  1. It was most likely not Auschwitz. Auschwitz is in Poland and was liberated by the Soviets on January 27, 1945. Patton had yet to wizz in the Rhine at that point. Hmm, interesting. I would imagine that seeing it just once with ones own eyes would be enough to never forget.
  2. First, excellent post. I was wondering why you prefer green half squads? I prefer to use vet or reg half squads to lead the way. They seem to take suprise fire better and they seem to come out intact more often than some of the greens have. The vets and regs keep their cool, which, depending on what you are trying to do, is a very good thing. green squads lay down cover fire better than they scout and encounter suprise fire. MHO, of course...
  3. very nice... I especially like the winter version. I prefer the dirty looking winter tanks to the whitewashed tanks which just look white...
  4. I've been asking myself that lately... Actually, this mod was already finished, more or less, just had to tinker with the BMPs a bit to get them to fit the CMBB model. Most of the uniform mods are the product of kind of a template, so they don't take much time at all, although creating the initial Photoshop "template" files was pretty time-consuming.</font>
  5. I purchased both games online and have had no problems at all.
  6. because they were rather crude weapons... But I have had quite a bit of success using them on tanks in CMBB.
  7. this tactic could benefit if you have the MGs shoot at the tanks to button them up. I don't think you should be charging the tanks with a LMG or anything. But use them to button it up and draw fire, that sounds okay. Make sure that, for their sake, your good with your AT guns...
  8. you might still be able to stay hull down, but release the bow mg/FT part of the tank to fire. your position will probably not be as good to handle AT fire. But, if there is a risk of incoming AT fire from guns or other tanks, you probably shouldn't be worrying about using the FT on some infantry.
  9. When you target a unit make sure you choose to target without the main weapon.
  10. tell that to the tank which is bearing down on them... other things would take a back seat, I imagine, with a T-34/85 right in your face...
  11. that Luftwaffe infantry uniform might be the best infantry uni mod I have ever seen. Great work.
  12. This is a platoon HQ, not a regimental or divisional HQ... Not much use for the old typewriter at the platoon or company level, especially in a combat mission Also, the guy is SPR was there because he could speak German and some French.
  13. Well, the entire problem with the internet and intellectual property law is what law should be applicable. Lets imagine for arguments sake that a German citizen, living in Germany makes a scenario to be used in a game made in america by an american company. The German guy uploads his scenario to a server located in Spain. A person living in Sweden downloads the scenario from the server in Spain and uploads the scenario on his own server located in .nu (wherever that is, I think it is some island in Oceania) This new location of the scenario displeases the German guy, and he wants it removed from the .nu server. What nations intellectual property law is applicable in each situation and why?</font>

  15. because the thickest and hardest to penetrate armor on a tank is usually its front armor. So it is common sense that you would rather hit the side or the rear of the tank to have a better chance of penetrating. You must also take into account the caliber of the gun you are using and the type of tank you are trying to kill. for example, a 45mm ATG is going to have avery hard time piercing the front armor of a Mk V Panther tank. So its best chance at a KO would be to hit the rear of the Panther. Not every AT gun was made to take out every tank. smaller caliber guns should only be used on light armor. Higher caliber AT guns like the German 88 can take out just about any tank from the front. [ January 16, 2003, 05:31 PM: Message edited by: Das Reich ]
  16. Gamey tactics are annoying to say the least. Most people on this forum who play CMBB like to play it because of the historic atmosphere. And many people consider gamey tactics like flag rushing or using bailed tank crews to draw fire from assault squads to be un-historical and taking away from the flavor and fun that they get out of the game. If you do not like this, then make sure you detail this to your opponent before you start any PBEM or TCP/IP matches. I am sure that there are people out there who do not care about using gamey tactics. I don't like them. But usually they can be countered by a good player.
  17. SPOILERS for Citadel Schwerpunkt * * * * * * * * * * The setup is bad because you allow the German player to engage you from a distance with nearly all of their guns at the same time. I used the little dry river bed and plaace one gun on northern side of the bed, facing south. He was to fire on the flanks of the Germans once they had all filtered into the kill zone. I had the other guns set up in the trees east of the river bed so that they could fire down and into it. If the Germans are to take the objective, they must cross that river bed. Taking advantage of the cover gives the guns a better chance at staying out of the Germans view as they get closer to the river bed. I just tried to let the Germans drive right by me and into the river bed, where I sprung a trap on them first by firing from behind, then fron the front and all sides, which created havoc on them. FWIW, this was against the AI! leaving your guns in the open and allowing the Germans to fight with their strenght, which is numbers. That grouping of German tanks is deadly at long range. With the ATR's, place them just on the western side of the river bed, right where the ground dips down. The Germans cannot see that area until they are right on top of it. This will give you a first crack at them with a tank hunter team right off the road. Put the AT rifles in the eastern edge of the woods which are to the west of the river bed. Put them in position so that they can fire on the rear or side of the tanks. this gives them a much better chance at getting a penetration. the good thing about defending is that you can be patient and make the Germans come to you. this isa "skinny" map so they cannot really move around too much. plot the reasonable path you think they will go through and set a trap or two for them. get as much as you can with the AT guns, ATR and Th teams before you committ your tanks. Leave your tanks to finish off what it left of the enemy tanks. But make sure you make the Germans fight at close range in a tight grouping, and try to knock out the Mk IV's first if at all possible. Sorry that this is kind of rambling, but I write this in between chasing my 1 year old son around the house. Good Luck,
  18. Yea... have you ever heard about what they print in Japanese school books on history, WW2 in particular?
