'simple' in design making it easy to navigate and get to the goods. A rare thing these days, when website designers seem to want to show us all their bandwidth hogging tricks. I would make one small suggestion though ... any chance of reducing the mod image sizes a little. The pic of the winter Turan II for example - 75% of the pic is pure background. Smaller pics would speed things up for sure. Im on ADSL but i'm sure some of the 56k'er are cursing those nice big screenshots. Lou2000
  23. At last ..... a winter mod that looks like it was painted on the battlefield and not driven straight from the factory after having 2 grey undercoats, 3 white top coats and coming with 3 year anti-corrsion cover Excellent work Lou2000
  24. It looks great ...... Though i think most of my mod changes will be via CMMOS4, however as not all mods are gonna be CMMOS compatible so I'll certainly be downloading and using it. Already bookmarked the page ! Nice work KiloIndiaAlfa  Lou2000 [ November 17, 2002, 03:36 AM: Message edited by: Lou2000 ]
