MasterAle's Good Waffle of Cheery Thread
Das Reich replied to Soddball's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Teddy, for your information, it worked. I copied the 1.00 shortcut and renamed it CMBB_100, then updated the game by running the patch, then I moved the 100.exe file back into the CM folder and both now work fine. If anyone is up for a short PBEM game, let me know... -

Das Reich, I'm sorry but this thread is purely for Cheery Waffle. If you're expecting to find anything worth reading here you're labouring under a misconception. However, I remember reading the post you're referring to (although I couldn't find it with a quick search) and I do believe that's all there is to running both patched and virgin versions of the game. Just give the .exes different names and set up two shortcuts. Give it a go ... worse things happen at sea. Teddy</font> -

hey, can someone tell me how I can keep both the 1.00 exer file and download the 1.01? I have a PBEM that has been going too long and I decided to go for 1.01 now, I can no longer wait for my opponent to send me an orders file. He works and plays allot. He has a life. So anyways, someone posted on the forum with some process of copying the 1.00 exe file. Do I just copy it? then put it back in after I patch the game up? If anyone can help, thanks. -
Now that is a great idea. Call it the CMBB "Rookie Pack". Very nice idea, someone do it!

I have a scenario which is (was) in one of El Cid's packs. I would not have a problem with it had he posted here on the forum before hand or something. It would be tough to get a hold of each scenario designer to ask their permission. Given the fact that the scenarios are as they were and were not tampered with, I didn't get too upset seeing my work in one of his packs without being asked. I expected something like this to happen when I submitted the scenarios to the depot. I could understand why some of the "name" designers out there might be upset over this, though. But not too many people downloaded and played my scenario as opposed to what B&T, Der Kessel, etc., who have had hundreds of downloads of their stuff. I can see why they would take offense to not being asked their permission. But me, I just like the idea that a few more people might find my scenario in the 1P pack as opposed to being lost at the depot. If I can touch just one more life, it would all be worth it. Since so many people objected to the scenario packs, and there is almost no way to contact every designer and get their permission, it is probably a flawed idea. A good idea, but not possible to get to work without pissing someone off.

If you ever want a short and sweet PBEM, send me an email: vsp36@frontiernet.net -
Yea, that is kind of what I was thinking...

well, that does sound pretty damn odd. But I have heard some stories of equally stupid things...

it only has 6 AP rounds... sometimes people freak out. sometimes veterans lose their cool. am I understanding you correctly, was the T-34 on the STuG's flank?

Let's see, this was sent December 19. Three weeks later is January 9. Packers lose first ever home playoff game January 4. Plenty of time for CMBB on weekends. </font>

Yes! Send a couple of cheap vehicles, like jeep/kübelwagen/truck in front of the tanks. Cheers Olle</font>

Failure to follow orders: Smoke
Das Reich replied to jdmorse's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
it has happened to me trying to cover a MG position with smoke. but you are right, tank smoke is not really good for covering an advance. -
I agree with what Snarker said. Buy the game. If the idea of the game has you interested enough to post on here about it, then I can promise you that you will love the game once you get the basics down. And that does not take long.

The Tiger..Pointless to produce??
Das Reich replied to KG ThorsHammer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
That would have meant more targets for Allied war planes. Germany was doomed because it lost control of the skies. Might have prolonged the war some. At least until Little Boy was ready to be dropped on Belin. -
