  1. This campaign is phenomenal; I'm halfway through mission 3 and can barely tear myself away. The infantry modelling in CMBN is perfectly suited to these sorts of battle. Gotta love those big ole US infantry squads - that's some firepower. As if all this weren't impressive enough, if you look at Ecoqueneauville on satellite view of Google maps you'll be stunned by the similarity to the mission map. Paper Tiger - I salute you sir. How many man hours did this monster consume in construction?
  2. Thanks for the PMs - I'm now full up for the time being so no more replies thanks. Cheers
  3. Looking for a couple of PBEM QBs, subject to the following parameters / conditions: Not too big (medium map?) Not too long (45 mins?) Armor / Infantry mix I'll play either side Can probably manage a turn a day Not new to CM but newish to the CM2 engine (loving it though) and not done much PBEM before - should be easy pickings ... If anyone fancies it PM me and let's get going!
  4. Loving it. Just brilliant. Now release the game please.
  5. OK looks like it'll have to wait till tonight - thanks for the quick reply Steve.
  6. Downloading the Mac version through File Factory. Free users are limited to 150Mb per hour so it's going to take 4 hours to d/l the demo. Doesn't seem ideal ...
  7. +1. And shortly after that please could we have an update on the update on the update?
  8. For a minute there I was getting excited - thanks for stamping out that sentiment so thoroughly. This forum really would be a cold an unfriendly place were it not for warm, welcoming folks like you; if you ever leave the army a career in customer relations surely beckons...
  9. The GamersWithJobs review suggests the demo's out next week. You beauty.
  10. There are, however, some interesting examples of naval guns being used in a reactive role. This account of the 101st's actions north of Carentan on D-Day describes the USS Quincy providing fire support to suppress mortar and 88 fire (p32 onwards): http://www.history.army.mil/documents/WWII/Lock/lock.htm NB - there are also some amusing typograhpical errors in that document, the best of which is: "By a fluke, a part of the leading serial, including the regimental coriander, dropped nearly on the right ground". Love it.
  11. I'm sure this is common knowledge so forgive my ignorance; I played lots of CMBO / BB / AK back in the day but not a lot of SF as I moved to a Mac around that time - hence my ignorance. Anyway - to my question: I seem to recall in CMBB / AK that you could build scenarios starting with partially depleted squads. I've been reading about some of the actions of the 82nd and 101st on D-Day and the following days and was considering trying to build some small scenarios around some of this stuff. Given the mixed / incomplete nature of the units which participated in these actions it would seem appropriate to build forces with depleted squads to represent the hotch-potch of troops which were often thrown together for these actions. I appreciate it's not essential, but can it be done? Thanks in advance for your responses.
  12. Thanks tyrspawn - the movies are great. I particularly enjoyed 'Closing the Pocket'.
  13. Something tells me the paratroopers aren't going to be making much of a contribution...
  14. Great AAR gents. Bil H - your screenshots are fantastic - thanks for putting in the time and effort to show us all this.
  15. gibsonm Are you being paid by a competitor to scare off potential newcomers? I could scarcely imagine a more effective way of doing this than biting off the heads of anyone who asks a question or seeks clarification of some sort. If reading the forum makes you so angry, why do you bother?
  16. 2 types of German soldier - is this news? I thought FJ & SS were for the modules, but I guess I've overlooked something.
  17. But it's value as a VL was tiny wasn't it? Looks like you're sitting pretty as far as VLs go - albeit his objectives may be wildly different to yours. Loving the DAR by the way.
  18. Very, very cool - I cannot wait. Bocage looking promising (as well as everything else) ... And I'm first - yay.
