  1. Cruel !................ Bullethead.... "So jump into the current Peng thread, hurl a few insults, get challenged, and go for it" Oh i've got to keep a lookout for his diving into the PENG and hurling abuse ..... Bound to make some new friends though Lou2000
  2. I agree with Epee ..... Lets have a Mod forum ... but lets have it for BO & BB. BFC - do we get the forum ? Lou2000
  3. Slightly OT. My father was a gunner in the Royal Navy and was involved in escorting merchant shipping up to the Barents ... some of which was carrying US and UK armour for use on the Eastern front.... When asked what he remembers the most ..... ........... It was cold and rough ! Lou2000
  4. Looks great ...... But a pity it will be backwards on the other side of the turret Really excellent modding though .... You doing more ??? Lou2000
  5. I know your pain !! I had a hell of a job getting mine to install correctly ... probs with the bmp files during one install and probs with wav files during three other attempts. (anti-virus was disabled as this can sometimes screw up installs. I tired installing using my CD drive and DVD drive. What worked for me in the end was placing my CD in the drive and rebooting my PC. Once rebooted the game installed without a problem and is now running fine. When i tried on my older PC (used by the kids). Slower machine and slowed/older CD drive - it installed first time  Dont worry i have uninstalled it again ... my kids just aint interested in driving CDV's ancestors out of mother Russia Dunno what the prob was ... one thing to note was the drive in the kids pc was CD drive only, as opposed to my two that was a CDwriter and DVD. Anybody think this could have something to do with it ?????? Also think posts like this should be on the Tech support forum Lou2000
  6. Got my problem sorted out now .... once i managed to get it installed without any errors it runs fine Lou2000
  7. Was it an install problem ?? I had one with the UK/CDV version but have managed to sort it out now.
  8. I have just received my Uk/CDV version of CMBB and ran into probs installing ..... On my first attempt I got some BMP errors and some CRC errors reported in some .WAV files .... (I know this has been reported and there is a work around. On subsequent attempts both my CD and DVD drive refused to read the CMBB CD. I then put the CD into one of the drives and rebooted .... what do ya know my drives read the CD. Set the install running and all loaded without any errors being reported .. the game also starts up and plays without any snags Going to try this on my second (the kids) PC later today to see if the same problem exists. (dont worry BFC .. I'll uninstall it afterwards ) Any body else having install probs with UK/CDV version ??? Madmat ... are these problems the same as those seen on the US disks ?? Lou2000
  9. Its in my local GAME ... but I didnt go in and get one ..... No point ! - - - - My GAME pre-order arrived at 9.30 this morning by despatch BFC - Thanks GAME - Thanks CDV - Lou2000
  10. Monty's Double - Doomed Well what do ya know .... 2 more CM'ers in the Nottingham area. Just like busses ... you never see one then two come along at once. Lou2000
  11. Who did you pre-order from Mr Byte? I might use them next time, mine hasn't turned up yet so GAME are lying bunch of Bastiches (Unless my postie is now happily engaged in a 1000pt QB) </font>
  12. Hmmmmmmm...not sure about getting it on Thursday. I got the same email from GAME and took it to mean that it will be posted on Thursday for delivery on Friday - - Hope im wrong ! Lou2000
  13. Thats what they say ... but they mean PDF's keep production costs down and profit margins up. Now if the profits were going to the game designers / coders then I have no problem with that .... but when the profits go to a lame german software distribution company (name withheld ) then that annoys me. Lou2000
  14. There seems to be some German units missing... ...... I dont see any mention of the 'Waffen' units. Guess i'll just have to imagine what they look like ....... probably very similar to the SS. Thought:- If is say SS in a post will it be banned Germany But seriously .... EXCELLENT work ... the BO catalogue was outstanding and the BB one looks set to match it ! Keep it up  Lou2000
  15. Though I have only used the new controlls in the demo (so far) ... They work just fine, infact they are better than the CMBO controlls. ... OK so they are new ....but IMHO they are also better. Just get used to them and enjoy the game ... or go back to your play-box-cube thingy and your gamepad ! Lou2000
  16. I got another email from GAME overnight, stating that my CMBB order (UK) was being processed ready for dispatch on 11 Oct. Then i'll have to go throught the manual ripping process to get the full printed version. I'm happy enough to pay for it but dont really see the advantage to BFC of having to send the front cover of the DVD-package version. If people are going to pirate the game ... and I hope they dont ... it is just gonna get distributed with the PDF manual. Whilst PDF manuals are a total pain for genuine purchasers they are a godsend for software pirates ! BFC, dont get me wrong its not a 'complaint' - I just dont think it'll achieve much. Lou2000
  17. I got an email from GAME this morning about my pre-order saying it will still be released on the 11 Oct. Have to admit i did keep an eye on the postman this morning ..... he walked straight on past Still that meant no new bills ! Another week to wait Lou2000
  18. I emailed CDV about a week ago and got a response back within a couple of days ........ CDV's official statement was ... "The english version will be released in October." No exact date in October ... nor even a year  lou2000
