Range and Use of Panzerschreck?
Das Reich replied to Neuer Art's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
he probably shot at the T-34. not sure their range, but I think max is 250m, but you should really not fire on anything past 100m. IIRC been a while since I have used a schreck -

Das Reich replied to Capt_War's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin

Is it too easy to spot AT guns?
Das Reich replied to Hortlund's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I had a Reg Soviet gun under command of a veteran HQ with a +2 stealth bonus. in one 60 second turn, he came out of hiding to kill three Panzer 38's, one Panzer IIc and nine infantry. and has yet to be spotted. -

Das Reich replied to Magnum MGG's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
yea... I just took out a Panzer IIc and killed 2 of the crew with just one round from the ampulomet... very satisfying, if used correctly... -

Das Reich replied to Mikhael's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin

Playtesting for the AI....
Das Reich replied to Das Reich's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
This is the kind of information I have been hoping to get. And sorry I should have posted this elsewhere probably. I am going to try and put of this stuff into action and see what happens. I especially like the "flags off" option. But one question about that, should you ask the player to turn the flags of before he starts the scenario? Like have him load some scenario he has already played and then use the option to turn off the flags? Would that then carry over to this battle so that when he first views the map, there are no flags at all. Otherwise, if the player waits to start the scenario to turn the flags off, he will possibly be contaminated and see the "hidden" flags and take something away from the battle. Anyways, I'm going to get back to work on this, and will post in this thread whenever I send it to the depot. If anyone wants to try it, post a message here, its fictional, small and still in the very early stages, but can certainly be played. I have a hard time playtesting it as the Germans because the Soviets need the suprise which I already know exists to have much of a chance at winning. -

Very good point which I had totaly forgot to consider. -

Das Reich replied to Hortlund's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Good point, company and Battalion HQ's with good stealth would make them harder to spot. Problem is, its hard to have a HQ for each gun. They should probably be set up in batteries so that one HQ can command 3 or 4 guns or something. -

It is white for me also. And I don't know why. -
Playtesting for the AI....
Das Reich replied to Das Reich's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
So this helps to keep them in one place? I have noticed that on defense, the AI seems to move around too much. Losing suprise and giving away free shots at the units in progress. But, if youhave use a victory flag to keep them in one place, you ar pretty much telling the player where the AI is going to be. Would "dummy" victory flags and house rules help to get past this? -
Whenever I playtest a scenario I design to be vs. AI, I always just use EFOW. But I was wondering if I should be just turning off the FOW all together so I can closely watch the AI move its units around, to maybe get a better idea of what to change to get the AI to put up a better fight. Anyone have some hints or something to look for to get the AI to play a little better game?

Das Reich replied to Magnum MGG's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I had the several german squads pinned last night in the playtest within the ampulomets range and tried to get the weapon to set the area on fire. But instead, he went right for one of the PzIII's and fired away at him. I stopped the playtest before it finished to make changes to the scenario, so I did not get to the end of game to find out what damage he had done which I might have missed, but I think he was responsible for routing a German tank and making him speed across the map before finally hiding out behind a hill and rejoining the battle later... -

It is an anti-tank mortar which fires flame rounds of some kind. Its funny you post this, In a scenario I am designing, just last night I added one of those to the Soviet TO&E just to try it out in the playtest. It was a pretty interesting weapon, though for the most part it did little damage. It does seem to target tanks even if you want it to fire at infantry, so it must have been used more as an AT weapon. I am sure one of the equipment grogs here can give us the full breakdown, I am interested also. -

Quit your bitchin' and send me the next turn.... -
Who knows how the AI picks forces in a QB. And who cares? Shame on you for playing a QB against the AI. go to the depot and download one of the nice, challenging single player scenarios.

umm, yea, sure.... Combat Mission is a battalion level tactical wargame. It is not an operational or strategic game. If you are interested in higher level games, try Russo-Germam war or TOAW. I believe there is an online strategy floating around somewhere. And BFC sells a printed guide. target the tank and yes, the team firing their weapons may reveal themselves. It depends on many factors, such as distance, what type of cover the firing unit has, weather conditions, what FOW setting you are using and many other things. I think that is the idea. Practice. give it time and you will get the hang of it. No, the dude is done for the day and so is the gun. Just move the crew to a safe place to wait out the rest of the battle. Do not use the crew in assaults, this is not very historical and a dead crew is worth more points to the enemy than a live crew sitting in a patch of woods safely to the rear. No. However, in an operation, some tanks may be repaired. i havenot played an operation in CMBB yet, so maybe someone can help us out. but I do think it is possible for tanks to be repaired if they were not knocked out and possibly used in the next battle of the operation. As I said, though, I am not sure.

BFC, when will we know the next project?
Das Reich replied to kipanderson's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I would rather the next version of the game cover all the major European theaters, the East and West front, Italy and North Africa. Of course, I would understand in BFC planned on seperating them. But a West Front/Italy/North Africa game could be made, then a revision of the East Front would be great also. But please don't go too far from the WW2 era. IMHO, of course. -

I love small, well done scenarios. I have not tried this one, but have played others by the same author and I liked them all very much. -

Master Goodale vs ParaBellum AAR

Great work on the AAR's guys. Love the screen shots and the "died bravely" comments. There is nothing better than this game and the community it has spawned. -Das Reich
