  1. It was mod burnout and real life that have kept me from updating the mod. It was a lot of work to get the original mod where is was and then everything changed with v2.0. I will get to it at some point (I get started then seem to get side-tracked).
  2. I completely agree with you that 'testing is contributing', though its pretty difficult for me to assume who may or may not help in that way. I still think the basic point that the new models will drive additional content is what is being overlooked by a lot of the critics here.
  3. Actually, it's not like saying that at all. You're conveniently overlooking one very important fact: nobody in the community can make the models, while, in theory at least, everyone in the community could take part in making scenarios/campaigns. If you 'don't have the inclination' towards scenario-making, then you are, by definition, at the mercy of those who do have that inclination (regardless of skill level). This assumes that the community members who do create content aren't just disgusted and weary of the negativity from certain quarters, which can discourage attempts to contribute positively. And finally, you are lucky that there are those of us that do enjoy having the new models (which is separate from simply enjoying 'graphics', which isn't even a part of this argument) because having these models will hopefully inspire some more creativity from the community, which I assume you will enjoy (or possibly not) when they are eventually released. From what you've stated, you don't seem to be planning to make any contribution to the CMBN community because you are a 'player', which is fine, but don't spout on about the lack of scenarios/campaigns when you'd have even less chance of getting new scenarios/campaigns without the release of the new vehicle pack, which is going to generate content in time; without the pack, the CMBN forum would be pretty barren right now.
  4. I've been watching the discussion here and it occurred to me that it should be considered that there wouldn't be many in the community working on new scenarios for CMBN if the new vehicles aren't taken into consideration. Without the newer vehicles, why would I create a scenario featuring them? We have to have the vehicle pack first before we create new stuff....then things will begin to trickle out featuring said units. Chicken vs egg stuff here.
  5. Remember: Don't get them wet... Don't expose them to sunlight... And above all else, please, please, please don't feed the obvious trolls. There's nothing worse than an obvious troll.
  6. The Sherman Crab should be available right from Jun 44.
  7. Okay, I have NEVER waded in on the pricing/value hyperbole-laden BS but I just don't get it. Why is there some great calamity revolving around purchasing new content for the game? If you want what's being offered, you purchase it, and if you don't then you don't. I happen to love the CM series but my interest is mostly drawn towards the Theatres of War that feature Canadian and other Commonwealth nations; that is my personal area of interest. I didn't purchase Red Thunder because I was less interested in the East Front; again that is my preference. I am very pleased that Battlefront is creating content packs to continue to flesh out CMBN and I will continue to respectfully request other pack additions because that is what I would like to see. If/when they release battlepacks for the Eastern Theatre, you won't see me complaining in the Red Thunder forum that I'm getting nothing I want in the pack; I'm not as interested in the Eastern Front (I noticed this in the CMx1 series, of which I purchased each module, because I played CMBB less). The new Vehicle pack has possibly inspired me to get back into some modding again, and I might even try my hand at an Aris-like mod for the CW vehicles in the pack (my potential output being a poor facsimile of Aris' work to be sure); hell, I may even try to make some scenarios at some point in the future when I can find time. But the price is the price and I think its worth it for the time I'll probably spend with it going forward; if you don't want the pack, don't buy it, and please stop whining about it. End Rant
  8. Realize that I agree with you on the point about Wasp II/IIC being within the Normandy time-frame (July 44 on from what I've read), but I think the "1000 in service by June 1944" probably does not relate to the true number in the area of operations in actual formations. A lot of that number was probably still in the UK and a significant proportion were possibly the out-dated I's, which didn't go into action. It doesn't concern me that the Wasp isn't in this particular Pack, as there are understandable practical limits on how much content goes into each Pack; from what Steve has posted about Packs, I still believe that we'll get to see the Wasp in a future Pack. There are still lots things that can fill content in future Packs (see the wishlist I made a few posts back for just the Commonwealth stuff....and I could probably even think of some more additions to that list).
  9. I would suspect "junkie" to be pretty low on the list of my frequently-attributed nicknames.
  10. I don't think I've ever been classified in quite this specific way before... ;P
  11. They were found in the Normandy timeframe with Canadian formations, so they should be fair game for a CMBN battlepack. They were utilized more effectively in the Scheldt battles (Oct-Nov 44), which is where my mind was going last night when I made the list. Most definitely the Wasp II/IIC should be strongly considered for inclusion in any possible future Battlepacks.
  12. I'm hoping that's not the case, as I still have a wish list. Commonwealth vehicles alone that could still be added: AEC III Centaur IV Daimler III/IV Humber Scout Car Lynx Scout Car Sherman II/III/V Duplex Drive Sherman IIa (76mm) Staghound III Staghound AA Grant CDL (I think these were only used once and not in combat but would be neat) Tetrach light tank Plus Items that might be a little later (Oct 44 or on): Wasp (Oct 44, I think) Buffalo LVT 2/4 (also Oct 44) Archer SP Ram Kangaroo Ram Badger I think that covers it. Plus British Commandos and American Rangers (please, please, please), maybe Free French forces. I think that covers the stuff I know of (someone else would have to add American/German possibilities).
  13. I am pretty sure you can delete the offending image file, or simply replace it with the appropriate 'non-chevron' image in your Z folder.
  14. Changes to the UI are not what I understand to be included in 'Battlepacks'. They are more in line for inclusion in 'Patches' or 'Upgrades'.
  15. I remember a discussion regarding that a while back. It's one of the things I'd 'wish' for but I fully realize it's quite unlikely.
  16. Not to disappoint people, but there seems to be a number of things being 'wished' for that are probably quite unlikely to show up in BFC's definition of a 'Battlepack'. Personally, I think the following are likely/possible: 1) Flame vehicles and units (Crocodiles, man-portable flamethrowers) 2) Commandos and Rangers (since we have Rangers in CMFI) 3) Free French forces 4) a few battles or a campaign to utilize the new units I would also hope to see (but don't necessarily expect): 5) Priest 'Kangaroo' (used by the Canadians in August 1944) 6) some captured French vehicles for the Germans 7) other 'Funnies', such as Churchill AVRE, LVTs, Sherman Crabs (not with spinning flails) 8) additional flavour objects (crashed gliders, etc)
  17. I like the decals....still want my Crocs and Wasps (but I know they're bound to show up in the "near"-ish future).
  18. I'm glad you're finding the graphics useful but personally I prefer the silhouettes (although that's just my opinion).
  19. Soon-ish....it is a huge project (you'll be amazed at how much is in there). As it alludes to in my sig, Mord has to contend with my OCD.... but there is literally only a small percentage left to complete....hopefully without driving Mord to drink....more.....
  20. Never fear....it is coming....there is very little left to do in terms of units to be covered (I think he's basically just finishing up French and Polish units) and a few small touch-ups to iron out and it will arrive.
  21. I can see this feature being very useful for something like the combined mod files I put out for the original CMBN-CW. Those mods were for specific CW divisions/regiments, and contained UI, Vehicle and Uniform elements. Then, if I understand this correctly, you would just install the ones you want once and, because they're tagged appropriately, you would only need to add the reference to the desired formation to the scenario text file. Any time you play the scenario, you have the mods you've associated to it. It would probably require the creation of a text file with all the naming conventions for ease-of-use for the end-user.
  22. Interesting....This would eventually make for an intriguing way to minimize the mod size and associate the insignia and markings to the units required for a particular scenario....(I'm kinda glad this isn't included yet, as I think my wife may divorce me when I get inspired to do a definitive version of my original mod using this system).
  23. A mirage...yes....but the oasis is definitely coming. And I have seen part of the finished product....well worth the wait.