  19. I thought about Korea .... I think it may work OK.....but anything after that and the types of weapons available (longer ranges / stand off / EW etc) would mean the maps would need to be MASSIVE and even if the game engine could cope with it, I doubt most peoples PC's could. Lou2000
  20. CMBO - Set the standard for others to follow. Excellent ! CMBB - Refined the standard. Word is that its Superb ... im in UK so I still have the joy of waiting to find out But I trust the view of this forum and loved the demo. So BFC whats next for CM3 .... Yeah i know its early, but dont try tell us you havent even given it some thought And if we dont shout out early you'll never know what we want next ! CM3 ideas: 1 - Blitzkreig - Dunkirk ?? Could be a bit similar to BO, but at least the Dutch and Belgians could come out to play with the Poles, French and BEF ... (Thats British Expeditionary Force, for all our US friends ) 2 - Some Island hopping in the Far East Jungle warfare .... Hmmmm 3 - Sino-Japanese War 1937-45 Japanese Imperial Army vs Chiang Kai-Shek's Nationalist Army and Mao Zedong's communist army in Yenan. 4 - North Africa ..... An important and hard fought part of the war but i think the terrain would be a bit repetative. My preferance would be for No 2 or 3. Anybody else got any ideas ?? Lou2000
  21. I got an email from CDV yesterday giving the UK release date as 'October'. But the fact they didnt give an actual date makes me think it is gonna slip past the 11th Lou2000
  22. On Firday I posted an email to CDV requesting : some official CDV info regarding UK and other European release dates...... I asked them to give the game the credit and publicity it is worth....... I told them that IMHO the lack of response was giving their company lots of bad press on CM forums ..... Could they visit this forum and post an official statement .... Im not unreasonable ... release delays are not uncommon, but some info would be well received by those on this forum..... It was a bit longer than that and worded without resorting to calling them a bunch of W*N*E*S (No not winners ! ) Their official response ...received earlier today ..... ========================================== Dear Sir, I'm sorry if there is a confusion about Combat Mission 2. The english version will be released in October. best regards, your CDV-Team ============================================ 'Your CDV-Team' - NOT BY BLOODY CHOICE ! CDV = Crummy Distributor & Vendor (I was gonna say Crap but didnt wanna offend -Doh!) Lou2000
  23. There are a few issues raised by this thread .... Just because im quoting him ... Im not having a go at Schrullenhaft here ... infact massive respect to him for all his input on the tech forum. I dont need another .exe file to download ... when I first got CMBO I didnt even notice the difference until I saw it on this fourm ... I was too busy enjoying the game ! What bothers me is not the issue of 'Waffen' or 'SS' ... I really couldnt care. But it does annoy me that UK customers and those in the rest of Europe are being subject to German censorship rules. If one country want to ban symbology associated with far right extremism then fine ..... I fully support their right to do so, However I'm not German, nor do I live in Germany and have no wish to succumb to German legislation ! They can produce a version with a German manual ... why not a sanitised, politically correct German version and let the rest of us get on with an historically accurate game. On the subject of endangering CDV's distribution of CMBB .....well the less said about CDV the better ..... IMHO BFC shouldnt even consider CDV for any further releases  Lou2000
  24. I emailed CDV direct asking them to post some sort of official statement about European release dates ..... So far all i have had back is an automated response .... well thats ok for now as long as they follow it up ( i wont hold my breath!). However I do feel that the signature on that automated email speaks volumes for how much importance they place on Combat Mission (BO or BB). ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Yours sincerely, CDV-Support http://www.suddenstrike.com http://www.cdv-blitzkrieg.de http://www.suddenstrike2.de http://www.breedgame.de http://www.cossacks.com http://www.igiii.de http://www.geheimnisderdruiden.de http://www.gromgame.de http://www.warcommander.de http://www.cdv-neocron.de http://www.divinedivinity.de http://www.cdv-alcatraz.de http://www.americanconquest.de http://www.project-nomads.de http://www.cdv-explomaen.de http://www.cdv-antivirus.de http://www.cdv-musicline.de ------------------------------------------------- CDV Software Entertainment AG Neureuter Str. 37b / Postfach 2749 D-76185 / 76014 Karlsruhe Germany Tel. +49-(0)721-97224-0 Fax. +49-(0)721-97224-24 Handelsregister: HR B 8929 - Amtsgericht Karlsruhe Vorstand: Wolfgang Gaebler (Vors.), Christina Oppermann, Prof. Dr. Walter Ruda Aufsichtsrat: Gerhard A. Personally if I was BFC i'd be asking some serious quiestions. You will notice that sudden strike gets plenty of mentions, leading me to agree with gautrek's posts that they dont want the CMBB release date to clash. I can cope with delayed release dates ... CDV are not alone in that area ... but the lack of response and updates show their contempt for their customers, BFC the public in general ! Lou2000
  25. QUOTE]I don't think it would have hurt CDV's sales that much to have allowed BFC to continue selling the game through mail order without restriction, and with hindsight that would have been better for everyone. I certainly think it would have saved CDV's reputation as a distributor.[/QB]
