  1. Gentlemen, Sorry to hear about the trouble and if you can, please try the instructions found here to see if that resolves the issue: http://www.battlefront.com/helpdesk/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=197 If not can you download and install the demo and let me know if that works as that will help me narrow down what the likely issue is: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1818&Itemid=318 Thanks, Hubert Hubert
  2. Great to hear Canuck97 and thanks for spreading the word, much appreciated
  3. The Quick Logic feature essentially lessens the accuracy of some of the AI checks for a slight loss in playback quality for considerable speed improvements. In testing I don't think anyone could tell the difference and since this was the case, i.e. that the trade-off in quality versus speed was very good, we introduced it as an option for those that prefer a slightly quicker turn. If not disabling it will provide the same optimal AI as in previous releases Hubert
  4. This might be related to an introduced MAIN MENU bug that we have a hotfix for, see the link below for instructions to see if this helps: http://www.battlefront.com/helpdesk/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=197
  5. Tough call to be honest as the idea of balancing history and gameplay comes to mind and of course we always have hindsight to deal with where in these games perhaps the Japanese player is simply putting more effort/resources into China or better strategies than a real Japan ever did. As a designer we also have to keep in mind that the games need to be interesting and early on a common complaint was that China was too tough a nut to crack with little overall movement in the frontlines. To be honest this is probably the first time the issue of China falling everytime has come up so I'd be hesitant to make changes until I hear more from others as things play out differently in other matches and some might not feel the same concerns. Usually when a consensus is reached I make adjustments so in the meantime I'll likely wait for more feedback.
  6. Thanks I'm very glad to hear it In fairness though I think the biggest credit should go to Bill here for his fantastic work on the campaign designs but that being said we are definitely very glad that the game is an enjoyable one... hope you get many, many more turns in sooner rather than later
  7. The French position at Sedan, or lack thereof, is intentional and I believe to help mimic the rapid initial advances the Germans had at the beginning of the war but I am sure Bill will pop in later today to add some further thoughts
  8. For Marine divisions their current special ability is to be able to launch an amphibious assault from any coastal tile whereas all other qualified units need to be adjacent to a port.
  9. As far as I know the fixed online activation setup file is on the servers and the retail version that shipped should also contain the fixed version as well. Glad you are enjoying the game Hubert
  10. Hi Simmybear, Sorry to hear about the trouble, can you try and temporarily disable your Ant-Virus program and/or whitelist the main WWI executable in your Anti-Virus program to see if that will get you up and running? Can you also try the same thing if you are running a Firewall program like ZoneAlarm etc. Hubert
  11. Hi Worg64, Can you send me some saved turns with descriptions on the tiles in question as this will be helpful in improving the game. I only ask as the AI does have a focus on defending certain tiles around Paris and perhaps these are not the same ones that you've noticed and it is withdrawing to these instead. But it should be an easy tweak once I get a better idea of your specific game situation etc. Send to support@furysoftware.com Thanks! Hubert
  12. Hi Wolfpack, During testing we found that the full screen setting did not work well on some of the newer systems running the Aero desktop theme such as Windows 7 64. To avoid the issue I simply chose to disable the full screen setting in game but kept the functionality in *just in case* and due to an introduced bug when selecting resolutions higher than your desktop resolution this came in handy as it seemed to resolve the problem. But for the first patch I will reintroduce this setting in the Editor and the Game as it now seems to be the least of two evils. Hubert
  13. Sorry to hear about the trouble Jim and hopefully Martin can help you sort this out soon enough
  14. Ok then this is more or less to be expected as there is a lot of data in those central European areas and as mentioned the map is a lot larger so there will be some slowdown as a result... a bit of a tradeoff so to speak for the more detailed campaign and map.
  15. Hi Jim, Quick question, did you get at least as far as licensing the game or not even that far? Hubert
  16. It really depends as the National Morale factor can still give you a tight game as the Central Powers, i.e. one report from the Beta testers was a game where Germany had just defeated Russia and barely took Paris by game's end otherwise he might have lost due to low morale. It might be a good exercise to play the game to completion to see just how the final years play out for you at the current level but otherwise playing a new game at one of the harder levels might be more appropriate. I'd even suggest to try at the same level of difficulty you've played previous releases and go from there to see how the current game stacks up.
  17. This was pretty much why we've made it the default setting for optimal scrolling now. I've run a test on my end and I can confirm it is a bit slower than let's say how it scrolled in Global Conflict but not by much and likely this is only because the map is much bigger, i.e. the biggest one yet so there is a lot of data to process for each scroll of the game play area. How about if you open one of the smaller campaigns, does it still stutter or is it scrolling normally?
  18. Thanks and indeed the AI is not scripted to specifically hold those two positions but rather the ones ahead of it where they start the campaign. I will make an adjustment so that it keeps these positions in mind due to any breakthroughs.
  19. Ok I would suggest trying to update your video card drivers to see if that will do the trick as it sounds like something might not be quite right with how your video card is handling the game.
  20. Great to hear about the SC games and welcome back so to speak For the indicator sprites I am guessing that you are playing without the 3-D units, correct? If so I think you win the prize as no-one noticed this small change during testing. Looks like this was an introduced bug and it has to do with making a small coding change to have the non 3-D units keep track of unit mirroring to solve a problem we were having, i.e. even though the military do not change facing when near other units. I will correct this for the first patch as well, thanks Hubert
  21. Hi Wolfe, The Video Acceleration option is now the standard setting by default but you could try adjusting this setting in the SC2.ini file by changing the value to 0 instead of 1. Alternatively you could also try running the game in Full Screen mode as well by changing this value to 1 as well. The SC2.ini file can be found in your installation directory of SC WWI. Also, you might want to try updating your video card driver to see if that helps or even running the game in Windows XP compatibility mode which can be done by right clicking on the game EXE or desktop shortcut and selecting 'Properties'. After that click on the 'Compatibility' tab and from there you should be able to set the appropriate setting. Let me know if this helps, Hubert
  22. Hi Jestre, When you launch the game your customized campaign should show at the bottom of the list of playable campaigns in 'italics'. The description for the campaign will be prefixed with a [Custom] note. For the Editor, what appears to be a 'lock' on your campaign file is (I believe) the way Windows let's you know that this campaign is not going to be found in your 'Campaigns' folder but rather in the 'Virtual Folder' that is accessible when you navigate to within your 'Campaigns' folder in the Windows Explorer and then click on the 'Compatibility Files' tab found in the upper left portion of the Explorer. This is just how Windows handles files that are changed in the Program Files directory and it looks like I didn't set the permissions correctly in the installer to avoid this. I will correct this for the first patch. Hubert
  23. It is not an exact percentage but rather just a reduction by a number of pixels. For example the regular sized bitmap file is 4081x2130 where the zoomed bitmap file is 3074x1590. Or at the individual sprite level it is 77x71 versus 58x53. If you are thinking of creating customized zoomed unit sprites be sure to use the 'pixel resize' option with your graphics software (if supported) and not any of the other algoritms like 'bicupic' etc., as these add in anti-aliasing and as a result the white noise around the units when viewed in game.
  24. worg64, I'm pretty sure Bill's response was directed more at the feedback form Jestre and Crispy regarding unit stats.
  25. Hi Wishuki, Just double checking the code and I can tell you that it is cumulative, so it would be in your example above a total defense bonus of 3. Hubert
