I need the demo, not because I doubt the quality of the product, but to insure my PC can run it. P4 2.4 Ghz - ATI 9500 ???

Tell us again how Macs are so great.

I have a 2.4 GHz, ATI 9500 Close enough to run this?

1.06?
norvandave replied to Steve Rogers's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
I just want to pass along a big thank you to Hubert for creating such a great game. I've had hours of fun. The 1.05a release's AI is much better. I'm thinking of trying my first multiplayer PBEM game (although I'm a little concerned since there are some expert players out there). -
Looks like Matrix has ripped off Combat Mission with their new Panzer Command. Style, look, interface looks VERY familiar! Battlefront better pick up the pace on CMx2.

SC 2 in December

I would second that thought from JJ. 2d Military symbols would be my preference as well. -
Any AI News?
norvandave replied to Edwin P.'s topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
I would agree with Agent Smith. I WILL buy this game... if the AI is challenging. Not all of us are PBEM or Online players. -
For North Africa scenarios, an African swallow.

To kick things off... a poll of sorts...
norvandave replied to Madmatt's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I would like to add two things to my previous list. CHANGE: 6. The ability to preview the map (at least partially) for quick battles, before choosing your side. It would be great if some idea of the map was known. 7. Terrain FOW. Maps were not totally accurate all of the time. -
To kick things off... a poll of sorts...
norvandave replied to Madmatt's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
It's been a while since I posted. Such a good topic... I'm in general agreement with most previous suggestions. KEEP: 1. Abstracted soldiers. We don't need to see everybody. CHANGE: 1. Improved AI. 2. Improved sound effects, (whats that? did you say 'Surround Sound'?) 3. Improved road movement for vehicles. 4. Mud, deep snow, starbursts. 5. Ability to set variable length of turns (e.g. instead of 1 minute perhaps 3 minutes) [ August 29, 2005, 03:43 PM: Message edited by: norvandave ] -
I think it would be great if the apposing side could set-up minor countries forces if they are invaded (ala 3rd Reich), rather than just having a stock pre-set setup for each country.

Amphibious assault
norvandave replied to Korut Zelva's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Perhaps restricting range would work if you could "Purchase" amphibs that would be used on a once only basis (kind of an abstraction). Cost could vary depending on the range of the amphib op you wanted to pull off. I would wager that it must have cost a lot more to undergo a longer range amphib. -
CMx2 bones a plenty (renamed)
norvandave replied to Panzer76's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
I also like the idea of longer turns. It would remove some of the micro management and put more emphisis in being an overall commander. What would be great is if you could choose the length of each turn dynamically. -
Ok, ok. I'll buy it! Thanks for the info.

A little help please... I'm a little leery about laying down the hard earn Canadian $ if the price is going to come down or it should go retail. Should I just wait at this time to buy CMx2? When is that coming anyhow?

SC2 Suggestion - Probing AI
norvandave replied to Edwin P.'s topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
I agree with James B. A corp is thousands of soldiers who wouldn't be sacrificed so easily. I don't think there were any such "invasions" of that size unless they were part of a larger attack. -
WEGO for SC2?
norvandave replied to norvandave's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
IMHO WEGO is still turn based. It's not RTS. Both sides have to react to the current situation at the same time, which I think is more realistic. -
First off, I'm really jacked about the prospect of SC2. Way to go Hubert, fellow Canuck. Is there a change from the IGO-UGO to a WEGO system, as in CM or the upcoming Battlefields? That would really be cool.

I'm hoping that following an opponent's DOW if we will get the chance to set-up minor countries when they are invaded instead of the same pre-determined setup everytime. This could cut some of the gamey play out. It would also be great if we could control the setup of Russia and USA before they enter the war (perhaps within certain restrictions). Loved SC. Looking forward to SC2.

It may be a good "strategy", but declaring war on Ireland is especially gamey. I think that the delay penalty for US entry is understated in the rules what with the large influential Irish population in the US. Even so, there was a lot of back and forth about whether the US should join in the war and that would have been more ammo against US entry. If Hitler hadn't declared war on the States...
