  1. All of the info is great...thanks Steve. Though I found these two nuggets of info particularly intriguing. I know I'm getting waaaay ahead of myself here but there could be some intriguing possibilities for the possible final module in the CMBN family, covering the October & November 1944 battles to clear the Scheldt and the advance to the Rhine. Amphibious assault vehicles (LVTs & Sherman DDs), Crocs & Wasps, Commandos....all the Odds & Sods.
  2. I have not seen anyone be able to successfully alter the models but that isn't my area of expertise....I just play with and manipulate what I'm given, which means the skins mostly. I have had success with swapping certain files in the past but not creating entirely new ones.
  3. If you're trying to do what I think you are, then it won't work. The data is hard-coded within the game and you would have to reverse-engineer (which I do not recommend) the code. I have been ridiculously busy lately, otherwise I'd have taken a closer look at a work-around again (but even my last work-around had people complaining because it wasn't perfect).
  4. I was just looking at the skins in your pack here and was surprised to see the uniforms for the 1st Cdn Para Bn. I'd just like to point out that the shoulder title and formation badge weren't actually worn on the denison smock; it was worn by members of the unit on their battledress, but that would only likely be seen when they were out-of-combat.
  5. It might not be possible. It all depends on if the coding calls the texture for officers and men.
  6. AFAIK, there were two basic colours of webbing for the CW fighting arms. The lighter khaki or tan-looking colour and blanco, which was kind of greener.
  7. I haven't forgotten/abandoned the CW uniform work, just been very busy since the Holidays and....tired.....must be getting old. A lot of my free time has been spent examining and adding to my research, though I have played around with the bump maps on the uniforms.
  8. I don't believe it will ever be as granular as to allow regiment choices...it would make the system very cumbersome and add a ridiculous amount of extra BMPs to the game files. It would be great if it ever came to pass that maybe each Division could have a representative unit but again, if you factor in the US, CW and Germans, then the number of divisions in the list could again become cumbersome (not sure off hand, but that's probably more than 100 divisions).
  9. I can only speak to the CW troops but from what I've seen, there are representative shoulder ranks for Sr & Jr officers. As to the helmets, I don't think they are specific to the ranks. Steve responded to a question I had when the upgrade first came out regarding the specific formation choices. The gist of it was that only the formations presently listed are available for now, as these are not mod-able at the end-user level (it would require significant coding to add more formations right now).
  10. Wishes for a very Merry Christmas to all. This includes all the designers, creators, testers, modders and forum-ites....and hell, even the trolls, (its Christmas, even the trolls deserve to be merry).
  11. Aris, Thank you for looking at the Sherman V, as it was probably the most common variant in Normandy. If I had to suggest in a most-to-least common order, then: Sexton (equipped in the Armd Divs and the DDay assault infantry divs) Sherman I (off the top of my head, I think this variant was only found in two brigades, one of which was in the 79th Armd ('the Funnies')) Sherman Ic Firefly (very few in Normandy...maybe only a handful, concentrated in the 1st Polish Armd Div)
  12. Not to worry. Honestly, my original mod files work well enough (though they need to be renamed). I am playing with the normal maps to see if I can enhance my end-product at all. Plus, I have a new inspiration/enhancement that I'm planning on testing over the holidays.
  13. Okay then, I'm glad I can just stop, since the uniform modding isn't needed anymore.
  14. I'm getting decent results with the plugin for photoshop right now. Though, I'm not sure that I'm seeing that much difference in the game to warrant normal mapping every insignia change. The testing continues.
  15. As far as I am aware, they aren't in CMBN.....yet.
  16. Commandos & Rangers top my list. Then there's a whole laundry list of other stuff (Dingos, Humber SC, DD tanks, etc), though I hope to see some of these added in the 'add-on packs'. (Oh, and I'd pay another $10 for Crocs & Wasps too)
  17. I played around with normal map creation last night and I think I have a method now to arrive at normal maps that are very close to the ones BFC created. This is very important because any changes to the stock BMPs will require new corresponding normal maps. I'll be testing my process over the next few days and if it works as intended, then I'll be all set to start work on the new mod.
  18. I may actually give my beloved Canadian regiments the full treatment. I have all the assets and they are the easiest to template. In all likelihood, I'll probably still eventually do the entire 21st AG as I get the time. It's just that the last time I was releasing the mods to correspond to the order that the units actually entered the theatre of operations. This time, I will focus on the requested units first, as they are obviously the ones people want the most.
  19. Thanks Steve. I had a feeling this might be the case. On the plus side, that means that I can defer the point where I completely lose my sanity to some time in the nebulous future. And I can spend my time now learning how to manipulate normal maps to improve my mod offerings...though this in itself might be enough to do in my psyche.
  20. Okay, I'm seeing lots of possibilities here that could keep me busy working on CMBN through the entire Eastern Front development cycle. The one thing I'm unsure of, after looking at the file naming conventions, is where do I edit/add data to increase the selection options on the purchase screen. I am seeing how the units seem to be tagged using square brackets (eg. 82nd and 101st Airborne), but say, for example, I was trying to add the 17th Abn Div to the selection list...is the number of selections hard-coded into the program, or can I edit/increase the options here to include additional divisions/units. Having too many in the list would get cumbersome unless it branched into sub-trees, but I could see this being useful to at least select by division for now.
  21. Technically, you already have the 49th (West Riding) Division, as they are the stock British uniform textures. I'll end up choosing one (or maybe more) of the battalions from this division but is there a specific unit from the 49th that interests you?
