Reichstag Building? CMMOS Mod
Feldgendarm replied to Lane's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Okay, just in case someone really has rather strange ideas on what the Reichstag building is... - It was built from 1884 to 1894 to house the parliament of Imperial Germany, which was called Reichstag (Reich Diet). So the building is not a piece of Nazi architecture. - After 1918, the Reichstag building was home to the parliament of the German republic. - In 1933, shortly after the Nazis came to power, the Reichstag building burnt down. Officially, the Communist van der Lubbe had set fire to it. But already in '33, many believed that the Nazis themselves had done it to demonstrate the German public how dangerous the Communists are. - The Reichstag did not serve as parliament building for the Nazi "parliament", neither did Hitler make speeches there. Insteadt, the building remained unrepaired, so it was still half a ruin when the Russians reached Berlin. - No one knows why, but the Russians made every effort to conquer the worthless Reichstag building. During the fighting, the structure suffered heavy damage. - After '45, the ruin, now in the American Sector, was secured provisorically. Between 1961 and the 70s, it was restored as a parliament, but not used as such, since the Western German parliament (Bundestag) was not allowed to meet in West Berlin due to the status of the city. - In the late 90s, the Reichstag building has been completely remodeled by the British architect Sir Norman Foster. It is now the home of the German parliament. It is NOT an Nazi building ... the Nazis had no sympathy for it... Greetings, Feldgendarm -
It might be a dumb question, but ... is it intended that the Italian version of the CV-33 has now (with patch) the right 3D model, but Hungarian markings? Or have I missed something ant this will be subject to a later patch?

Spanish Civil War - 1st Mod Preview
Feldgendarm replied to Feldgendarm's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Great! So I'll now start the next one. A Russian BA-10 will play the role of a BA-6, pressed into Nationalist service. By the way, the colors on the cast mantle have been corrected - Spain's flag is, of course, red-gold-red, and not vice versa ... sorry to all Spanish out there who might feel insulted... -
Hello! This is my first attempt in modding, so please be indulgent ... it is a T-26 M33, captured by the Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War: I made it after old photographies showing captured T-26s with the Nationalist colors painted on the cast mantle and the back of the turret in a rather flashy way, obviously to avoid "friendly fire". The slogan will, of course, be optional. The mod is designated to replace the Finnish T-36 M33 for scenario building. If there is interest, I will continue with Spanish Civil War vehicles, including a Legion Condor Pz IB, additional captured tanks and a CTV CV-33 (as soon as the patch is out). Hope you like it!

How about a Great War mod?
Feldgendarm replied to patolino's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Well, I would welcome some graphic mods for WWI scenarios. By playing some tricks to the eye, one of our great modders could make an Italian or Romanian tankette really look like something authentic from the Great War. And dressing the Soviets in German feldgrau Uniforms (and giving French or so outfits to Germans) would provide an amazing look to such scenarios. By the way: I think the Hungarian assault gun would really make a good St.-Chammond char d'assault. -

Good idea, busboy! And once the patch gives us a "real" Italian CV-33, it can modded into a British Whippet Mark A -
How about a Great War mod?
Feldgendarm replied to patolino's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Since all graphics would need to be modded, why not change sides (Russia becomes Central Powers, Axis becomes Allies)? With some work on its appearance, the Romanian R-1 Tankette would make a satisfying French light Renault tank, I think. -
Does anybody know what mods would be neccessary for Spanish Civil War scenarios? What color patterns were used by Republicans and Nationalists for their equipment, what did Italian, Legion Condor and International Brigades armor and vehicles look like? And maybe it would be possible to make the trucks a little bit more "pre-war" by subtile texture modding? What do our Mod Gods say?

Just bought the german CDV-version...
Feldgendarm replied to Schoerner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Why? CDV has a first-class CMBB forum, where the most enthusiastic wargamers of this planet meet -
Where's the bloody bocage?!
Feldgendarm replied to MrSpkr's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thank you very much, Michael Well, I should have known ... I'm not a complete newbie here; In fact, I've been reading the forum each and every day for a long, long time now, though I'm not posting very often. Oliver -

I understand that you are unnecessary rude just because of a harmless little joke. -
Where's the bloody bocage?!
Feldgendarm replied to MrSpkr's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Unfortunately, bocage had to be removed. The strict anti-bocage laws in Andorra required this. -
Shhhh! I'm not allowed to read that! Please write: "WG was a nightmare..."

Great idea. I will make a Manuel. And also a Julio, a Pedro and a Hernando

CD in my mailbox this afternoon
Feldgendarm replied to jonp's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
But it could have been worse ... you open your mailbox, find a thick envelope in it, you dance for joy ... and then see big fat black letters on the envelope, grinning at you diabolically: CDV -
First: I love BFC, and their CM-Series is, in my humble opinion, by far the best wargame in computer history. And I have made sure I'll get it ... the "original", of course. Second: If the CDV version of CMBB is soooo wonderful as "officially" claimed ... why is there still an American version? Why does BFC not make the game according to CDV-standards right from the beginning? What is good enough for us Europeans should also be good enough for the Americans. So I demand this: Americans should also get a minimized manual, political correct textures and unit names and a copy-protected CD. And everybody will be happy, because the CDV-style version is fantastic and all are treated equal. Greetings!
-
CDV quote: "In case any customers have problems with the copy-protection CDV Software will help." Almighty god! As a German, I must laugh like mad now. They dare to pretend that something like "Customer Service" exists in Germany. Or is this simply another way to say: "If your crappy CD-drive does not like our fantastic copy protection, write us an e-mail and then wait till Hell freezes for a reaction"?

CMBB in European local retail stores?
Feldgendarm replied to Knaust's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Oh, come on ... a de-nazified CMBB is still less annoying than that silly Anglo-Saxon prudery -
Well, maybe not Canada itself ... but the two tiny islands St. Pierre and Miquelon just off the Canadian coast are French départements d'outre-mèr. Which means, the poor Froggies there will share the fate of their far-away countrymen and buy Ze Originnell CDV Kombat Mission

"Cömbät Missiön: Beyönd Överlörd"? Interesting ... very interesting. Looks rather Swedish than German to me. By the way, a correct German translation of 'Combat Mission' would sound extremely ... well, 'German': "Kampfeinsatz". Jawohl, Herr Unteroffizier!

Setting the Record Straight FAQ
Feldgendarm replied to Battlefront's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
No, please don't! Promise me you will not punish us in such a cruel way, and I swear I will be a good boy! I love CDV. I adore them. I will name my first-born child CDV. But don't drop a tank, pleaaaaase!
