  1. Just to clarify - Steve never said end of 2005. Moon, however, said in this post: "CMX2 is scheduled for, uhh, late 2005."
  2. I had a different understanding. In my mind, "overshooting" referred to the fact that the aircraft has to initiate a pull up at some point (I think 180m from the target is used in our example) or else it will fly into the ground. Since the aircraft is pitching up once it is within 180m of the target, any rounds fired will miss the target by "overshooting" it. I don't think it has anything to do with at what range the weapons were zeroed.
  3. No wonder eye witness accounts are so unreliable.
  4. With a little knowledge of statistics, you can do that in CMx1. For example, giving reinforcements a 3% chance of arrival on Turn 8 of a 30 turn scenario gives an approximate 50% chance of the reinforcements arriving at some point in the game. If the reinforcements won't do any good if they arrive after, say Turn 25, then change the first turn of entry from Turn 8 to Turn 3. The total chance of the reinforcements arriving during the scenario is above 50%, but the chance of them arriving between Turn 3 and Turn 25 is about 50%.

  6. The shoe designer deserves an engineering excellence award... Richie will contact you to work out those details.
  7. With grogs present, why does it have to be an either/or?

  9. The results of the ROW V Best AAR (first round) have been tabulated. Go here to see who won and post any comments. We now move on to the ROW V Best AAR (finals round). I'd like to remind everyone to follow the format guidelines posted here.
  10. I have been derelict in my duties. Go here to see the results and post any comments.
  11. The votes have been tallied and I'm happy to announce the winner of the best AAR is... BigDuke6 in Push to Maleme Congratulations to Bigduke6! Let us know what model you select. I trust everyone is working on their AARs for the finals round - they will be due 1 week after the scenario due date.
  12. w00t! I made someone's sig line! My life is complete! Thanks, juan!
  13. You forgot to mention how your opinion matters more than anyone elses.
  14. It's Space Lobsters of Doom, you ninny. Nobody is going to buy a game about plain old Space Lobsters.
  15. After staring at that top picture, I've concluded that either I started drinking earlier than normal, or that tank has got to be from the 60s. It's groovy, man!
  16. Absolutely - by participants, I meant anyone that has played or contributed to ROW V. I would also like to point out that we will be picking the best AAR from the finals round, so I hope the players are working on those AARs even as we speak, er... type.
  17. The nominations for best ROW V AAR are in and I have to say that every evaluator commented on how hard it was to select the best from among the outstanding submissions. I will try to post some comments later on AARs that did not make it to the final round but still deserve recognition. On to the nominations. In alphabetical order, the nominees are: Andrew Kulin in Push to Maleme Bigdog944 in Wet Triangle BigDuke6 in Across Moltke Bridge BigDuke6 in Push to Maleme Platehead in Wet Triangle It is now up to you, the ROW V participants, to vote for your favorite AAR. Send me an email (acepilot88 at yahoo dot com) with the following: </font> ROW V screen name #1 - Best AAR #2 - Next best AAR #3 - Third best AAR</font> Please include both the name of the author and the scenario in the list. I'll accept votes through Sunday 24 July. The winner will be awarded a scale model of their choice by Richie. Congratulations to these authors and thanks to everyone that submitted AARs. All of you made it extremely difficult (still fun, though) to narrow down the field to these finalists.
  18. I'd like to tahnk GaJ for going out and getting the hosting space necessary for all of these great AARs.
  19. With the help of GaJ and Cpl Carrot, I am in the process of posting them to a web site. GaJ was gracious to offer hosting space and hopefully will be along to let everyone know when it will be ready.
  20. Only if you want a chance to win a model that Richie has generously offered to build and paint for the winner of the best AAR in the finals round. And, if that won’t motivate you, I’ll point out that doing an AAR with scenario design feedback is a considerate way of saying thanks to the scenario designers for all of their hard work.
  21. Just one - all I need from you are the top 4 AARs from all of those you reviewed. No need to rank them - that comes later. I'll email you the details, in case you care to get the big picture. Ace
  22. If prisoners were of little value, then CMx1 would not award additional points for capturing them. The abstraction of wounded soldiers disappearing from the battlefield denies the other side an opportunity to capture them, as well as relieving one or both sides of the obligation of policing them. That is hardly realistic. I think BFC recognizes this and will find a method that addresses it better than the CMx1 system.
