  1. This (memory) patch eliminates the censorship of Waffen-SS units in CDV's version of CMAK. In the unit's window Waffen-SS units appear as 'SS' instead of 'WG' (like in the original US-version). You can find it at the usual place: www.cmmods.com
  2. Pathfinding algo. Never before saw such a problematic replotting of moves from vehicles.
  3. The SS-Patch eliminates the censorship of the Waffen-SS units in the german CDV-version. It's available at the usual place: www.cmmods.com For making an English/French-version too, i'd need some additional info: 1) name of the executable (CM Afrika Korps.exe?) 2) exact names of all types of SS-units (SS Infantry,...) 3) should the german 'Mot. Recon' units be renamed historically correct to Kradschützen/Kradschtz. and Panzeraufklärer/PzAufkl., like it is done in the german version of the SS-Patch? 4) How about the naming of the german MGs 34/42? 4. Meach, the answer is yes, but it will take a while. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=000722#000002
  5. The mod gives CM a more historic look. You can find it at the usual place. [ December 21, 2003, 02:54 PM: Message edited by: Schoerner ]

  7. 1. do you know what Stalin did with the factories? 2. that Germany even got that far, was already miracle #2. 3. miracle #1 was already the defeat of France. So you do compare the romanian oil production with the one of the USSR (built up by the US, btw) and the US and the British? You should know, that the Romanian oilfields Germany only gave the absolutley minimum, while the others, compared to Germany, could almost swim in oil and resources. Thousands of tanks or fighters can be built? You know they began war against Germany 39, right? And they refused every german peace-offer, even jailed Rudolf Hess, because they didn't mobilize for war? Following this argument i could even better say, Germany wasn't mobilized until early 1944 when Albert Speer increased military production around 500% - 1000%. The US had what less than Germany? Oil? Iron? Copper? Like i.e. more T34 than all german crap tanks at the beginning of Barbarossa together? Or the thousands of fighters? What do you mean? Or that the USSR had not enough oil for the machines? What do you want to say? That Germany had enough resources? With your statment about the 1 million of hair-dressers you prooved, you have not very much knowledge, how german life was organized, to feed the soldiers on the front. Dorosh, i suggest you to inform yourself a bit more, how much the German army suffered from resources - reading some authentic OKW reports should open the eyes - and how much that affected during the whole war strategical and operational decisions.
  8. AntEater, yes i'll definately make a language-patch again. Hard to stand the language-barbarity of CDV. But because i don't have enough time at the moment, i wanna wait a few weeks until the first official patch will be out. I'll also release a SS-patch for CMAK in the next weeks. In the meanwhile you could use the old one: simply give the CMAK.exe the same name name, your CMBB.exe has, that works with the SS-patcher. Don't forget to copy the wait.txt into the CMAK directory, too.
  9. Hi Mark, I thought you'd like that idea. Me too!
  10. I guess i'm not the only one, preferring a chronological list over the alphabetical one. Well, I've found a way, that scenarios are shown in their chronological order, without showing the date at the beginning of the name. So far i've modified all original scenarios from the german version and would like to share them (and with them the knowledge, for scenario designers) how the files have to be named, to force CM to show scenarios or operations in a chronological, instead of the alphabetical order. Any advice from BTS would be good. Can the whole pack be offered at the scenario-depot or at CMMODS? [ December 10, 2003, 06:10 PM: Message edited by: Schoerner ]
  11. Hi Mark, congratulations on the anniversary. Phew, time flies by... @Ebusitanus: because Mark is such a nice guy, he informed me that you have a problem. Let's see if i can help you. Do you speak German? [ October 29, 2003, 12:59 PM: Message edited by: Schoerner ]
  12. Sven, i understand and use assault to attack enemy infantry over short distances (up to 50 m; depends on the enemy fire). Or positions where i expect infantry. I.e. taking a house. And the best thing is, the open terrain they have to cross can be under fire and they don't break. On the other hand: if the enemy fire is heavy, they can melt like snow in the sun.
  13. Hi Ronnie Rommel , i like your ideas. Additionally, there should be a possibility, to give AT-guns a certain trigger level. Either determining the hit-percentage, or the points/class (heavy, medium, light) the targeted unit should have at the minimum, before it unhides and shoots. 14. And what aboput the German version? The german briefings in CMBO and CMBB were awful, bad German, without any atmosphere and full of mistakes. Although CDV made it, BTS should have an eye on quality control.
  15. Visit a ladder-gaming site and write to ladder-players. Many of them have nothing against non-ladder games.
  16. I was under the impression that in the current engine Seek Hull Down works precisely by determining a reference point. Give it a try... </font>
  17. Will there be in CMX2 the possibility to determine the reference point? In the current engine the search for Hull-Down order is almost useless.
  18. This is where compromises must be made: besides highest possible realism, the game primarily must be fun to play. What you describe, sounds very boring to me. And it even isn't realistically enough: the German army always used 'Auftragstaktik' very strictly: the Officer only received the order for the goal - how he achieved it, was his free decision. The same with Panzers. Usually no Major directed any single tanks. The platoon leaders knew what the goal was (i.e. 'keep this street open'). But how they planned to achieve it (where to move the single tanks or squads, where to hide, when to attack), was completely their own decision (extraordinary commanders like Wittmann, Nowotny, Galland, Rudel, Skorzeny... needed this highest possible freedom to develop their skills). If this would be modelled realistically, we would never be able to control i.e. a single german tank in CM. [ July 30, 2003, 08:51 PM: Message edited by: Schoerner ]
  19. To me mortars are one of the most important weapons on the field. They are extremely useful for all the tactically difficult situations: Mechanized advance over open terrain against strong AT gun positions -> MORTARS! Infantry advance against MG-positions -> MORTARS! Lightweight recon with high suppressive firepower -> HQs with wide C&C range and a high stealth bonus followed by one mortar. Only to mention a few of the excellent possibilities of mortars. As a general idea how to use mortars effectively, try to imagine, they can ONLY be used by HQ-spotters. You've got a weapon that usually can't be hit by the enemy but that can hit almost everything. What else would you call useful, if not such a weapon?
