  1. Didn't the early model Panther's have a smaller/less horsepower engine? I don't know about two tons less but perhaps this was a factor. Does the game show the smaller engine? I was under the impression that the Germans beefed up the engine after experiencing the "teething troubles"? If my ass is moldy on this please let me know. Thanks folks.
  2. Good question...What the hell is this jibberish all about? Speak English or die!
  3. Much prefer the 50mm to the 75mm PAK. Quicker rate of fire and quicker targeting. I have to agree wholeheartedly with Mike on this issue. The T-34's should go up just as easily as the Sherman's with the 50mm PAK. Unless you have great distances involved between the PAK and the targeted armor, the 50mm is the better gun. It won't take out IS-2's frontally but it will take out T-34's.
  4. Michael, I re-enact in a GrossDeutschland unit. Several veterans go to various re-enacting events that we have throughout the year. Some of our members even go to the GD treffen (reunion) in Germany. Is your friend looking to contact any GD veterans or just signals personnel? Thanks
  5. After I saw your screenshot and message I had a good laugh. Thanks. I love this kind of CMBO-CMBB comedy.
  6. How much money do you have to spend? Like several other members who have offered their advice on your upgrade dilemma, I would definitely get more RAM. At least double what you have. I just got rid of an ATI Radeon 7500. No Fog! No Good! I bought an NVIDIA GEFORCE TI4600 128mb card. Nice card. Fast and best of all....FOG! I would upgrade your processor even if that meant getting a new motherboard. If you did it right, I'm guessing you would spend about $400-$600. When you start looking at those numbers you might want to consider getting a new machine. Can you do the work yourself or will you be dropping off your machine at the local computer shop? In any case, good luck.
  7. I just dumped a Radeon card, 7500, and replaced it with a GEFORCE 4600. I'm not using Mac but the Radeon didn't show things that the new card does. Like fog and smoke.
  8. Mike, The shoot and scoot order is really a two pronged order. It appears that your Nashorn commander, while attempting to carry out the "shoot" order of the shoot and scoot command suddenly realized that he didn't have a revolving turret. At this point while already carrying out the "scoot" command the vehicle rotated and the commander of the Nashorn ultimately ended up carrying out the "Shoot me in the Ass" command. Uhhhh....just kidding. At least you were smart enough to save the turn in question.
  9. I upgraded after reviewing the demo. The demo ran slowly on my 900mhz Athlon processor. BTS would probably not agree with me but my advice would be, if you can afford it, upgrade and break the mhz | ghz barrier. I was so used to CMBO "thinking" so quickly that when I got the full blown CMBB it bothered me that it was not as "quick thinking". Of course if the speed at which the computer thinks out its moves does not bother you then more power to you...or should I say less power?
  10. I received CMBB this past Monday and setup a few quick battles. After selecting central front in June-July 1943, I noticed the Waffen SS grenadiers were Totenkopf troopers. Is this by design or is it random? I'm impressed!
  11. I just upgraded my machine from a 900mhz Athlon to a 1.5 ghz Athlon and boosted the ram to 768mb from 256mb. I think the ram is overkill but the processor upgrade definitely helped. I'm glad I did it because I too noticed that the time needed to think is much greater during the demo scenarios. My next upgrade will be to the video card which is currently a Radeon 7200 64mb card. I understand from several other posts that this card does not handle fog. Any suggestions for a card that does handle fog in CMBB/CMBO?
  12. Kwazydog, Thanks for the clearjup on that sample pic. Sounds great.
  13. I noticed the sample screen shot as well. After having read most of the posts to this thread, I would have to agree with the initial post. Why put captured Panthers in the game? Are they selectable from the Soviet players arsenal? Were captured Panthers so widespread that they had to be added as an element in the game? If not, then why not have captured Tigers and MKIV's and MKIII's and STUGS and every German tank ever used as playable by the Soviet player? For that matter why not make various Soviet tanks available to the German player? Maybe they are?Perhaps this is a screenshot from one specific scenario? I really don't know enough about the game yet. I just pre-ordered it last night. In any case, God Bless Big Time Software! I think these games are the best of all time! Not in line with the thread but I have to say it because it's just that good.

I know what you mean though, the names are kinda corny. My brother and I used to own a liquor store here in upstate New York. I've had my share of hooch. We used to taste different stuff every other day from cheap wine to expensive single malt scotch. C'mon September 20th!
  15. The best Irish whiskey is Tullamore Dew. Bushmills Single Malt isn't worth the extra hard earned cash. Black Bush is a good switch from regular Bushmills. I'll be doing shots of either: Bad Apfel - or - Asbach Uralt as I watch the Panzers Blitzkrieg across the Russian steppe. There is a new vanilla flavored shooter called "Das Komet". From the same volks that brought you "Rumpleminz" and "Black Haus". Remember if you must drink and human wave...drink heavily.
  16. Kamerade, Where can I appropriate these Tiger mods? Danke in advance. Excellent work!
  17. I had two Tigers in a village setting get KO'd by a Stuart frontally. Those were the only tanks I had which left me to take on the American armored assault with just men hiding in buildings. The Americans had about 10 armored vehicles total, 3 Stuart, 4 Sherman variants, 2 M10s and a Priest. This did not include the three half tracks they had and a slew of infantry (I try to always play giving Allied +25% to +50%). The Stuarts moved in first as sort of a vanguard to the rest of the American juggernaut and the first Stuart KO'd both Tigers frontally. GAME OVER!
  18. I used to have 900mhz processor with 256mb of ram and a 32mb video card. CMBO played just fine. In anticipation of CMBB I went out and upgraded to 1.5ghz with 640mb of ram and a 64mb Radeon video card. I also went from a 17" monitor to a Sony flatscreen 19". In case you can't tell, I am really looking forward to this game.
  19. This kinda thing happens to me all the time. Hell I even lose Tigers to Stuarts and Greyhounds from frontal penetration. It's getting to the point where if I see a Stuart or Greyhound advancing in on my heavy Panzers positions I turn tail and run. COOMMMEEE OOONNNN CMBB! I really hope this kind of nonsense has been fixed.
  20. Ben Galanti posts: -------------------------------------------------- Is it actually in question that a Stuart could penetrate PzIV turret? Now how often the turret is hit may be questioned, but I don't think it odd that when the turret is hit, the PzIV is KO'd... I don't think I've ever seen a PzIV lost frontally to a non-turret hit though. -------------------------------------------------- I don't think that it is in question that a Stuart could knock out a MKIV or as you ask penetrate a MKIV turret. What I feel is in question is the frequency at which it happens. From my experience, it happens alot. From Marlow's experience it is rare. I don't doubt that Marlow is speaking the truth from Marlow's experience. I'm not lying either. I previously posted that, "I was talked down from the ledge about main cannon accuracy". In this thread, the same people that said I was crazy about the German tanks not being able to hit the broad side of a barn have now admitted that there is a problem with the game engine in reference to gun accuracy. I'm with Redwolf on this one. I will be backing out after this post but not because of spelling errors or incorrect grammer and punctuation but because one day people tell you your ass is moldy and the next day they are agreeing with you.
  21. Zee, I am also in the GD unit that you will be attending with however I will not be attending this event with GD. I will be attending with 9th SS. For a first event, this will be a good one. There should be quite a few "toys" out there, half-tracks, armored cars, etc. GD may bring out some Hetzer tank destroyers to this event. Should be a good one. Perhaps I will see you there. Take care.
